Brielle's POV

I couldn’t take it anymore. The nightmares were tearing me apart, and the flashbacks during the day left me constantly on edge. That night was proof that it was getting worse.

Zane had tried to be there, tried to reach out but I knew he wasn't the one I needed. My heart yearned for someone different, someone I was too broken to meet after the incident of the previous night.

I found Lucien in his study, buried in his work as usual. His eyes met mine, and I saw that he looked concerned for a split second.

“You look better than last night, are you?” He asked, standing up.

I hesitated, feeling a bit stupid.

“Thats what i want to talk to you about. I dont know what's going on with me but I'm slowly losing my mind. Everyday, every moment, my heart quakes in fear,"

His expression softened a bit.

“Tell me everything.”

I exhaled before I explained, "It started once a day, then progressed. I am always back to the cliff, falling off.I can feel it, the waves slapping across my face as I get propelled towards my death,"

I paused to breath when the feeling became too intense to bear.

"I die over and over. I don't know how much more I can take of it,"

“Dreams are often representation of what our wolves feel, what they had sensed." Lucien said. “I don't know whats happening within you but I know who might. There’s a priestess in the woods. She could help shed some light in this,”

I was surprised.

“A Priestess? ”

“They are trained for this. I could have advised a hospital but I doubt they could discover the root of the issue," He pointed out.

"Can we leave now?" I inquired. I was in haste to get the issue fixed.

"Aren't you going to get Zane?"

I hesitated to give the response but I had to be honest, "I doubt he will understand,"

"Let's go," Lucien said as he grabbed his jacket.

******

The journey was awkwardly silent. I tried thinking up conversations but nothing came to mind. The trek wasn't as long as I expected it to be.

Soon, we got to a small cabin hidden among the trees.

An elderly woman opened the door, her slit eyes sharp and her lips terribly charred.

“Lucien, what brings you here?” She asked, her eyes shifting to me. “And who is this?”

“Brielle,” Lucien said. “ She's the reason we are here, she needs your help,"

She nodded, stepping aside to let us in. The cabin was filled with strange artefacts, and the air heavy with the scent of herbs and incense. She motioned for me to sit, her eyes never leaving mine.

"Noone ever comes to say hi. You always bring problem to my doorstep," She beckoned us to take a seat.

"Well, you are pretty busy. It would be rude to disturb your very important business," Lucien gave a response that made her snicker, exposing her brown dentals.

"So what brings you, girl?"

I took a deep breath and explained everything. She listened with a non chalant look, her slit eyes staring at me keenly while I spoke.

She breathed heavily by the time I was done.

"You never bring a boring issue to my treehouse," She said to Lucienbsho smirked in response.

"Let me see your hand girl,"

She grabbed my hand and mumbled strange words to herself. suddenly a calm bit terrifying wind blew into the apartment, causing the air to become eerie.

After a while, she calmly adjusted on her Ricky chair and poured herself tea.

“You did indeed die during your jump from the cliff.”

My heart skipped a beat.

“What do you mean? I’m here, alive.”

"Are you though?" She shot back.

"What do you mean?"

"Your body is here, your mind is here, but is your spirit here?" She asked and I had no answer to that.

"There is a point called the veil. A place between life and death but you my girl, was pushed back to life from that point by someone longing to be alive. Someone longing for vengeance, someone who died in that very cliff,"

"So you are saying I'm supposed to be dead?"

"Lucien," She called out calmly.

"Where did you find this girl from? She's slow," Lucien chuckled as he fell back on the couch.

"In all consideration, you died but came back with a spirit looking for closure," She answered my question.

"Now you are inflicted with dreams of the person's death, so that you can remember yours. Right now your memory is blank,"

"No, my dreams are about my death. I die in the dream,"

"You experience the person die, it's not you. never you," She replied.

At that point, I thought about it and realized that there was no name nor face to confirm that I was.

"Now it left behind a curse,"

I glanced at Lucien, who looked equally stunned.

“Who is this person? Why does she want revenge?”

"I have no idea on that," She answered.

"Can it be broken?" Lucien asked.

The priestess sighed.

“It’s possible, but it will be difficult. The curse is powerful and deeply entwined with your soul.”

Lucien stepped forward. “What do we need to do?”

“You need to confront it and find out what it needs,” She replied with a trembling voice.

“But you have to be careful, she's sticking around for a reason. If that reason is something keen, she might not let go until she has completed it,”

“I'm ready,” I uttered with hesitation.

“I need the nightmares and drama to end, so please,”

“You might want to relax, baby girl,” Lucien urged.

“She said it's risky, why not evaluate the risks,”

“So now you care about me?” I reacted in shock, staring into his eyes for some emotion.

“You didn't speak to me for months after you rejected me,”

“You are dating my brother!” He snapped out of the blue. His chest contracted as he exhaled heavily. I stared in awe because it was the first time he showed genuine emotion.

“What then do you want? My sympathy?”

“I don't want to know what's happening,” The old lady spoke, disrupting the discussion.

