(Present)
Hades glanced up at the clock just on top of the cashier and it was well past ten now. He was clearly late for work since he had to stop by at a café just to buy a few things.... Ahem... For Lilith.
"Here you go, freshly baked donuts, with chocolate filling, am I right?" The woman behind the counter asked as Hades nodded and fished out his wallet. She turned back to the hot drink he ordered and placed it beside the bag. "And a hot chocolate, sweetened plus heavy milk and a cookie." She finished and he simply nodded again as he handed out the money, getting her to frown since he literally did not answer any of her questions, even her good morning.
He quickly grabbed his bag and cup after he paid her and walked out of the café, half running and walking towards his car.
He glanced at the watch again and hissed under his breath once more before cruising into the road, nearly hitting into a car that honked at him loudly and aggressively.
With a simple roll of his eyes, he ignored the man and drove off as quickly as he could, wanting to make the ten minute drive to his work a five minute drive instead.
Once he reached the company gates, he quickly fished out his ID and flashed it to the guard who clearly didn't even take a look at it, knowing he was the secretary.
He opened the gates and Hades rushed in, quickly finding his reserved spot still unoccupied as usual. He turned the ignition off and grabbed the drink and brown bag before stepping out and frantically rushing into the building.
The phone in his jacket buzzed countlessly and he knew that was his uncle calling, making it hard for him to pick it up with the things in his hands.
He stepped into the elevator and clicked onto Lilith's floor number and sighed out as he waited. A workmate, a female, who was already in the elevator before him, glanced at him with raised brows.
"Are you late?" She deliberately asked as she stared at him wide eyed. She was a year older than he was and the first person to give him a tour of the building, though she clearly didn't have to.
She simply insisted.
"No." He hissed out and watched as the numbers took forever to reach the thirteenth floor.
"You went to a cafe, hm?" She smiled out deviously. "You know, you're making it so obvious to everyone that you're hitting on Lilith." She chuckled as he rolled his eyes in boredom.
"I wasn't trying to hide it." He said as he pressed his lips together and glanced up to the numbers just as the elevator hit the seventh floor.
"Well you should." She crossed her arms on her chest as she glanced up at the numbers as well. "Because it's just very uncomfortable for the rest of us when you're clearly being rejected."
"It's none of your business." Hades clenched onto the cup tightly, only to stop when he noticed he would deform its fragile body.
"You're a stubborn one, huh?" She chuckled as the elevator doors opened on the tenth floor. "Well, this is my stop, good luck Romeo." She laughed out as she waved her hand whilst walking away.
He shut his eyes the moment the elevator closed, knowing she was right, it was a bit embarrassing she wasn't acting, in the slightest, nice to him.
The doors finally slid back on the right floor and he sighed out shakily as he stepped out, immediately grabbing a lot of attention.
Strange... He thought as he walked towards her office. Not many would really look at him that much when he got there.
Of course others would simply shake their heads at him for openly trying too hard but this time they all seemed cautious and somewhat suspicious.
Was something wrong?
He noticed her door was open as he simply ignored the eyes of the coworkers and stepped into her office, not bothering to knock since it was already open.
"Lilith-" he was caught off guard as a figure suddenly appeared in front of him, forcing the cup to lose its lid as it got squashed against the two, spilling the contents mostly on Hades' white T-shirt as the other person moved almost instantly.
Pressing his lips together, he tried hard to keep from crying from the pain of the burning hot chocolate soaking his shirt.
"Oh sh*t... I'm really sorry." A man's voice filled his ears, almost making him flash his shut eyes open in complete shock.
He didn't work here.
The man in front of him looked completely unfamiliar, yet he felt he kind of knew him. He had short blond hair and some really bright pale blue eyes. The man dropped his eyes to Hades' T-shirt that was now stained brown.
"You don't work here." Hades pointed out as he straightened his back and stared into the man's eyes.
"Oh no I don't." He smiled slightly as he noticed who the coffee supposedly was for. "Ethan, by the way."
"Mhm." Hades furrowed his brows in boredom. "You need something here?"
