-Mina-

I don’t remember much of my dream, but I do remember Luca was there. It still feels weird calling him Luca, not Luciano. When I woke up, it was almost 9 in the morning. I had forgotten that we were still naked, when I looked at him and saw his bare chest, the memories of last night flooded in. I stood up, being met with pain in my stomach and back. I walked over to the closet and grabbed something to throw on, and headed to the kitchen after stealing one last glance at Luca.

I didn’t want to wake him, I haven’t seen him sleep since the shooting. He needed rest, so while he slept, I made myself some coffee, and noticed what day it was. Today is your day dad, I miss you. I turned on the oven, grabbed a pan and a bowl, setting them on the counter. I turned to the fridge and pulled out eggs, bacon, sausage milk and butter. I placed the things on the counter beside the bowl and began cracking eggs, pulling flour from the jar that sat on the counter-top, and mixing it together. I w

  • The Cost of Saving Him   Like a Sister

-Corey- Tonight was no different than any other night, the same people coming in, ordering drinks, talking, the usual. I got a call-in order for to-go, thinking nothing of it besides this is a lot for one man. Thankfully it was all burgers. I took the order to the kitchen and let them know it was to go and not to fuck it up. “Mina trusts us to make her bar run smoothy guys and she is like a sister to us, if we did it for Larry we need to keep the same shit going.” Rocky, the guy I had picked to replace me, also my boyfriend, threw a towel at me, “dude, stop riding my ass, just because you got that promo doesn’t mean you can’t help.” We started laughing, “you know as soon as she is here I will come help you, stop tightening your bra too tight.”Throwing the towel back at Rocky, “I wouldn’t pick a better team man. You’re next if you keep it up, I know she will agree.” He shrugged his shoulders, I walked back up front thinking about that. Rocky didn’t think Mina would give it to him wh

  • The Cost of Saving Him   Making Bones

-Mina- Tony and Luciano had left, leaving Vinny and Marko behind with me. “How are you feeling Mina? I wanted to ask but the boss had us keep an eye on the bar while you were in the hospital. I haven't had a chance to see you and ya know.” I laughed, Marko was awkward for sure, but sweet. “I’m fine Marko, please don’t get too serious about his ‘instructions’ . I can handle a lot of things, probably not lifting anything.” They nodded and sat on the couch, I grabbed some beers out the fridge, “how long have y’all worked for Luciano?” They exchanged glances, and I realized, they didn’t know that Luca had told me the truth. “I know about the families, the situation, and his position. I know y’all are looking to, what is it called? Make your skin or something like that?” Vinny laughed as I handed them the beers. “Wow, too much mobster T.V and not enough real world, it is making your bones Mina, and not long. About a year.” I looked at him, not long? A year is kinda long in my opinion. “

  • The Cost of Saving Him   Breaking Oaths

-Mina- His voice was deeper, more possessive, like the first two days of knowing him, “fine.” He said one kiss then we were waiting, “you’re still hurt.” I told him I didn’t care, “I want you now.” I knew he would probably object, but to my surprise, he didn’t. Instead, he pressed his head against mine, “then I’ll take what I can, but once we start. There is no going back.” I smiled, knowing that the cravings, the thoughts, the dreams, were all about to come to life. He looked at me, as if he was waiting for permission, once I nodded I could see something change in him. “You have to tell me the moment it starts to hurt Mina.” The look in his eyes didn’t match the tone in his voice, “I will Luca.” He moved, leaning me back onto the bed, his hands holding me underneath him as he hovered above me, “are you sure?” I reached up, holding his face in my hands, rubbing my thumbs along his jaw-line, “if I wasn’t sure, we wouldn’t be here.” His smile flashed and his eyes locked on mine, he

  • The Cost of Saving Him   The Weight of His World

-Mina’s POV- The first day home was not bad, I wasn’t hurting as much since the surgery was successful and I was healing remarkably, according to the doctor. Tony and Luciano were treating me like an injured bird, which was nice but something I haven’t had before. The intimate moments shared with a man I hardly knew, but somehow fell for. There is no way in hell this is happening to me. He is everything I fear, don’t want, but yet I crave him. I couldn’t stop thinking about that, every time I looked at him. When he kissed me laying me down, it was something that felt forbidden, yet something that was supposed to be. The way he didn’t want to touch me wrong, was scared to hurt me, refused to do anything that night was something I could tell was new to him. He seemed like a tough person, letting on like he runs everything and is above emotions in a way, he now showed a softer side that made me feel more than I should for him, wanting him more. I tried to get some sleep but it didn’t

  • The Cost of Saving Him   Ghosts We Carry

-Luciano- I couldn’t stop thinking about how this woman has somehow gotten under my skin, in a good way. Still tracing the bandages that Mina wore, I broke from my thoughts of guilt behind her injury. I covered her up with the blanket, kissed her head and drifted off to sleep. The dreams came quick, Mina was dressing my wound, then I was in her flat caring for hers. Marco found her place, and before he could finish the job I woke up. Spot was on the floor beside me, watching me the way Max does. I rolled over to find that Mina was gone. I got up, put on my clothes, almost forgetting what we did last night. Still thinking about the way she felt wrapped around me, the way she moaned my name. I was almost done getting dressed when I heard laughter, hers, coming from the kitchen then Tony’s voice, “I didn’t know you studied art and interior design, would you help me with my house, my wife is getting on me about ‘change’, she said it would be nice.” I walked around the corner just as he
