"Another aura?" Rayden asked, frowning. His intuition told him that this anomaly was the key to everything, but he restrained himself from pressing further. He let the old man tell the story at his own pace. "Who was it?"

The Elder shook his head, a faint look of annoyance crossing his face as he recalled the chaos of that night. "We don't know," he answered. "At that time, in the midst of the panic, we ignored the report. We assumed it was a spiritual sensor malfunction or perhaps just a high-level beast disturbed by the commotion. Our focus was entirely on the two of you, two small embers that had the potential to burn down our entire plan."

He continued his narrative, his calm voice now tinged with a faint frustration. "The team assigned to pursue your sister reported steady progress. She was exhausted and terrified. Capturing her was only a matter of time. But you…"

The Elder looked at Rayden. "You were a ghost. The reports from our best tracking team were filled with disbelief."

"A major problem?" Rayden repeated, his worst fears gripping his heart. His entire body tensed. "What happened to Raelyn? What did Lucien do to her?"The Grand Elder of the Altair clan looked at Rayden, and for a moment, the steel mask on his old face cracked. In the depths of his cloudy eyes, there was a flicker of sincere sympathy, a flash of resonant pain. However, the words that came from his mouth remained cold and factual, as if he were merely reading back a report from that cursed night—a defense mechanism he had honed for ten years."Not that," the Elder answered softly. "The problem he meant was not your sister. According to Lucien's brief report, Raelyn had been 'handled'. He provided no details. His report only stated that the second target was no longer a threat to our plans."The words handled and no longer a threat were crueler to Rayden's ears than any description of torture. He understood immediately what they meant. It was the cold explanation behind his sister's whee

A thin, bitter smile touched Rayden's lips as he heard the end of his pursuit's story. It wasn't a smile of victory, but the smile of a man recalling a strange twist of fate. He remembered Master Sena's weathered hand pulling him from the brink of death, his confusion upon waking in a village hidden from the world."Their report wasn't entirely wrong," he said, his voice calm. The Grand Elder of the Altair clan nodded, as if he had expected that answer. "At that time, we didn't know a miracle was waiting for you at the bottom of the ravine. To us in the command room, that report was a bright spot in a chaotic night. We considered you dead."He leaned back, a sigh of relief held for ten years finally escaping his lips. "One problem solved. It was a horrific relief for us. With you dealt with, all remaining resources, all the elite trackers and assassins, could now be focused on a single, final target: your twin sister."The tone of the story shifted. The hunt, which had been divided an

Rayden said nothing in response to the Elder's story. He only murmured softly, more to himself, as if reliving the bitter moment he pushed his sister away and chose a different path."I told her to run."The Elder nodded, his expression grim. "And that action of yours," he admitted, "Created the greatest panic for us in the command room."He painted a picture of the scene behind the curtain that night. It wasn't a picture of cold-blooded killers in control, but of panicked planners whose perfect operation was suddenly falling apart."Lord Dragon's command was absolute—there were to be no living witnesses," the Elder continued, his voice filled with an old fear. "Two children slipping from our grasp wasn't just a problem. It was a catastrophic failure that could have resulted in the annihilation of all of us at Brahma's hand."In the midst of that panic, the Elder admitted, Lucien Dorne showed why he had been chosen to lead. While the others screamed and blamed each other, Lucien remai

Rayden's brow furrowed, confusion and disbelief warring within him. He stared at the Altair Elder, trying to find a lie in the old man's eyes."My father?" he asked, his voice hoarse. "He was just an ordinary businessman, with no cultivation."The Elder nodded slowly, his expression grim. "Correct," he replied. "And that was our most fatal miscalculation. In our world, an ordinary man without cultivation is considered no more than an ant. We assumed he would be helpless."He continued his narrative, his calm voice pulling Rayden back into the horror of that night. "The joint Shadow Team, led by Lucien Dorne, moved like ghosts. They disabled the electronic security system at your residence without a trace. They picked the lock on your main door without a sound. Everything was proceeding according to the perfect plan."He paused, his eyes distant. "However, when the first team member pushed that door open, they were not greeted by a dark and silent foyer.""They were greeted by your fat

"A choice to live with the blood of others on your hands," Rayden hissed, his voice low and vibrating with a burning hatred. The vibration was palpable in the air, thick enough to be felt on the skin. "That is not a choice. That is depravity."The Elder accepted the judgment without protest, as if the words were a lashing he rightfully deserved. He let out a long sigh, a sound laden with a decade of weariness. "Call it what you will, young man. But your judgment will not change what happened."He straightened his posture slightly, his old eyes becoming distant, returning to that dark night ten years ago. "That night, we in the planning council called it—Operation Golden Canary. A poetic name for a filthy task. The plan, on paper, was exceedingly simple."He began to recount the story with the tone of a general recalling a lost battle, full of technical details yet colored by a faint, lingering regret. "We assembled a joint elite team. Thirty of the best men from the shadow units of th
