I sat frozen on the edge of the table, legs still open, the air cold against my bare skin.

My pussy was still throbbing, wet and empty, aching from how deep he had been only seconds ago. My nipples remained hard, sensitive, brushing against the torn edges of my open shirt every time I breathed. Between my thighs, I could still feel the stretch of him, the unfinished heat that refused to fade.

Garrison stood in front of me, breathing hard. His cock was still fully hard, thick and glistening from being inside me, standing rigid against his open pants. A muscle worked in his jaw as he stared at me, clearly fighting the urge to push back in and finish what the intercom had cut short.

For thirty long seconds neither of us moved.

Then he exhaled through his nose and forced himself to step back. He shoved his cock back into his pants with a rough hand, the movement stiff with leftover need, and zipped up. He picked up his vest from the floor, fixed his uniform with sharp, practiced movements, and buckled the straps.

I closed my legs, the slickness between them making me flinch, and pulled my shirt together with shaking fingers. My nipples were still peaked, clearly visible through the thin fabric. I yanked my pants back up, the pressure against my still-sensitive clit almost painful.

"Stay here," Garrison ordered, his voice dropping into a flat, commanding tone that didn’t quite hide the strain. "Do not open this door for anyone."

"She is alive," I whispered, my mind racing. "How did she survive the crowd? How did she find your father's transport?"

"Cynthia is a cockroach, Valerie. She always finds a way to exploit a higher authority."

He checked the sidearm at his hip, ensuring the safety was off.

"My father thinks he still runs this sector because of his rank. He doesn't realize the soldiers answer to me now. I will handle this."

"Let me come with you," I said, sliding off the table. My thighs pressed together, still wet. "If she tells your father what you did in the tunnel, they will arrest you for treason."

Garrison stopped at the door, looking back at me over his shoulder. His expression was completely unreadable, but his eyes still carried the heat of what we had just done.

"They can try. Stay inside, Valerie. That is an order."

He stepped out, and the door locked automatically behind him.

I couldn't just sit there.

I finished fixing my clothes and walked over to the monitoring terminal on the wall. It was a standard security screen that Garrison used to oversee the sector. I punched in the override code he had used six months ago during the training drills. He hadn't changed it.

The screen flickered to life, showing the black-and-white feed of the secondary processing gate.

The scene was pure chaos.

A sleek, armored luxury van sat in the center of the loading bay. Three older men in bespoke suits stood near the rear bumper, arguing with the guards. One of them was my father, his hair disheveled but his posture still radiating arrogant authority.

Standing next to him was General Vance, Garrison's estranged father.

And huddled in the center of the circle, wrapped in a thick fur coat, was Cynthia.

She looked pale, her hair a mess, but she was entirely unharmed. She was weeping into a handkerchief, her shoulders shaking violently as she spoke to General Vance.

The audio feed crackled as I turned up the volume on the terminal.

"—he tried to murder me!" Cynthia's voice echoed through the small monitor speakers. "Garrison threw me out of the transport straight into those monsters! If your rescue team hadn't spotted me near the ventilation shaft, I would be dead! Look at my hands, General! I am ruined!"

General Vance slammed his fist against the side of the armored van.

"That boy has gone too far. He thinks because he controls the local militia he can execute citizens? Where is he?"

My father stepped forward, his face twisted in rage.

"He did it for Valerie. I know it. That ungrateful brat has been jealous of Cynthia her entire life. She must have whispered in his ear, convinced him to leave my precious daughter behind to steal her place!"

The security doors of the loading bay swung open on the screen. Garrison walked into the frame, flanked by four of his personal guards.

He didn't look like a son meeting his father. He looked like a warlord entering an enemy camp.

"Quiet down," Garrison said, his voice cutting through the shouting on the screen. "You are disrupting the quarantine protocols."

"Quarantine?" General Vance roared, marching up to his son. "You threw your future wife to the infected, Garrison! Explain yourself before I have these guards put you in cuffs!"

Garrison didn't flinch. He looked down at his father with absolute disdain.

"The vehicle was over the weight capacity due to a system failure. I made a decision based on survival probability. Miss Cynthia Kane showed zero physical competence and failed to follow direct orders during an active breach. She was a liability to the squad."

"A liability?" my father shrieked, pushing past the General. "She is your fiancée! Our family funded your entire weapon upgrade program last winter!"

"The winter is over, Mr. Kane," Garrison said coldly. "And so is the old government. Your money is paper now. Your contracts are trash. The only thing that matters in this sanctuary is who keeps the air filters running and who keeps the walls sealed. That is me."

Cynthia stood up from her seat, dropping the fur coat. She walked slowly toward Garrison, her tears suddenly stopping. She gave him a look full of venomous spite.

"You think you won, Garrison?" Cynthia whispered, her voice carrying clearly over the microphone. "You think you can just keep Valerie hidden away in your room like a little prize? I told the General everything. I told him about the medical supplies she stole from the city clinic before we left."

My heart stopped.

I looked at the spilled backpack on the floor of the room. I hadn't stolen them. I had taken them to save lives. But in a strict military sanctuary, unauthorized possession of medical resources was considered a capital crime.

