Sydney had woken up early that morning and had been busy getting ready to leave for work. She had gotten dressed and was about to leave her room when she had the urge to check the drawer where she kept the new documents she had found on Ashley. She walked towards the cabinet and brought out the key to the locked drawer. She inserted it and opened the drawer, but what she saw made her freeze to her feet.

There was nothing in the drawer. Not even the folders where she had kept the document.

Shaking her head, she took a step back and looked at the cabinet. It was the exact cabinet she had kept the document in, it was in the exact position. If everything was intact then why wasn’t the document in the cabinet?

Who could have taken it?

She frowned as she thought.

Could the maid have tampered with her stuff? There weren't any cameras in her room so it was impossible to check the activity that went on in her room, but there were cameras outside the room. She could check who had entered her

Because she stopped at Arthur’s office before leaving for the hangout with her friends, she arrived at the restaurant late and met Hailey and Quinn already seated at their reserved table. Jade forced a smile on her face as she joined them at the table. “Hi, girlies!”Hailey smiled when she saw Jade. She placed her hand on the edge of the table and leaned forward, studying Jade. “What happened? You came late.” She nodded at Quinn who sat across her, and looked back at Jade. “Even Quinn, the latecomer among us, got here before you.”“I got busy with something, but never mind, I am here now.”Hailey wiggled her brow at Jade when she heard what she said and smirked. “You got busy with something?” She arched her brow and added with a mischievous smile. “Something like what?”Jade understood what Hailey was hinting at so she played along and smiled. “It is whatever you are thinking it is.”Hailey covered her mouth and shook her head. “You all are enjoying your marriage. It makes me miss my

After Jade ended the call, her mother dropped the phone from her ear and sighed. It seemed her daughter was too deep in her fear that she was failing to see the clearer picture. She wasn’t implying that her son-in-law was innocent or guilty of cheating on Jade. She just didn't want Jade to make a big mistake like Julian that she might later regret. She was certain that the divorce that had happened between Julian and Sydney wouldn't have happened if Julian had communicated better with his ex-wife; that was the reason she wanted Jade to talk things out with her husband before reaching any major conclusion. Her husband stepped out of the kitchen and saw his wife standing in the hallway of the restaurant, staring at the phone in her hand with a solemn face.He walked up and asked, looking at the phone with curiosity. “Why do you look so serious? What is wrong?”She sighed and kept her phone in the blue apron around her waist. “It is Jade. She is having some issues with her marriage."“W

Jade could have easily just stated that she was suspicious of him and was bothered by seeing the same necklace she had lost being worn by his secretary, but it wasn’t like Arthur would be honest with her if he was having an affair with his secretary or not. Besides, he was in the midst of a serious meeting and she was causing a scene. So instead of speaking out and openly challenging him, she decided to give him the benefit of the doubt and swallowed her suspicions. “I came to see you because I am having an outing with my friends, and I wanted you to know that I wouldn’t be able to look after Iris,” Jade lied.Well, most of it was the truth. She indeed had an outing with her friend, but that wasn't enough reason to come to his office to tell him that. Arthur frowned as he thought about what she had told him. “Why did you come all the way here just to tell me that?” He questioned, looking skeptical. “You could have just texted me.”“Well…” she cleared her throat and brushed an invisi

Jade frowned as she checked her phone. Right on her screen were all the details of the woman she had seen her husband driving to a hospital the previous day. After getting back home, she sent the picture of the lady to an investigator. She had just received the investigation report containing everything that could be found about the lady, the lady’s day-to-day activities, and other things that let her know if she was seeing her husband. To her relief, the lady was still a college student and wasn't even staying most of the time in Vergasca. The reason she had come to visit was that her grandmother was very ill. Since she doesn’t dwell in the country, it was impossible to conclude that she was having an affair with Arthur. That meant Arthur had only helped her because she needed to get her grandmother to the hospital. Jade dropped her phone on the table close to her massage chair and leaned back on its headrest, relaxing as the chair's vibration ran through her body. She was becomin

Even after Sydney left the apartment, she couldn't get over the stench of rotten flesh she had inhaled. It made her feel sick in her stomach. All through the drive back to her office, she kept thinking about what had happened. She had found the document missing and the hitman dead on the same day, it had to be more than a coincidence. She was certain that Ashley was behind it, but just how far will Ashley take her jealousy before she stops? A lot of people had been hurt or killed due to it, and it annoyed her the most because Ashley was using her influence to oppress those underneath her just so she could hurt Sydney. The car was parked in the company’s parking lot, and Sydney got out of the car with a grim face. Starting with the discovery of the missing documents down to smelling the rotten flesh of the dead hitman, it was an understatement to say her mood had been destroyed for the day. The moment she stepped into the lobby of the company building, everyone tensed when they saw