“But I think you are on a clock. You need to take that curse out or you are going back to the veil,”

Epilogue Third Person's POV “How are you holding up?” Rio asked Brielle after the council of Alpha that was held in the Eclipse pack. Brielle decided not to attend the meeting because it felt like torture to be around people at the time. “Fine, everyday, a new process and new method of looking forward,” She responded with a smile. Rio's face was covered in slash scars that were still healing. “It's been weeks but I can still feel the tension,” he confessed as he laid his back against a post. “Crescent pack has begun a democratic form of leadership that will be overseen by Eclipse and the Blue Moon. As from now on, they will elect their own leaders,” “You know soon, this method will spread across other packs,” I pointed out. “Looking forward to it,” he replied with a grin. “It surely beats being born into a responsibility you didn't ask for,” “True,” Brielle reacted. “Everything is going fine, I'm free but yet I don't feel free,” He walked to her side and exhaled heavily. “

Brielle's POV“You think anger adds to strength, it doesn't,” Chase's wolf said. I was spooked when I heard it speak, it wasn't possible for a wolf to speak but I knew Chase wasn't a normal alpha like the rest. He had his paws in Lucien, crushing him to the floor. Rio and Zane were holding the rest of the alphas back and Angelina stood by the corner. She was the first one to notice me. “Why are you doing this?” I asked him. They were all shocked to see me on my feet. I held the dagger I had pulled out of my back and a sudden relief came over me. “Impossible,” Chase remarked. “You won't just die,” “No!” Angelina roared. Lucien transformed back and hurried to me. His body was scarred with claw marks and slashes. “How? Where? What's going on?” He was surprised to see me. His hands couldn't let go of mine as tears escaped his eyes. “I'm sorry, I should have protected you,” “I'm here now and we have a job to finish,” I said to him as I wiped his tears. “It's strange seeing you cry

Third Person's POV Everything felt cold, her mind sunk into the darkness and gradually got pulled into a strange void. An occurrence that caused her to gasp suddenly and jolt awake. Brielle woke up in a room, on a bed. She looked around in confusion and fright and realized it was her old room, the one back home in Crescent. She had almost forgotten how it was. “How?” She asked herself, looking around again curiously. She tried flashing back to what she remembered last but it felt blank to her. She remembered being stabbed by a lady called Angelina but it felt like a dream to her. “Sweetheart,” someone pushed open the room's door. She cowered backwards when he stepped in. It was like seeing a ghost and he was a ghost. “Brielle, are you okay? You seem frightened, honey? Is it the nightmares again?” “Dad,” she exhaled heavily, her heart thumping against her chest as she drew closer to her father. “How…how is this possible?” “How is what?” Her dad asked with a perplexed look. “I

Lucien's POV “You fight like a little boy,” Chase remarked as he crushed my windpipe with his boot. I was only able to take down two alphas before they brought me down. I could hear Rio grunting from a distance as he fought against the alpha from the north. The man fought like a beast, moved like a predator stalking its prey. He took Rio by surprise, faster than his size. “I never liked you, Lucien. I told your sister that you are nothing to me and she tried to make your existence somewhat meaningful,” He spoke with pride in his voice as he applied more force on the boot that was against my throat. “Y…you are going to die for that,” I wheezed. The air in my lungs slowly went out but I knew I had to keep fighting, I had to keep Brielle safe, I had to keep my brother safe. It was my responsibility. “I would love to s__” That was the point of his sentence that I heard. My eyes became instantly filled with a buzzing sound that disoriented my entire system. My hands shivered tremendo

  • The Contract Luna's Salvation    Chapter Fifty Eight

Brielle's POV“Where are they?” I asked her. She stood still and slowly, the darkness around began to clear up. It was sucked into a vortex above. That was when I realized that I was in a room with chains and weapons around. “Brielle,* Zane called out behind me. I ran into his arms as he stood by the edge of the room with the Priestess. “How did you get in here?” The priestess asked. “She heard the voices,” Suzie responded as she gently changed into a new pair of shoes. “She could hear the voices of the damned. Maybe because she is part of the damned,” “What is she talking about?” I was curious to know. The look on the priestess face made it scarier to want to know. “Only few people are allowed to hear the other side, listen to what they say, the story they have to say. We call them Whisperers,” The priestess explained as she took a seat next to the fireplace. Her old raggy clothes couldn't hide the fear she felt. “Do you want to tell her?” Suzie referred to the Priestess. “D

Lucien's POV.“I need them here as soon as possible,” I said to the squad leader on the phone. “And General, stay safe,” “Brielle! Damn it!” Rio's voice caught my attention. It was coming from.the dining chambers. I hurried in to meet his hand on her, she was looking almost lifeless. “Rio!” I growled and pulled him away from her. “What the fuck did you do to her?” I held her hand and it was cold as ice. She was mumbling words that I couldn't understand, saying them on repeat as she was glued to the spot she stood. I couldn't move her, it was like moving an unmovable pillar. “She's sucked into wherever they are,” Rio replied as he examined her beside me. “I saw her got called by it. She was drawn to it, they wanted her in there,” “Who is they? You keep saying they, I didn't even know who THEY are,” I retorted. I was falling deeper into the confusion with each glance. I had no idea what to do because both my brother and the priestess that could help were both trapped in wherever