"She has class-four antibiotics in her bag, General," Cynthia said with a sickeningly sweet smile. "Resources that belong to the military sector. According to the sanctuary charter your son signed last month, hoarding medical supplies is punishable by immediate exile to the outer zone."

General Vance looked at his son, a triumphant grin spreading across his old face.

"Is that true, Commander? Is your little mistress holding stolen military property?"

Garrison didn't answer immediately. He stared at Cynthia, his eyes turning into dark, vicious chips of stone.

"Valerie is a registered medical officer. She has authorization to transport supplies."

"Not without a stamped manifest from the central depot," General Vance countered. "Search his quarters, Captain."

Two of the General's personal guards immediately turned toward the corridor leading to our room.

On the monitor, I saw Garrison shift his weight, his hand falling naturally to the grip of his rifle. His men behind him did the same, their barrels lowering slightly toward the General's detail.

The tension in the loading bay became explosive. One wrong move, and a civil war would start inside the bunker before the red fog even reached the gates.

"Don't do it, Father," Garrison said, his voice deadly quiet. "If your men take one step down that hallway, they won't make it back."

"Are you threatening a superior officer?" General Vance shouted.

"I am stating a fact," Garrison replied.

Inside the room, I knew I had only a few seconds before the situation dissolved into a bloodbath. If Garrison killed his father's men to protect me, the entire sanctuary structure would collapse from the inside, leaving everyone vulnerable to the monsters outside.

I looked at the supplies scattered on the floor.

I needed to hide them, or I needed to face them.

Suddenly, a loud scraping sound echoed from the ventilation duct above my head.

I looked up.

The metal grate of the ceiling vent was vibrating. A faint, sweet smell began to drift down into the room.

The smell of wild berries and burnt sugar.

The steel doors of the elite sector hissed shut, locking out the screams of the dying world. The underground sanctuary smelled like cold concrete and filtered air. Garrison did not drop his grip on my wrist as he pulled me down the sterile white corridor. His boots clacked sharply against the metallic floor. Soldiers in armor saluted as he passed, but he did not acknowledge them. His jaw remained locked, a sharp line of tension tracking down his neck. "Garrison, you are hurting me," I said, stumbling slightly to keep up with his massive stride. He stopped abruptly outside a door marked Commanding Officer. He swiped his biometric card, and the panel beeped green. He pushed me inside the dimly lit room and slammed the door behind us, locking the deadbolt with a loud click. "I saved your life," Garrison said, spinning around to face me. He ripped off his vest, dropping it to the floor with a heavy thud. "You almost let that ungrateful bitch kill you in the tunnel." "She is my siste

I held the mask tightly against my chest, pulling away from her. "There is only one spare, Cynthia. Garrison gave it to me." "Give it to me, Valerie," Cynthia demanded, her voice rising to a screech. "You always try to take what's mine! First Father's attention, then my engagement, and now this? You want me to die!" I shot back. "Shut up," Garrison growled. The sheer force of his voice made both of us freeze. He didn't look at Cynthia. He kept his eyes on the iron doors of the elevator shaft. "The next person who speaks without my permission gets left in this tunnel. Am I clear?" Cynthia shrank back, her lips trembling as she glared at me. Garrison hit the manual release lever. The iron gates slid back with a loud, metallic screech. The maintenance tunnel was vast, lit by flickering fluorescent tubes. A heavy, armored transport vehicle sat twenty yards away, its engine idling with a deep, low rumble. But between us and the vehicle, three figures were wandering through the d

Cynthia gasped, stepping back. She looked at me, expecting me to defend her like I always did. I remained silent, adjusting the strap of my backpack."Move," Garrison ordered his men. "Secure the service elevator. The main shaft is dead."The two soldiers nodded, moving swiftly out into the corridor. Garrison grabbed my wrist, his fingers wrapping completely around it. His grip was tight, possessive, and warm against my skin. He began pulling me toward the exit."Wait!" Cynthia shrieked. She grabbed her designer leather suitcase from the floor, struggling to drag it."My things! I need my jewelry and my clothes!""Leave it," Garrison snapped without stopping. "The air filters down there only support basic survival gear. Anything extra gets burned at the checkpoint.""Valerie, help me!" Cynthia yelled, her voice cracking with genuine panic now. "You have to carry it! My heart is racing, Valerie!"I looked back at her over my shoulder. For the first time in my life, I did not stop. I di

  • The Commander’s Price: Claimed in the Apocalypse    The Air Siren

Valerie’s POV The sky turned the color of bruised plums before the first siren went off. I stood on the glass balcony of the central city penthouse, watching the horizon. A thick, dark crimson cloud crawled over the distant skyscrapers. It did not look like a storm. It looked like blood filling a glass of water. Down on the streets below, cars were locked bumper to bumper. People abandoned their vehicles, running toward the underground transit stations. The city was screaming, but up on the thirtieth floor, the sound only reached me as a faint, buzzing vibration. "Close the glass door, Valerie. You are letting the heat out." Cynthia sat on the velvet sofa, entirely untouched by the panic outside. She swiped through her tablet, her manicured fingers moving with complete calm. She wore a silk dress that cost more than I made in three months at the clinic. She always looked perfect. Even when the emergency broadcasts started looping on every television network an hour ago, she bare
