I was a struggling student, and after I argued with Julian Grant yet again over our different attitudes toward money, he began desperately trying to win me back. He sent me flowers and meals every day and waited for me outside my dormitory. But I remained determined to break up with him. My best friend tried to persuade me: "Julian has practically begged you to take him back, and you're still going to keep putting on airs? "If you truly don't want him, I'll pursue him myself. I'll treat him right." I was about to snap back at her when I saw the comments floating across my vision: [The female lead is finally starting to feel sorry for the male lead. Their sweet romance is about to begin.] [This irrelevant female antagonist is seriously irritating. She's dirt poor and still so pretentious. Just write her out already!] [Can the male and female leads just get together already? I don't want any more scenes with this side character!]

Chapter 1

"What do you mean?"

"I was only joking. Ashley, you can take a joke, can't you?"

Marigold Lowe looked at me, and the seriousness in her eyes seemed genuine.

I gave a cold laugh.

"Whether it was a joke or not, you know exactly what you meant."

Marigold's expression turned cold.

"Ashley Scott, what kind of person do you take me for? We've been best friends for so many years, and this is how little you trust me?"

She looked so heartbroken that I almost thought I had imagined what she said earlier.

The comments immediately rushed to defend her.

[The female antagonist is disgusting. She causes a scene over everything, yet she won't even let other people pursue happiness.]

[She wants the best of both worlds. It must have been exhausting for the male lead to put up with her for so long. She has such a rich boyfriend, yet she still acts so spoiled and demanding. If I were her boyfriend, I would have crushed her pride long ago!]

[I feel so sorry for our female lead. She still has to pretend to be cordial with this bitch. I really want to slap the female antagonist across the face.]

I found the whole thing absurd.

Marigold wanted to steal my boyfriend, yet the comments treated her as the protagonist. The problems between Julian and me had somehow become unforgivable crimes.

When I didn't answer, Marigold rolled her eyes angrily.

"I clearly misjudged you. I treated you as my best friend for all these years, and this is what you think of me?

"You've disappointed me so much, Ashley Scott."

She was remarkably skilled at twisting right and wrong.

I smiled.

"It must have been hard for you to keep your feelings for Julian hidden while watching him date me.

"How exhausting for you. At least you finally found an opportunity to say what you really think."

I folded my arms and tilted my head at her.

"Marigold, if you put as much effort into studying as you do into being a homewrecker, you wouldn't have failed six or seven classes."

Marigold's face turned bright red.

Her lips trembled. Then she finally broke down, covered her face, and began to cry.

[The female antagonist is so shameless. Our female lead has kept her crush hidden all this time and even comforted the female antagonist whenever she threw a tantrum.

[She's so kind and never fights for anything, yet the female antagonist still calls her a homewrecker.]

[She causes all those problems and still has the nerve to judge other people's morals. The female antagonist is absolutely disgusting.]

[I can't take this anymore. When will this part end? I'm dying to see the male and female leads fall in love sweetly.]

[I agree! I want to see our darling girl enjoy her life as a wealthy man's wife. The vicious female antagonist should take the hint and leave the story already!]

Me?

The vicious female antagonist?

Since when could someone with such questionable morals be the female protagonist?

A homewrecker could be praised for bravely pursuing love, while I became the unreasonable one for having my relationship sabotaged.

Marigold cried bitterly.

I studied the comments carefully and pieced together the complete plot that would follow.

After I dumped Julian, he began indulging in a life of excess.

As the female lead, Marigold became a ray of light that illuminated his world. She was bright and sunny, and she led Julian out of the darkness of heartbreak.
