LOGINLena barely slept that night.
The confidential acquisition proposal Alexander had given her was spread across her small dining table. Numbers, contracts, financial reports, and company profiles covered almost every inch of the surface. She rubbed her tired eyes. “Who gives someone one night to analyze all this?” Alexander Blackwood. Of course. She sighed and continued reading. There was something strange about the acquisition. Blackwood International was planning to purchase a smaller technology company called Veyron Solutions. On paper, the company looked profitable. But the numbers didn't match. Lena frowned. She checked the financial statements again. Then again. There it was. A hidden liability. Someone had transferred a large amount of debt into a subsidiary three years ago. If Blackwood International completed the acquisition without discovering it, the company could lose millions. Lena immediately grabbed her laptop. She worked until almost three in the morning. By sunrise, she had prepared a report. She stared at the clock. 7:12 a.m. “I'm going to regret this.” --- At exactly 7:55 a.m., Lena entered the Blackwood International building. She was holding two cups of coffee. One for herself. And one for the CEO. She wasn't sure why she had bought his coffee. Maybe because she had accidentally ruined his suit. Maybe because she was trying to make peace. Or maybe because she was terrified of disappointing him. She reached the executive floor. Before she could knock, the door opened. Alexander stood there. He was already dressed in another perfectly tailored black suit. His eyes immediately landed on the coffee in her hand. “What is that?” “Peace offering.” His eyebrow lifted. “For what?” “The suit.” “You already paid for it.” “Exactly. That's why I'm offering coffee instead.” Alexander stared at her. Then his gaze shifted to the cup. “What did you order?” “Black coffee. No sugar.” His expression changed slightly. “You remembered.” Lena shrugged. “You mentioned it yesterday.” He took the cup from her. “Thank you.” It was the first time she had heard those words from him. She smiled. “You're welcome.” Then she remembered the report. “I finished the analysis.” Alexander stepped aside. “Come in.” --- Ten minutes later, Lena stood in front of the large glass desk in his office. Alexander carefully read her report. His expression became more serious with every page. Finally, he looked up. “Where did you find this?” “The subsidiary records.” “These records were reviewed by three senior financial analysts.” “I know.” “And they missed it.” “Yes.” Alexander leaned back. “How?” “Because whoever prepared the documents wanted people to miss it.” He studied her. “You think it was intentional?” “I don't think.” Lena pointed at the report. “I know.” Alexander's eyes narrowed. “Explain.” “The debt was moved between three subsidiaries over eighteen months. The transactions were small enough not to attract attention individually, but together they create a liability of almost twenty million dollars.” Silence. Alexander slowly stood. “Twenty million.” Lena nodded. “If Blackwood International buys Veyron Solutions, we inherit that debt.” Alexander walked toward the windows. For several seconds, he said nothing. Then his phone rang. He answered. “What?” His expression immediately hardened. Lena watched him carefully. “What happened?” Alexander ended the call. “Veyron Solutions just accepted another offer.” Lena's eyes widened. “Another buyer?” “Yes.” “Who?” Alexander looked at her. “Someone who apparently knows about the debt.” Lena's stomach tightened. “Then they knew about the problem before us.” “Exactly.” He walked back to his desk. “And that means someone inside Blackwood leaked information.” Lena suddenly felt uncomfortable. “Do you think it was someone from your team?” “I know it was.” He looked directly at her. “And I don't know who.” Lena swallowed. “Why are you telling me this?” “Because from today onward, you won't be working as my assistant.” Her eyes widened. “What?” Alexander placed a new document in front of her. “I'm assigning you to my private executive team.” Lena stared at the document. “You're promoting me?” “Temporarily.” “To what position?” “Executive Strategy Assistant.” She couldn't believe it. “But I've only been here three months.” “I know.” “There are people with more experience.” “I know.” “They're going to hate me.” “I know.” Lena stared at him. “Do you always say ‘I know’ when someone has a reasonable argument?” “Yes.” She sighed. “Of course you do.” Alexander's lips curved slightly. Then his expression became serious again. “There is one condition.” “What?” “You work directly under me.” Lena's heart skipped. “Directly?” “Yes.” “No other supervisor?” “No.” “Why?” Alexander stepped closer. “Because I don't trust anyone else.” Their eyes met. For some reason, Lena couldn't look away. His voice became quieter. “And right now, you're the only person in this company I believe I can trust.” Lena's breath caught. Before she could respond, Alexander's phone rang again. He answered. His face changed. “What do you mean she's here?” Lena frowned. Alexander slowly looked at her. Then he said, “Don't let her leave the building.” Lena's heart began pounding. “Who is she?” Alexander ended the call. He looked at Lena with an expression she had never seen before. Fear. Not for himself. For her. “Lena…” “Yes?” “There is something you need to know.” He paused. “The woman who just entered this building…” His eyes darkened. “She is your older sister.”Lena stared at the DNA report. Her hands trembled as she read the result again.DNA MATCH: ADRIAN REYES — 99.98%.Her eyes filled with tears.“So it's true.”Alexander stood beside her, staring at the document.“Adrian is your biological father.”Lena nodded slowly.“But what about you?”Alexander's expression tightened.“That’s what we need to find out.”Behind them, Adrian was being helped out of the chapel by Ethan and Lara. The gunshot had only grazed his shoulder, but he was bleeding.Lena rushed toward him.“Dad!”Adrian looked at her and smiled weakly.“I’m okay.”“You were shot.”“I've survived worse.”Lena held the DNA report in front of him.“This says you're my biological father.”Adrian looked at it.Then he closed his eyes.“I knew someday you'd find out.”“Why didn't you tell me?”“Because I thought knowing would put you in more danger.”“It already did.”Adrian sighed.“I know.”Lena's voice broke.“Why did you leave me?”“I didn't.”She froze.“What?”“I never abandone
