3. A Prophecy

I was patiently waiting for Brooke to break the 'news'. It had to be a very trivial thing since James was in the room but with the tension that hung over us, I was not so sure.

 “Can someone explain to me, what the fuck is going on? ” I ask, taking a smoke out of my pocket. They were putting me on edge and I hated it. They should just let the cat outta the bag! 

 “There's a war coming. Not to the pack alone but to the entire werewolf race. The Blue Meadows Pack has been chosen to lead the war…” Brooke paused, taking a deep breath.

 Her eyes were glazed and I knew from experience that she was not the one speaking. Sometimes, she did not even know what she was saying. Brooke is a prophecy wolf and as a result, anything she says will come to pass.

 We like to say she is the gift from the goddess to us.

 Her eyes glow brighter than ever and I back away. “The war is going to begin with your men and a Chinese human, Mr. Sei is the name he goes by… After his death, the war against supernaturals will begin.” Her tone is fierce and the authority in her voice makes me wonder why Selene didn't make her the alpha.

 “We have to be ready and willing to fight this battle. Many will lose their lives but it will be worth it. The war may begin during your reign as alpha or years after but the goddess warns that we should be ready to face what is coming!”

 She is done and her aura reigns in once again. I shake of the nervous feeling and turn to look at James. Obviously, he is still feeling the impact of Brooke's power and the only reason why I can feel it no more is because I am an alpha.

 “I don't need to tell you what to do. We need to recruit more warriors and morning training should be daily.” Brooke says and hops on James' laps, making me roll my eyes. Not in disgust but with jealousy.

 “The children and teens should be exempted now. The training is definitely going to be intense." I say with a tone of finality. 

 'Call for a meeting with allths head warriors. We need to recruit more warriors now.' I mindlink Carlos, my delta and head of the weaponry unit.

 “You just mindlinked Carlos." James smiles as his phone beeps. 

 “Yeah. I need to talk to the rest of you guys in person to see if you are all ready and willing for this. We don't want any ducker chickening out on the last moment.” I reply. 

 James was one of the head warriors and no, it was not because of his chosen mate's position. He is really good, actually one of the best that we have. 

 “You should get going then. They wouldn't want to keep their alpha waiting and you shouldn't do the same.” Brooke winks just before James pulls her in for a kiss. 

 I sigh, only if I can swallow my pride and go to the Claiming Ball which is held once every year and on the second blood moon in the year, I may just get my mate. During a claiming ball, if you don't find your mate, you can take a chosen mate and claim her. 

 The idea of taking a chosen doesn't sit well with me. I want my own mate, I want to see the woman that Selene fucking created just for me. 

 

 Taking a chosen mate to me, is just like taking something or in this case, someone that isn't yours.

I had the meeting with the warriors and they are all fucking fine with it. They have gone out to the training centre to scout for more warriors as told.

 The training centre is a place where prospective pack warriors are trained for a year. After that year, they go through a rigorous month of trainings before they are initiated into the guild of warriors. 

 This time, their training is not up to a year but we will have to pick the best of the best and give them a thorough and intense training… It won't be easy and I won't go easy on them but the enemy isn't going to go easy on us…

 I snag a spot in the parking lot of one of my numerous hotels, locking it with my key fob and walking into the place.

 The receptionist bows her head and I nod back at her. Its our sacred code and I know the two bitches who I ordered to wait for me are in the usual room. 

 They won't be able to wait any longer as I give them aphrodisiacs so they can match my crazy sex drive. Its done consensually and there is no problem, most of the time…
