âI will goad him into a fight and leave this marriage based on domestic violence. I don't understand why he will not accept my proposal to end the marriage,â the twenty-one-year-old Laura resolved.
She woke up and sadly remembered that she had scores to settle with her poor, twenty-five-year-old husband, Tim Williams.
âWe are no more in the same league. I want to marry a real man and not a penniless and classless man,â she said to herself and angrily got up from her bed. âHow can I meet a real man if I continue to be the wife of a scumbag?â she cursed. Likewise, she threw her duvet off her and tried to get out of bed but halted when the door opened. She glared at Tim who walked in to check on her. âIt's time for work, Laura,â he informed her. âSo, you know work but you can't get one for yourself? You wretched pauper," she glared at him and yelled. Tim smiled softly and gave his regular response, âI will work when the time comes.â His laissez-faire approach to her chastisements often angered her and she made it clear to him, âHere you go again. Good for nothing fellow. We have been together for three years and you have nothing to show for it.â Tim swallowed hard and smiled as though he did not hear her. He had heard that severally since she got her job. He sat beside her and to his surprise, she slapped him so hard and roared, âGet out of my room.â He smiled dryly and asked her, âDid you hit me, Laura?â She ignored his question and got out of the bed. He stood up too and she charged violently at him. Notwithstanding, he held her hands tightly and restrained her from hitting him again. Now, she was raging with anger and to avoid hitting her, he walked out of her room. âIdiot. Wretched bastard. All you could do is to get me pregnant,â she cursed and watched him leave. âI will abort the pregnancy and quit,â she grumbled and walked into the bathroom. In The Parlor Tim took a deep breath before he sat down on the dining chair. Without delay, he looked at his cross-body bag which contained his heirloom. âI was patient with her when she could not get a job or conceive because of the complications she had after she was raped by some soldiers. Why can't she be patient with me?â He murmured. Soon, she walked to the parlor and was dressed in corporate wear which gave her the aura of a successful career woman. She worked as a secretary to the Chairman of the Auxiliary Armory PLC, a government-owned military equipment company. She enjoyed so much entitlement and was highly respected in the country. Without opening the dishes, she flared up, hit him in the eye, and warned him, âGet a job for yourself and stop eating my food for nothing.â âStop,â he commanded and held her hands tightly. To his astonishment, she began crying at the top of her lungs, âHelp. He wished to kill me. Somebody help me.â At that point, her team of security who were waiting for her in the courtyard were alerted and the Head of Security rushed into the house. âWhat happened, Mrs. Dickson-Williams?â He asked and looked around for any clue. She held her stomach and requested, âUgh! I am dying. He hit me and kicked my tummy. Take me to the doctor quickly.â âOh, my God!" The dutiful Head of security exclaimed and glared at Tim before he periled his life and attacked him.âHow dare you hit my boss?â
To his astonishment, Tim twisted his hand and he staggered backward. To avoid showing weakness before his boss, he steadied himself, smiled.âOkay, Boss,â he said and tried to help her.
âWhat is the matter with you, Laura?" The startled Tim asked but she cried the more.Nevertheless, she instructed the officer, âTake me out of here or he will kill me.â
âIt is all right, Mrs. Dickson-Williams,â he accepted. The confused Tim tried to lend a hand but she rebuffed the gesture, âDon't touch me. You murderer.â âYou heard her. Don't touch her,â the officer shouted and led her to the car.Instantly, the team moved with the car siren. The sound attracted her parents who lived in the luxury boys' quarters and they were curious.
âWhat happened?â Her forty-six-year-old mother, Mrs. Madeline Dickson, inquired. âThe Boss is critically ill,â one of the guards informed her. âOh, my goodness! What is happening to my daughter?â She screamed and ran into her room to get ready for the hospital. At The Hospital Before she got to the company's clinic, a team of three doctors was waiting for her. Meanwhile, the moment her convoy left her house with the siren, the pressmen were attracted. They rushed after her convoy and caused gridlock on the way which delayed her parents' movement. âTalk to us, Mrs. Williams. What is troubling you?â The Medical Director, Dr. Jolly Robinson, requested. âTerminate the pregnancy and save me, please. My life is in danger,â she begged with fake agony. âWhat!â âWhy terminate the pregnancy?â The two doctors asked. âThis is supposed to be a precious baby, Mrs. Williams,â the Medical Director who was aware of her medical history and how they prayed for the pregnancy, pointed out. As if she was losing her breath, she pleaded, âAbort it on health concerns. I'm dying.â The confused Medical Director shook his head dejectedly, gave his colleagues his consent and they went into action. After a while, they were through with the surgical abortion of the twenty-week-old pregnancy and moved her to the ward to rest. âI had a miscarriage, Mom and Dad,â she informed her parents who were already in her ward. âMy grandchild! This is unbelievable,â her mother screamed and her fifty-year-old father, Finley Dickson, asked, âWhat a tragedy! What happened?â âTim kicked my stomach this morning,â she sobbed. âWhat! That gold digger dared to lay hands on you?â Her father asked her angrily. âI know that he is good for nothing. He wished to kill you and inherit everything,â her mother declared. Shortly, her assistant walked in and greeted her, âGood morning, Mrs. Williams. I got the news that you are unwell and decided to check on you.â âThat is kind of you, Alice.â âHow do you feel now?â âI feel better. Thank you for your concern.â âThat is good to hear. The press would like to know what to report. What do I tell them?â âOh! Just tell them the truth. My lazy husband kicked my stomach because I got a job for him and he rejected it.â She paused and waited for her to write her note. Afterward, she asked, âIs that all, Mrs. Williams?â âNo. Inform them that I suffered a miscarriage and that I am recuperating.â âOuch!â She showed worries. âI got it, Boss," she said and left at once.âOh! You are an honest girl, my daughter. You didn't withhold the truth from the public,â her mother praised her. âYes. Have you forgotten that we gave her and her siblings good home training?â Her father added. âYou are correct,â she admitted and gave her daughter an encouraging smile. "Oh, my stomach!" She screamed aloud and held her stomach. "What?" Her bewildered parents asked in unison. "The abortion pain is much." "Abortion or Miscarriage?" The astounded parents asked.
