Lena’s voice barely came out.

The man behind the glass lifted his head.

For one impossible second, she thought he might smile.

Instead, he looked terrified.

Adrian stepped toward the steel door.

“Daniel!”

Thomas raised his gun.

“Stop.”

Adrian froze.

Lena’s eyes remained fixed on the man inside.

Daniel looked older than the photograph she had seen, his face thinner, his hair streaked with gray.

But there was no doubt.

It was him.

“Why is he locked in there?” Lena asked.
