************************Liam's POV*************************

The scent of cedar and the rain drifted through the half-cracked window, but I barely noticed. My study was quite__ too quiet. The kind of quiet that comes after the storm, when you're sure if it's over or just waiting to return.

I stood by the fireplace, swirling a glass of bourbon I hadn't touched. The logs hissed softly, flames curling like whispers. On the table behind me, a black duffel bag waited.

They were late.

I checked my watch for the third time. 12:47 AM. The city below was asleep—or pretending to be. But not me. Not tonight. Not until this final piece slid into place.

A soft buzz echoed from the elevator.

Finally.

I turned just as the elevator door opened with a muffled chime. Three men stepped out __ all dressed in black, soaked from the rain. The one in front__ Roger__tossed the bag on the table with a dull thud.

"Everything's intact." He said.

"Phone, USB. Notes. He had backups, but we scrubbed his cloud befor

****************************POV: Liam******************** They think I’ve disappeared. They whisper in courtrooms and boardrooms like I’ve folded. Like the walls are closing in and I’ve finally stopped breathing. Headlines scream for justice, faces I used to trust now line up behind microphones and mutter words like "guilty" and "psychopath." But they forget—I built empires out of worse storms. And I don’t need public sympathy. I need her. Claire. The only thread left in this tangled web of betrayals and false accusations. The only thing that has ever felt clean in my hands. Even when I was drowning in lies, her voice still cut through the chaos like it belonged to another world. One where I wasn’t the monster, where things could be rewritten. I could almost believe in redemption again—until she ran. Until she chose them. Mack. Rowe. Liz. Traitors wrapped in righteous armor. But it doesn’t matter now. Because I’ve made my decision. No more games. No more cryptic notes or

*****************************POV: Liam************************** --- There was a moment just before the fire spreads—before the spark touches dry timber—when the world goes utterly, impossibly still. No sound. No movement. Just breath, held in anticipation of something irreversible. That’s where I stood now. Right on the edge of the matchstick. And I was about to strike. --- They think they’ve backed me into a corner. The media. The so-called security team. Rowe with his righteous anger. Mack with his fists and that desperate edge of a man who’s clinging too hard to what he’s afraid to lose. They think because I’ve gone quiet, I’m cornered. They couldn’t be more wrong. I’m calm because I’ve made a decision. I’m going to take Claire. And I’m going to marry her. No more games. No more whispered threats or carefully crafted distractions. This time, it’s direct. Risky? Absolutely. But obsession doesn’t wait for the perfect moment. And I’ve waited long enough. ---

  • The CEO’s Temptation    Chapter 179: Something like Peace.

************************POV:Liz************************************ --- There are rules to this kind of war. Unspoken ones. Things no one teaches you, but you figure out along the way. Rule one? Don’t get attached. Rule two? Don’t break rule one. I broke both the second Rowe looked at me like I wasn’t just part of the team—but someone who mattered. And now, I didn’t know how to switch it off. He hadn’t said anything. Of course he hadn’t. He wouldn’t. He was too disciplined. Too focused. And yet, the way his eyes lingered, the way his voice softened when he said my name—it was enough to make me forget what we were fighting for. Which was dangerous. So, so dangerous. I told myself it didn’t mean anything. That I was just exhausted and wired, and this thing—whatever it was—was just misplaced adrenaline. But the lie sat bitter in my mouth every time I saw him. Like now. I stood outside the war room, leaning against the cool stone wall, my arms folded. I should’ve been inside_

*****************************POV: Rowe************************ --- There were two kinds of quiet in the world. The first kind was peace—when birds sang, the air breathed easy, and the sun rose without hesitation. The wind howling like the only thing we needed at the moment. And the second? The second kind of peace was war. The kind that settled over everything right before the shot. The air stilled. The insects stopped. Even your heartbeat dared not make noise, as if sound alone might be the trigger. That was the quiet we were living in now. And I hated it. I watched the screen on my monitor flicker—one, two, three times. Then steady. The new security systems were holding. For now. We were patched. Reinforced. Reorganized. But no matter how tight we pulled the perimeter, Liam was still out there. Thinking. Moving. He’d gone silent since Caleb. Which made this even worse. Because silence didn’t mean surrender. It meant strategy. The knock on the surve

  • The CEO’s Temptation    Chapter 177: The Space Between Us.

*****************************POV: Mack************************* --- Caleb? I’d trusted him. Hell, I’d looked him in the eye two nights ago and handed him the keys to the northern gate. Said something like “stay sharp,” because that’s what we did—we guarded this place like it was a goddamn castle, and Claire was the crown we’d kill to protect. And he smiled. Polite. Steady. Loyal. Now, I knew better. Now, I couldn’t stop seeing the way his hand hovered over his belt too long. The way he asked to rotate shifts near the eastern fence. Subtle, careful, and quiet. Like Liam. That was the part that pissed me off most. Caleb wasn’t just a traitor. He was a reflection. Another piece Liam had moved into our house. Into her safety. “Are you okay?” Claire’s voice pulled me back. She stood in the doorway of my office, wrapped in one of my old button-downs—too big, sleeves rolled to her elbows. Barefoot. Her hair pulled into a messy knot that looked like she'd done it while pacing. S
