Chapter 3

Author: Yogurt Monster
If I were going to do this, then I needed to gather as much evidence as possible.

Using the jewelry order as an excuse, I continued coaxing Yvonne, "For custom pieces, we'll need to register some of your details for verification later. Could you send me your husband's name and contact information?"

She didn't hesitate for a second and gave me Finnick's name right away.

She added, almost as if she was worried I wouldn't take it seriously, "Just don't mess this up. My husband isn't someone you can offend."

My fingers trembled slightly as I typed my next message.

"You seem really happy. You and your husband must be deeply in love. Would you mind telling me how you met? And if you have any photos of the two of you together, that would help, too. I can design something more personal based on your story."

The next second, she sent over a full set of wedding photos. In it, she wore a white wedding gown, leaning into Finnick's arms with a soft smile. The way he looked at her carried a kind of warmth I had never once received.

When we got married, he had been at a critical point in his career.

Back then, he told me wedding photos were just something people did to indulge themselves and that his time shouldn't be wasted on that kind of thing.

But it wasn't that he didn't understand romance. He just never bothered giving it to me.

Yvonne kept bragging, her messages popping up one after another.

"My husband's really good to me. He never upsets me."

"Yeah, he's married, but he doesn't care about her anymore. I'm the only one he cares about."

"She can't even have kids. Everything he has is going to my son and me anyway."

She laid everything out like it was something to be proud of, like proof that she had won. I stared at the screen, my chest tightening with every word, and still, I played along.

"You're really lucky. Not everyone gets to be loved like that. I'm really envious. Don't worry. I'll make sure the piece is done with the best materials."

Flattered, she kept talking, going into detail about how they met and fell for each other, completely unaware that I was recording everything.

The large money transfers, the house, and the car—every single thing he gave her had come from money we earned together.

The more I saw, the more numb I felt.

The money I had hesitated to spend and that he told me we needed to save had poured all of it into someone else.

I couldn't hold it in anymore. I set my phone aside and covered my mouth, sobbing quietly.

All those years we had been together, I was the only one playing for keeps.

When I finally stopped, I wiped my face, the corners of my lips lifting into a cold smirk. Crying wouldn't change anything. If I wanted everything back, I had to take it myself.

After pulling myself together, I changed into a formal outfit and went to his company as his wife.

As I walked through the office, every employee lowered their head when they saw me. No one met my eyes, and their expressions were nervous.

They had all known, but they just never told me.

I didn't stop. I walked straight to the CEO's office and pushed the door open.

The moment it opened, the scene inside hit me like a punch to the gut.

Yvonne was sitting on Finnick's lap, her arms looped around his neck, laughing. Finnick looked at her, his expression tender.

They both turned at the sound.

The second Yvonne saw me, her face drained of color, and she scrambled off his lap.

Finnick froze, and for a moment, he couldn't even speak.

While Finnick was still drowning in anger over how thoroughly I had cornered him, and while he and Yvonne were busy tearing each other apart, an anonymous package was delivered to the apartment he was renting. It contained only a single document. The moment Finnick opened it, his face turned pale. It was a fertility report with his name on it, stating that he had congenital azoospermia and no possibility of having children. Attached beneath it was a copy of his premarital medical exam records from years ago.Back then, to protect his pride, I had always told him there was nothing wrong with him and that I simply wasn't ready to have a child yet.Beneath the report, I had left him a note. "The paternity test I showed you back then was fake. Congratulations on becoming a father without even trying!"He stood there, completely stunned. He couldn't have children, so whose child had he been doting on?Like a madman, Finnick grabbed Yvonne, who was about to leave, and demanded, "Wha

I asked Finnick to meet me at the restaurant where we had first gotten together.I placed the company's asset valuation report in front of him and said, "You have a choice. If you sign the divorce papers, you can keep that shell of a company you have left."With something still in your name, you might be able to start over one day. But if you don't sign, I'll keep going. Give it three days, and you'll lose everything."He stared at me intently, his expression unreadable. "You're ruthless, Winona. You're utterly cruel," Finnick uttered through gritted teeth.Unfortunately, he had no other option. He knew I meant every word. If he refused to sign the papers, things would only get worse. In the end, his hand trembled as he picked up the pen and signed his name on the divorce agreement. The moment he finished, Yvonne rushed in.She clearly thought her moment had finally come. She looked at me provocatively. "Mrs. Carson… I should call you Ms. Stafford now. Finnick is mine now. No

Finnick refused, of course. With his company bankrupt, I was his only lifeline left. From that day on, he threw himself into winning me back like a man possessed. He stopped seeing Yvonne completely, no matter how the woman he had once doted on cried and screamed outside the door. However, Yvonne wasn't about to give up her chance of taking my spot. She went to Finnick and said, "Darling, that old hag is finally agreeing to a divorce, so why aren't you going along with it? With your ability, we'll be back on our feet again in no time!"Finnick shook her off immediately. "Don't call me that. The only person I've ever loved is my wife. You and that child were just a mistake."He said it so earnestly, as if every word came from the heart, and didn't care at all how devastated Yvonne looked. However, I only found it pathetic. What he loved had never been me. What he loved was my family's influence and my ability to clean up his messes. In the days that followed, Finnick played the

"What did you just say?" Finnick had disbelief written all over his face. But the moment his eyes dropped to the documents scattered across the floor, his eyes widened, and the color drained from his face.Every page was irrefutable proof of his affair, but he still tried to cling to a last excuse, his voice trembling as he said, "Honey, just listen to me. This is all a misunderstanding. She came onto me, and I had a moment of weakness—""A moment of weakness?"I let out a quiet, humorless laugh and pulled a sheet from the stack before holding it up. "Then, explain this."The words "paternity test report" on the page hit him like a blow, and there was no denying the blood relationship between him and Benjamin.I looked down at him. "Finnick, I've known for a long time. On Christmas night, I saw you holding that boy with my own eyes while you promised Yvonne jewelry and even an amusement park. From that moment on, I stopped loving you."Shock flashed across his face, quickly repl

Finnick's company still looked fine on the surface, but underneath, it had already been gutted.Between the funds he had quietly diverted and my parents' moves behind the scenes, the gap in the cash flow had long passed the point where it could be fixed.I watched it all happen without stepping in.I had already separated every asset under my name ahead of time, going through everything piece by piece so it was clean, clear, and completely out of his reach.Once everything was ready, I told my parents they could move forward. They didn't hold back, and Finnick was caught completely off guard.Investors pulled out without warning, the banks froze lending, and employees started leaving one after another, until the company that had once been thriving became nothing more than an empty shell.Left with no other choice, a panicked Finnick came rushing home.He caught me by the wrist, his voice cracking. "Honey, something has happened to the company. We've got a cash flow problem. You

Yvonne's reply came almost instantly. "Who says I can't buy it? I'm taking that set!"I tapped the screen, pretending to be put on the spot. "I'm really sorry, but that piece was custom-ordered by Mr. Carson for his wife and has already been scheduled for production."That completely set her off. "Then, change it. I'll pay triple. Does that old hag really deserve something like that? She should take a good, hard look at herself! Sell it to me, and I'll bring my husband in to pay right now."My gaze turned icy as a cold smile touched my lips. This was almost too easy.I had been worried about not having enough solid evidence, yet she had just handed me exactly what I needed.I acted as if I were struggling with the decision for a long time before finally giving in. "Alright. Since we've been working together, I'll make an exception, but you have to come tomorrow to complete the payment."Yvonne agreed without hesitation. At almost the same time, Finnick's phone started vibrating
