The Senate committee room plunged into chaotic uproar. Flashbulbs exploded like lightning strikes across the gallery as journalists scrambled to broadcast Senator Julian Vance's staggering declaration to the world.

Vance leaned back in his leather chair on the elevated dais, a victorious, cruel sneer curving his lips. "You have six hours, Chairwoman. Surrender the patents, or your mother spends the rest of her life in a federal supermax facility."

Isabella didn't flinch. She slowly closed her leather dossier, her face a mask of absolute, terrifying calm.

Beside her, Nathan didn't look panicked—he looked like a predator that had just watched his prey step directly into a steel bear trap. A low, dark chuckle echoed from Nathan's throat, sending a cold shiver down the spines of the surrounding senators.

"Did you truly believe," Nathan began, his baritone booming through the microphone with lethal, resonant power, "that I would leave my mother-in-law at Oak Brook while traveling to Washington?"

Vance’s sneer faltered slightly. "What are you talking about?"

"Evelyn Hayes isn't in Oak Brook, Senator," Isabella announced smoothly, her hazel eyes locking onto Vance with razor-sharp delight. "She was safely escorted to the French Embassy in D.C. under diplomatic immunity three hours ago."

The room gasped in unison.

"The woman your rogue marshals attempted to detain at our estate," Nathan continued, taking a step toward the dais, "was Senior Tactical Director Sarah Miller of Cole Security. And the entire illegal breach was recorded in eight-K resolution—including the forged warrant signed by your private liaison in the Department of Justice."

Vance’s face drained of every drop of color. "That... that’s impossible!"

The grand oak doors at the back of the committee room swung open with a thunderous bang.

The Attorney General of the United States stepped into the chamber, flanked by ten uniformed FBI Special Agents and the Director of the Securities and Exchange Commission.

"Senator Julian Vance," the Attorney General declared, his voice ringing across the marble hall, "you are under arrest for treason, illegal wiretapping, extortion, and systemic market manipulation under the RICO Act."

"This is a political hit job!" Vance shrieked, slamming his hands onto his desk as FBI agents marched up the steps of the dais. "I have senatorial immunity!"

"You surrendered your immunity the moment you broadcast a live extortion attempt on national television," the Attorney General replied coldly. "Take him into custody."

As the agents slapped heavy steel handcuffs onto Vance's wrists and dragged the screaming senator from his raised perch, the gallery descended into absolute bedlam. Press reporters shouted questions while live cameras captured the historic collapse of the Vance dynasty.

Nathan wrapped his broad arm around Isabella’s waist, shielding her completely as he guided her through the surging crowd toward the private exit.

The moment they stepped into the private holding room behind the Senate chamber, Nathan slammed the heavy door shut, locking it with a sharp twist of the deadbolt.

He turned, grabbing Isabella by her waist and lifting her effortlessly onto the edge of the mahogany conference table. He stepped between her thighs, his hands framing her face, his storm-grey eyes burning with wild, intoxicating passion.

"You executed that flawlessly, Madam Chair," Nathan growled against her lips, his breath hot and fast.

"We executed it, Counselor," Isabella gasped, her fingers tangling tightly in his dark hair, pulling his mouth down to hers.

Nathan kissed her with brutal, possessive intensity, claiming her lips in a deep, fierce seal of total victory that consumed the remaining adrenaline humming through her veins. Isabella arched into his touch, her hands clinging to his broad shoulders as he pressed her back against the table.

When he finally pulled back, his thumbs gently brushed her flushed cheeks, his dark smirk returning. "Vance is broken. His entire network in D.C. is collapsing as we speak."

A soft chime interrupted them. Isabella reached into her coat pocket, pulling out her secure satellite phone.

A single encrypted video message had just landed in her inbox from an anonymous Swiss server.

She clicked play.

The holographic projection lit up the dark holding room, showing a grand ballroom overlooking the Manhattan skyline. Standing by the window was the tall figure holding the golden dragon cane—the Grand Master of the Sovereign Council.

"Impudence, Chairwoman," the Grand Master’s cultured voice purred from the speaker. "You tore down the Valmonts, you drowned Sterling, and now you have destroyed the Vances. But the pawns were always meant to be sacrificed."

The camera panned to reveal a massive digital timer ticking down on the screen: 72:00:00.

"In three days, the Global Energy Summit convenes at the United Nations in New York," the Grand Master whispered softly, laced with absolute, chilling malice. "Bring your husband, Isabella. Bring your patents. Because on that stage, in front of every world leader, I will claim what belongs to the Council... or I will burn New York to the ground."
