The night outside the cottage was too quiet, not peaceful, but something was wrong.

Kaizen noticed it first, that odd feeling…

He stood by the window for a long second, hand slowly tightening around his phone.

Nyra was still inside, folding the last of her things.

Kaizen smiled, warm and unwavering, even as the weight of Nyra’s whispered words still lingered between them. Everyone around them assumed he was heartbroken. Instead, a soft, confident laugh escaped him.“One more thing Nyra.”Nyra blinked, her emerald-green dress catching the light as she stared at him. “What?”“I asked you,” he said gently, eyes sparkling with affection. “You said ‘not yet.’ So I’ll ask again.”She let out a surprised laugh, covering her mouth. “You’re unbelievable...”“No,” Kaizen replied, stepping closer with that boyish persistence she was growing to adore. “I’m patient.”The people nearby chuckled warmly. Someone called out, “Campus King isn’t giving up!”Students and guests began gathering around them with playful energy. One girl grinned at Nyra. “Nyra, just say yes already!”Another added, “Girl, don’t make him suffer!”A guy laughed, clapping Kaizen on the shoulder. “Bro just got friend-zoned publicly.”Kaizen shook his head immediately, his voice full o

The ballroom sparkled under a thousand crystal lights, but in that moment, the entire world had narrowed to just the two of them. Kaizen stood before Nyra, heart laid bare, the delicate silver bracelet with its tiny open-book charm resting in his palm like a promise.Nyra’s breath trembled. Joy and terror tangled inside her chest as she looked into his eyes the eyes that had become her safe harbor. She stepped closer, her voice dropping to the softest whisper so only he could hear. The surrounding crowd faded into a distant hum; no one could afford to know the dangerous secret behind her hesitation.“I love you, Kaizen…” The words slipped out like a sacred confession, warm and true. His eyes widened, a flash of pure happiness crossing his face before she continued.“But love isn’t the problem.” Her voice cracked slightly. “Everything around us is.”The ballroom seemed to grow quieter, as if the music itself held its breath. Kaizen’s radiant smile slowly faded, yet he remained perfect

Nyra adjusted the strap of her handbag, her movements tense and determined. She was ready to leave, to face the Chairman no matter the cost.Kaizen suddenly stepped in front of the door, blocking her path with his tall frame.“You don’t have to go anymore.”She stared at him in disbelief, heart pounding. “Kaizen…”“Please.” His voice was gentle but firm.“I’m not giving up at the dying minute,” she whispered, tears shimmering in her eyes. “You don’t understand what this scholarship means to me. It means everything.”Kaizen smiled softly, his gaze filled with quiet affection. “I know.”“Then stop…..”“Stop packing,” he interrupted gently. She frowned, confused. “What?”Instead of answering, he pointed toward her phone lying on the coffee table. “It just rang.”Nyra picked it up with trembling fingers. A new email from Blackthorne Heights University waited in her inbox. Her breath caught as she opened it.“Dear Miss Nyra Solenne… Following the decision of the University Senate, your sch

  • The Campus King's Secret    Law Prevails

The penthouse had never felt so silent. Its vast, luxurious spaces, once a sanctuary, now pressed in on Nyra like invisible walls. For the first time since she had moved in, the elegance felt cold and confining rather than comforting. She stood by the floor-to-ceiling windows, arms wrapped tightly around herself, staring out at the glittering lights of Vancouver. The city pulsed with life below, cars weaving through streets like blood through veins but she couldn’t bring herself to admire it. Every passing headlight made her heart stutter with paranoia. Is that them? Have they come for me? Every distant knock or elevator ding sent icy chills racing down her spine. She pulled her cardigan tighter, the soft fabric offering little warmth against the fear gnawing at her insides. Her bare feet padded slowly toward the living room. Three unfamiliar men stood just outside the entrance, each dressed in sharp black suits, tiny earpieces glinting under the hallway lights. They carried themselv

Nyra's laughter slowly faded into sleepy murmurs as the wine finally took its toll. She leaned against Kaizen's shoulder, her eyelids fluttering shut."You're... surprisingly comfortable," she mumbled, words slurring together.Kaizen chuckled softly. "That's the wine talking.""No..." She poked his chest weakly, missing and landing on his neck instead. She giggled at her own clumsiness. "That's me talking. You've got two heads...""I only have one." His mind replayed to her drunk self at the inn as he chuckled. "I can clearly see two." She narrowed her eyes dramatically before bursting into another fit of laughter.Kaizen shook his head and sighhed. "Hopeless."Her smile slowly softened, the laughter disappeared. She looked at him for a long moment."You know... I'm scared."The words came out so quietly they almost disappeared into the silence."What if I lose everything? What if my scholarship never comes back? What if... what if tomorrow changes everything..what if….?"Kaizen's
