Katie's POV

As the days turned into weeks, Sophia's condition slowly began to improve. She was still in a coma, but her vital signs were stable, and the doctors were starting to talk about the possibility of waking her up soon.

One day, as I was leaving the hospital after a visit, I received a text message from Sophia's phone. It read: "Katie, can we talk?"

I hesitated for a moment before responding. Despite everything that had happened between us, I couldn't help but feel a sense of curiosity and hopefulness.

"Sure," I replied. "What's on your mind?"

A few minutes later, Sophia called me. Her voice was weak and raspy, but I could hear the determination in it.

"Katie, I want to apologize," she said. "For everything. I know that I messed up, and I don't expect you to forgive me, but I want you to know that I'm sorry."

I could feel tears welling up in my eyes as I listened to her words. "Sophia," I said, my voice trembling. "I don't know what to say."
