********************************* POV: Claire*****************

---

The first lie you tell yourself in captivity is that you can wait.

Wait for a better chance. Wait for the door to be left open. Wait for him to slip up, to turn his back, to trust you. But waiting becomes a slow kind of rot. It eats your hope in tiny pieces, one blink at a time, until even breathing feels like a betrayal of the life you had before.

So I stopped waiting.

I started planning__strategizing and at the same time, waiting till it's the right time to implement everything that I have planned.

And today, I found my second thread.

After breakfast—tea I barely tasted and toast I didn’t touch—Liam handed me a sketchpad.

“You used to enjoy drawing,” he said, like he was doing me a kindness.

“I thought you might want something... familiar.” He rasped as he handed me the sketchpad.

I almost laughed.

Instead, I said, “Thank you.”

Trying to suppress the joy in my heart. My plans are progressing.

***************************** POV: Mack********************** --- I stared at the screen again. A static-smeared frame. A timecode flashing 13:22.I stared at the footage from the day Claire disappeared.I dreaded watching the footage but I had to see her face_her fierce smearing innocent eyes, her relaxed but tensed body_as if she foresaw this day. She had walked into frame, her head turned slightly to the right, distracted by something out of sight—and then she was gone. No struggle. No scream. It's just a blank span of footage where she should’ve been. The corruption was too precise. Too intentional.Too perfect.Something Liam would do with his smart-ass forsaking brain. “She was ghosted,” the CIA tech muttered beside me, his jaw tight with restrained frustration. He paced around the room as if he could figure out how she had just disappeared from the room. “Some kind of directional jammer—we’re still working on reconstructing.” He added, his eyes still glued to the scre

****************************POV: Claire*************************** --- I didn’t sleep. Not really. I lay in the dark for hours, my eyes fixed on the ceiling above me, every breath shallow and conscious. I counted the cracks in the plaster. The groans in the floorboards. The shifting of the wind as it slapped against the sea-facing walls. I replayed every word Liam had said, every subtle smile, every calculated movement. My pulse had steadied, but the tension hadn’t eased. It was like living inside a storm that had already passed — eerily still, but you knew something else was coming. And I had to be ready for it. When dawn finally bled through the windows in shades of pale gold and watery pink, I sat up. The salt air filtered through the cracked frame of the small window, crisp and cold against my cheeks. I moved carefully, testing every sound my body made, watching for the cameras — two in the bedroom that I’d found so far. One angled toward the door, another near the d

  • The CEO’s Temptation    Chapter 188: Our Beginning.

******************************* POV: Liam************************* The sea was quieter today. A porcelain cup in my hands, steam cukng into the air and vanishing with the breeze, I stood barefoot on the old stone balcony of the sea house. Below, the waves lapped rhythmically against the cliffs, the sound as familiar to me as my own heartbeat. He'd chosen thus place for a reason-not just for its isolation, but for its view. The world here was simpler. There was no noise, no interference, no lies. Just the ocean and Claire. Or soon, there would be. I glanced back over my shoulder toward the hallway that led to her room. I glanced back over my shoulder, toward the hallway that led to her room—the one I'd prepared carefully down to the tiniest detail. Her favorite sheets. Lavender oil in the diffuser. A nightstand stacked with her old sketchbooks, ones i had managed to save before she left. I had held onto everything. Every page. Every stroke of graphite, like each one, was a

****************************POV: Mack*************************** --- The war room—our fortress of digital firepower—felt suffocating tonight. Every screen cast a ghostly glow on sharp features and taut expressions. None of it mattered. Only Claire’s face, frozen on a monitor from the morning before her disappearance, pulled at my heart. She’d been taken. I paced the center of the room as Blake Reeves, a former CIA operative turned private asset, mapped out the known facts. “No trace of her on any domestic surveillance feeds or GPS pings,” he said. “Cameras, border crossings—all clean. Whoever did this, did it well.” My chest tightened. “Meaning?” I barked put of anger. “She’s not in the country.” He said. Silence dropped over us. “How far?” I asked. “Possibly offshore. Coastal region.” He muttered turning his gaze to the door. I exhaled hard. “It has to be somewhere remote. Discreet.” I rasped. "I found an offshore property under Liam's mother." Rowe

******************************POV: Rowe************************* I stood there-the surveillance room frozen, the echo of her boots still bouncing off the hallway tiles long after she was gone. The air felt heavier now-emptied pur, gutted. I hadn’t expected the kiss to fix anything. Hell no, I hadn’t even planned it. But for a moment, it had felt like we'd found a silver of light inside the wreckage. And then she ran. My fingers curled into fists at my sides, and my jaw tightened. Not out of anger-never at her. Just the helplessness. The ache. The wag her absence now filled the room like smoke. I could still feel her warmth on my skin, the tremble in her hands, the hesitation in her kiss. She was scared of everything. Of the feeling of too much h. And even though I understood, it didn't stop the hollow in my chest from growing deeper with every second she stayed gone. It wasn’t the silence that got to me. It was the guilt underneath it. I’d been in war zones quieter than t