"Oh no, I was just visiting Lilith." Ethan nodded and Hades glanced over his shoulder to Lilith who wasn't looking at the two but at her monitor, peacefully sipping on some hot coffee that Ethan had clearly brought her. "Was that for her?" Ethan asked as he pointed at the stain on Hades' shirt. "Sorry, I already brought her some."
The grin on Ethan's face clearly told Hades that he was onto him. He was clearly trying to show competition.
"Good for you." Hades smiled and patted his shoulder, getting Ethan to frown a bit as he was expecting something else from what Lilith had said about Hades. "Throw this on your way out." Hades said as he shoved the cup with the remaining contents into Ethan's hand and pushed him out the door. "I'm the secretary here and we don't accept prolonged visits, you can leave if you have nothing else."
"I was on my way out actually." Ethan chuckled out before walking away and towards the elevator.
Hades frowned as he watched Ethan walk away before turning to Lilith who hardly paid him any attention.
"He seems nice." Hades said as he walked towards her desk. She simply nodded and continued to type. "I bought you some chocolate donuts..." He said as he placed the bag on her desk, staring at her while she kept her eyes glued to the monitor.
"Ethan brought me some cookies, so I'm fine." Lilith pointed out, getting Hades to clench his jaw tightly.
"I've never seen him before." He pointed out, staring straight at her. "Is he a new friend?"
"No." Lilith furrowed her brows as she finally glanced up at him. "I've known him for some time."
"How long?" Hades asked a little more like demanding, getting her to frown at him.
"If you don't mind, Hades, I'd like to go back to work." Lilith said and did not wait for him to respond as she turned back to her monitor.
He clenched his fists and turned, walking towards the door.
"Take your donuts too." She said as she held up the bag. He turned back and took out a sharp breath before grabbing the bag and walking out in pure irritation.
The moment Hades walked out looking like a whizzing teapot, everyone knew that he was furious and it didn't go well for him. Much worse than usual. He stepped into the elevator and tapped onto his floor and it only took a few minutes until the doors opened. He stepped out and headed to his Uncle's office, knowing he was about to receive some scolding. He knocked against the door and opened it a few seconds later, peeping into the room where he could see his uncle staring at a graph on the wall."I'm late." Was the first thing Hades said as he stepped into the room and closed the door. "I'm sorry.""You're a secretary, Hades. If you continue this I might have no other choice but to-" his uncle paused as he noticed the stain on his shirt and sighed out with a small nod. "I see. You can have a ten minute break to get your shirt cleaned at the dry cleaners. Come when you're ready." He sighed out and Hades nodded."Want some donuts?" He asked, holding up the bag as he walked to the desk an
Hades couldn't help but rub his eyes every now and then as they began to burn in the air from the lack of sleep. He glanced his desk to the watch just sitting at the corner of the room and it was just around noon, hardly close to their closing hours. He wasn't given that much work, but he couldn't sleep on the job. Not after he turned up late. Otherwise his uncle would degrade him, and he wouldn't want that. It was just embarrassing. He rose the coffee mug to his lips and took a small sip, sighing out as the strong taste of black coffee rolled on his tongue and down into his throat.Lilith would probably love a coffee...He thought to himself as he took another sip and glanced towards the door. She's probably tired too.He nodded to his own thoughts and got up from his seat, placing his mug down and walking towards the door as he made his way to the elevator. Once in, he quickly tapped the floor leading to the in-door café, a café just for the employees in case they skipped breakfast
"Okay." His uncle sighed out as he smacked his hands against the table, getting Hades to glance up at him in confusion. "At least tell me she's just playing hard to get.""It took you the entire day to figure that out?" Hades sighed as he folded his arms to his chest while sitting across from him, sitting on the waiting couches since he had finished his work a while back and decided to watch his uncle work.As though that sounded normal in the least."It didn't take me that long." He shrugged his shoulders and flashed Hades a grin to which he eventually rolled his eyes to."It's freaking, 8:45pm, Gary." He sighed out as he run his hand through his hair."Aren't you going to escort her home?" Gary asked as he raised his greying brows at him, watching his nephew frown slightly before meeting his eyes."She probably left a while back." He shrugs his shoulders and leans back into the couch. "I'll just find my jacket hanging by the door or on the floor when I go pick it up after.""That m