Lena stared at the phone in her hand. The voice was gone, but the name remained in her mind.Adrian.The man who was supposed to have died decades ago had just called her.And he claimed to be her biological father.Lara stood beside her, waiting.“What did he say?”Lena slowly looked up.“He said his name is Adrian Reyes.”Lara's eyes widened.“The Adrian Reyes?”Lena nodded.“The one everyone believed was dead.”Before either of them could say anything else, Gabriel entered the room.He immediately noticed their expressions.“What happened?”Lena looked at him.“Dad…”Gabriel stopped. She had never called him that with so much uncertainty.“What is it?”“Someone called me.”“Who?”Lena hesitated.“Adrian Reyes.”Gabriel's face lost all color.“No.”“He said he's alive.”“That isn't possible.”“That's what you told me about everything else.”Gabriel looked away.Lena stepped closer.“You told me Adrian was dead.”“I believed he was.”“You knew him.”“Yes.”“You were brothers.”Gabrie
Lena couldn't move. The words seemed to echo endlessly inside the vault.“Adrian Reyes was your biological father.”She looked at Alexander. He was staring at Edward, his face completely pale.“No,” Alexander whispered.Edward lowered his head.“I know what you're thinking.”Lena's voice trembled.“You're saying Alexander and I…”She couldn't finish.Edward nodded slowly.“Yes.”Lara immediately stepped forward.“That can't be true.”Michael looked at Edward.“You need to explain.”Edward sighed.“The records were altered years ago.”Lena shook her head.“Then explain everything. No more half-truths.”Edward looked at Gabriel.Gabriel's eyes were filled with pain.“Lena,” he said softly. She turned toward him.“You knew?”Gabriel shook his head.“I knew there were questions about your birth, but I didn't know the entire truth.”“You raised me.”“Yes.”“Then who is Adrian Reyes?”Gabriel looked down.“My older brother.”Lena's heart stopped.“So my real father was your brother?”“Yes.”
Darkness swallowed the vault.Lena could hear only her own heartbeat. Then came a quiet laugh.Richard.“He’s here,” Alexander whispered.A light suddenly flickered on.Richard stood at the other end of the chamber, holding a gun.But he wasn't alone. Two armed men stood behind him.Lena immediately moved closer to Alexander.Richard smiled.“Still hiding behind him?”Alexander stepped forward.“Let them go.”Richard laughed.“You don't understand your position.”“I understand enough.”“No.”Richard pointed the gun at him.“You're standing between me and everything I spent decades building.”Lena looked around.“This isn't yours.”Richard's smile disappeared.“Everything belongs to whoever is strong enough to take it.”Edward stepped forward.“You haven't changed.”Richard looked at him.“And you're still alive.”“For now.”Richard's eyes narrowed.“You should have stayed dead.”Edward smiled.“I tried.”Lena looked at him.“Grandfather, what is the will?”Edward reached inside his co
Lena stared at Catherine. The room had suddenly become unbearably quiet.“My grandmother?”Catherine didn't answer.Michael looked at her with an expression Lena had never seen before.Fear.Not anger. Not surprise.Fear.Lena stepped closer.“Mom, what is Grandfather talking about?”Catherine finally looked at her.“I knew this day would come.”“What does that mean?”Catherine closed her eyes.“It means the truth I've been hiding is finally impossible to hide.”Alexander moved beside Lena.“Tell us everything.”Catherine looked at him.“You deserve to know too.”Lena's voice trembled.“Are you really my grandmother?”Catherine shook her head.“No.”Lena exhaled in relief.“Then why did Grandfather say that?”“Because he doesn't know the entire truth.”Michael stepped forward.“Catherine…”She raised her hand.“Let me explain.”Everyone became silent.Catherine took a deep breath.“My real name isn't Catherine Blackwood.”Lena stared.“Then who are you?”Catherine looked at Michael.“
Lena stared at the phone long after the call ended. Her uncle had Gabriel. Her mother was supposedly responsible for the fire. And somehow, all the secrets of the past twenty-two years were connected.Alexander stood beside her.“We need a plan.”Lena nodded.“Daniel wants the Reyes documents.”“Then we'll give him something.”Lena looked at him.“You mean a fake?”“Exactly.”Ethan stepped forward.“I can help.”Lara nodded.“So can I.”Michael looked at all of them.“Before you do anything, listen to me.”Everyone turned toward him.“Daniel isn't the mastermind.”Lena frowned.“What?”Michael sighed.“I suspected him for years, but he wasn't powerful enough to organize everything.”“Then who is?”Michael looked toward Catherine. She immediately understood.“Isabella.”Lena shook her head.“She admitted she helped.”“She did more than help.”Michael's voice became serious.“She was the one who convinced Daniel to take Gabriel.”Lena's eyes widened.“Then why did Daniel say Mom ordered
