Leena's POV

The subsequent days were a peculiar haze of recovery and discomfort.

Eric allowed me more space than I anticipated.

He didn’t push for conversations, didn’t intrude on my quietness.

He just existed close by, a calm, consistent presence that never demanded more than I was prepared to offer.

I appreciated that.

I roamed his penthouse, getting to know its vast spaces and glass walls that offered a stunning vista of the city skyline.

It seemed almost excessively lavish, too pristine, as if entering a realm where the disorder of my history could not touch me.

Yet beneath the surface, I understood more.

My history had not finished with me yet.

Every night, as I nestled under the fresh sheets, I anticipated the nightmares to arrive, and they did.

Zack's laughter lingered in my dreams, his voice curving into the shadowy areas of my mind, reminding me that liberty was delicate.

That tranquility was a misconception.

On the third night, I awakened with a scream.

The covers twisted ar

LILY'S POVOthers frequently confused my quietness for gentleness. Courtesy. Tenderness. However, I had discovered long ago that silence could serve as protection. Quiet might signify conflict. I remained by the hospital room window, observing the clouds move across the city skyline. Inside, the atmosphere seemed overly thick. Leena lay sleeping, her breaths shallow yet steady, enveloped in sterile sheets that had endured too much suffering. Devices hummed gently around her like a soothing song for the shattered. I was no longer just present as her friend. I was present because I had made a choice. And that side was not Zack. I had cared for him once. Not as Leena did, not as Kara asserted to. But sufficient to recognize the person he once was. And who was the man he had become? Toxin. Power-thirsty, merciless, fixated on domination. Something within him had warped long before the relationship with Kara, prior to the harshness toward Leena beginning. He was descending into chaos.

CHARLES POVThe gentle tinkle of glass meeting marble resonated as I served myself a drink in the study of the Grayson estate. Whiskey straight, intense, searing like the truths I hid far below this refined facade. The world thought Ethan Grayson represented the empire, yet they overlooked that I was the tempest hidden below the tranquility. And at this moment, the elements were shifting once more. I gazed at the amber fluid, listening to her voice echo in my mind. Leena. Zack was an idiot. I observed from the periphery, muted by obligation, bound by allegiance. However, when I witnessed her fall at that hotel and noticed the emptiness in her gaze, I understood something. My quietude was no longer admirable. It was a lack of courage. A rap on the door jolted me from my reflections. Karina's voice drifted in. “Charles, you’ve stayed in there the entire night.” "I’m contemplating." “You consistently are.” She entered with her arms crossed over her chest, sporting that familiar e

CHARLES POVPower is not found in might. It exists in stillness, in the intervals between actions when one person takes a step and all others come to understand they were never part of the game. That's the way I have navigated my existence. That’s my plan for getting through this turmoil. The news struck me like a knife concealed in a handshake...Leena wedded Zack Grayson. I observed from the outskirts, as I always do, unseen yet aware. I had remained faithful to her father long enough to realize that silence was essential for survival. However, this? This was a treachery I had not anticipated. Not due to Leena, no, she was merely another piece. However, because Zack had consistently posed a greater threat than anyone was willing to acknowledge. Hubris cloaked in elegance and haze. I observed the wedding from the shaded windows of my vehicle, stationed on the opposite side of the road. I witnessed the flashes, the reporters, the cheers that echoed like gunfire in my ears. What nobo

NIINI'S POVI sensed that something was wrong as soon as I entered the Grayson estate. The atmosphere was overly charged, burdened with undisclosed truths. The chandeliers glimmered like a taunt to tranquility, and the grins of the wealthy ricocheted from reflection to reflection, delicate as tissue and doubly insincere. I never appreciated this world being overly polished, overly rehearsed. However, Cleff had insisted that I attend. He mentioned that I should witness it myself. I didn’t inform him that I had already done so. From the corridor, I observed Leena sitting rigidly on the edge of a velvet couch. She appeared like porcelain, too perfect, too delicate. Her hands were grasped tightly in her lap, and her eyes were filled with distress. Facing her was Zack, radiating the arrogance of a man who believed he possessed the room, the house, and likely the woman as well. I despised men like him. Those who grinned like wolves and referred to it as allure. I remained hidden and ave

CLEFF'S POVI'm not supposed to be here. As soon as I entered the hospital's entrance, I realized I had crossed a boundary. Yet the manner in which Niini had held my hand earlier at the office, her eyes was filled with anxiety and worry, made it unavoidable for me to overlook. "Leena isn't alright," she had murmured. And I realized at that moment this wasn't merely another socialite controversy, not simply a romantic dispute. It was more profound, gloomier. I had never encountered Leena face-to-face. I've heard of her, definitely. The notorious daughter of Nicholas Davis. The girl who grabbed tabloid attention by marrying Zack Grayson unexpectedly, the very guy who once dominated our prep school corridors like a pampered prince. We weren't intimate, but Niini was. And that sufficed for me. We arrived at the corridor leading to her private room. Niini paused, her grip on my hand growing firmer. "They're bickering once more," she whispered. "I’m not ready to go in just yet." "I doubt

NIINI'S POVThe walls of the Grayson estate were excessively immaculate, excessively silent. Each noise I produced reverberated towards me, reminding me that I wasn’t meant to be here. I shouldn’t have gone, but when Cleff messaged that Leena was in the hospital, I abandoned everything. Even if no one had requested my presence. I halted before her door. She wasdozing when I initially entered. Curled up like a child beneath the fluffy white sheets, her lashes were dark against her fair skin, her breathing gentle and rhythmic. You might assume she was merely relaxing after a tiring day, not mending from heartbreak, treachery, and everything Zack had inflicted on her. I perched in the chair next to her bed, my fingers fidgeting. My eyes stung with unspilled tears, yet I fought to hold them back. This had nothing to do with me. This concerned her. For years, Leena and I had been together. Sisters in all aspects except lineage. However, everything changed the instant I expressed someth