At The Dining Table George had been cold since he learned that Tim would be out of town the next day but he was unaware of him. They were eating silently until George broached the topic."What kind of case are you going to investigate in Westminster?""A case of possible child switching. I want to know whether it was deliberate or an error."Despite the importance of the investigation, George must be selfish."Richard can handle it. He can go with some of my team members," he proposed.Tim was a gifted leader and father. He would not hurt the people he loved but must be firm in discharging his duty."Kay sent me and it would be rude to delegate the task," he explained.George was weakened and he gave up. He continued to eat his food in silence. Tim was eating as well but leering at him. To mollify him, he assured him, "I won't be away for too long."He misunderstood it to mean that he would be away for a few days and asked him anxiously, "Hey! Won't you be back before lunch?""Bef
"You have a good point. I will speak with Kay and see if he can be swapped with the manager of the dome."George hesitated before he spoke, "Since Ella is the oldest staff member, she can be elevated to the position of supervisor.""Don't think of it. She can't handle it." "Let's give it a try first.""There is no need. She may be pregnant before you know it and she would be off and on. If care is not taken, she would suffer a miscarriage due to stress.""Ha!""You don't want that, I guess.""Never.""I'm happy you got it.""I got it. Let us go by swapping him with the manager of the dome.""That is better.""I have a case to investigate at Westminster tomorrow," he informed him and studied his expressions. At Mount Olive The old man and Francis were at the junction to pick up Ella. She was exhausted when she got into the car and her husband noticed it. He drove off quickly and soon, they were at home. "Welcome back, My queen," he held her closely and said. She looked into his crav
At The General Manager's Office. After the call, she observed that the clerk was looking at her and must have guessed the person at the other end. She was ashamed of herself but wished to have the chance to attack him and clear the air. When she found none, she created it."Why are you not looking at me?" She asked him with trouble written on her face."Ha! Must I look at you?""Do you think I love him?" She asked him with guilt written all over her face. Now, the clerk laughed euphorically but in a low tone. She smiled cynically like a troublesome child and began to wait for lunch. Soon, the GM got out of his office and announced, "I'm off for lunch.""It's okay, Boss," she said.To avoid being alone with her and getting more bashing, the clerk got up and said, "I'm going with him."Before she could answer him, he was out of the office.""Why are you scared?" she mumbled. They got into the elevator and the GM said, "Lest I forgot, inform Miss Patrick that I would like to see her by
Despite his State of mind, he recognized the Corporal's voice."Hold on, Corporal," he said, walked to the door and opened it.Cpl. Barton saluted him at once, "Good morning, Sgt. Courtney. The GM wishes to see you. Permit me to take you along.âThe despondent supervisor let out a bitter smile, returned the salute, and said, "Permission granted." He led him out of the canteen while everyone was watching them. Ella felt bad that he chose to ruin her first day at work. She was aware that she would be invited to the panel as well and braced up. The other staff members looked at her to know whether she was happy to see the supervisor arrested but her expression depicted nothing.Notwithstanding, they went back to work to ensure that the lunch would be ready on time.At The General Manager's Office After the barrister walked in, the GM sent for Stephanie and she arrived immediately."Get ready. We have a meeting.""I got it, Boss," she said and walked back to her office to get her device
"Oh! I propose that you clarify her at once to avoid trust issues.""I will do that now that you have given me the go-ahead.""Please do. I will check on Ella to know how her colleagues welcomed her.""That's good to hear.""Bye for now."Tim connected to his device and scrolled back the footage to 7 AM when she resumed. He was thrilled to see everyone coming to welcome her and admiring her wedding ring. When the supervisor joined them, Tim was focusing on the rejoicing colleagues and did not notice him until Ella greeted him respectfully. He frowned at his hostility and watched on. When he slammed his door against her, he was distraught."What is her offense?" He murmured. When she walked out of the changing room and was stable, he was happy. At that point, he disconnected and got out of the car. Shortly, he was in George's office. Even a blind man will know that he was angry."What happened?" He asked him in astonishment.Without responding, he picked up the remote control and scrol
In The Canteen The supervisor was expectant and had rehearsed his love lines. Ella arrived afterwards and her colleagues were happy to see her. They welcomed her one after the other and she responded with glee.Abigail was so delightful. She saw her arrival as an answered prayer. After welcoming her, she walked straight to the supervisor's office and informed him."At last, Supervisor. She is back.""Who is back?""Miss Patrick. She is back."He was excited with the information and got up from his seat at once. Abigail led the way and he followed her happily. They got to the kitchen and met her talking with her colleagues. The supervisor stood aside and waited to get her attention."Ha? Marriage looks good on you, Ella," one of them complimented her."Thank you for the compliment.""I like your wedding ring," another person said."What about the pictures?""Your husband must be very rich and handsome.""When can we meet him.""Why did you not invite us?"She only smiled at the endles