"So, what's the task about?" Lilith sighed as she closed the menu once they were done ordering their food. "Is it about the new recruits?""Um..." Hades cleared his throat as he leaned back to his seat and glanced around himself, watching a few couples here and there and some business meetings here and there. It wasn't too fancy but enough to keep away from noisy children and loud music since Lilith assumed it was for business.Little did she know."Well... Yes." Hades nods just so Lilith wouldn't get up the moment he says his Uncle lied. "It's about them. He was asking if you could pick ten from them, who would they be and the reasons why." Hades cleverly said as he nodded to his own words.Lilith pouts her lips for a moment, stuck in thought as she glances up at the ceiling, thinking carefully who it could be."There are in fact a few I know are the best. There's Jane Millet, Frank Woods, Christen Parker, Gwen Holland, Vincent Jacobs, Lorain Lamber, Troy Williams, Dexter Harbor and
Lilith watched as Hades left the place before reaching for her phone and dialing Ethan's number as she got up from her seat and grabbed her bag. "Where are you?" She asked once he picked up as she began to walk towards the door. "I went back to the studio. You can meet me there." Ethan said on the other end, getting her to sigh out as she pushed open the glass doors and stepped out. "Okay, I'll be there in a minute." She said before ending the call, hardly giving him some time to reply. She walked past Hades' car just as he got in. She glanced down at her phone once more, checking her emails, only to find it flooding with warnings from her director. She had missed a lot of lessons because of work. She tried to explain it to him, but he didn't want to listen and blamed her for slacking off. This time she was an hour late but can still make it. Or else she would get fired. She stopped at a stop sign and began to wave at the taxis speeding by, rushing with their last clients home
The moment Hades made it back into his house, he walked straight into the kitchen, heading for the cupboard just above the sink with all the alcohol his friend had collected since the past weeks. He grabbed a bottle and instantly pulled the cork right off before chugging it down, only to choke when it burned his throat, causing him to stop instantly. A deep sigh escaped his lips as he walked towards his couch, dragging his feet along with him.He threw himself back onto the couch and leaned into it, feeling himself sink right in. His lazy gaze trailed around the room and towards the photos of his roommate and his girlfriend on their countless vacations around the world. The largest photo of them both sat just above the small empty fireplace, staring mockingly at him. It was a photo of Morris and Nora deep diving with a dolphin right beside them, both grinning at the camera as they hugged the dolphin.Hades could only hear it from them since he never tagged along despite having Morris
Struggling to peel his eyes open, Hades could only feel the sharp sting of his head throbbing inside of him from all the alcohol he drunk the other night. He leaned from the couch he had slept on all night and glanced around himself, only to spot Morris sitting cross legged on the floor in front of him, staring intensively as he crushed the many crisps in his mouth."What time is it?" Hades asked as he reached his hand up to his head, stroking his temple."Eleven." Morris replied as a grin spread across his face, noticing Hades' horrified gaze."Why didn't you wake me up!?" He hissed as he stood up, only to flinch and fall back."You seemed tired." Morris shrugged his shoulders as he crumpled the bag of chips into a ball after finishing it. "Plus your hungover doesn't seem to be leaving anytime soon.""I have work you bastard." Hades rolled his eyes and sighed out as he leaned back into the seat. "My uncle will murder me if he finds out I'm skipping work because of a hungover.""Call
Hades sighed out in boredom as he walked towards the door, feeling the starvation roam his stomach. He reached the door and reached out for the handle, opening it fully with an irritated expression when he stepped back in shock as his eyes landed on Lilith's brown gaze.He sent Lilith? Hades thought with wide eyes as Lilith stared back with raised brows. She didn't seem to be coming from work, she was dress in a white dress printed with sunflowers here and there."Oh... Hi.." He trailed off when she furrowed her brows at him and glanced around, seeming confused. "Did my uncle send you?""Yes, otherwise I wouldn't be here." She said as she glanced back at him, getting him to frown a little. "So, are you going to let me in?""Oh." He stepped aside and smiled slightly, knowing she somewhat still wants to be around. Knowing the usual Lilith, she would have most definitely just given him whatever his uncle sent her to give. "Sure come in."She nodded and walked past him, entering the large
