PART TWO : LYLA’S CHAINS

Lyla's POV

There was a crack in my wall. It was barely visible but whenever I pressed my body hard against it, I could see it. The room was empty, other than that. I opened the curtains and closed them a million times, wondering if I had finally descended into hell.

It had just been a day, yet I was running mad.

The corridors echoed into my room, so I heard the heavy footsteps before the person got there. I quickly rushed to the springy bed, waiting.

The door opened. A bald man, tatted in every spot including his head stood there. He was extremely short, maybe four feet and ten inches.

“You're the new girl,” he asked me, his gray eyes perusing my face. “Yes,” I replied, swallowing nervously.

“Get up.”

I did as he asked, still covered in mud and dirt. “You stink,” he said angrily, like it was my fault. Like Eli had not dragged me here, wherever it was.
