Elara’s POV

After my second near death experience, I returned to Moretti Brun with two goals in mind; Figure out what to do with my feelings for Alpha Moretti and get control of my wolf again.

I'm done being weak!

The first was hopeless, but Makayla now responded every time I called out to her. It wasn't the same as before, but maybe it was better.

After taking a final glance at my reflection, I left for the forest.

I had been training alone for weeks, pushing my body and my mind beyond their breaking points.

Cool air filled my lungs, coiling with power I had never experienced before.

It was exhilarating.

“Are you ready for us to shift?" I asked Makayla. "I think we've trained enough.”

She stayed quiet but I could feel her nervousness as though it were my own.

“Hey. I'm sorry, I don't mean to rush you. It's just...I miss it, you know?” I said.

“You never asked me why I left. I hurt you. I know you never stopped wondering. Don't you want to know?” She asked, surprisingly.

Truth was,

The steaming cup she placed in front of me remained untouched. I sat stiffly on the couch, not sure what to say or what to expect. My whole body was thrumming internally from the moment I stepped into the house. There was an energy there that felt odd, odd but familiar. If anyone asked me why I followed a stranger into her home in the forest without my personal guard with me, I wouldn't have been able to answer. Similarly, I couldn't answer the question of how she knew my father's name, which was why I went with her.Mathias Rossi was my father. In years, I hadn't heard someone besides Grannie Alba call his name, not until her.“You look a lot like your father,” she started and I perked up on my seat. “I knew him many years ago. Before he met your mother.”“Mathias wasn't always so secluded. Circumstances made it so, and he had to confine himself to one place. Because of the deaths that surrounded your family, he needed to keep you safe,” she said, taking a sip from her own cup.“Kee

“Giovanni!” I called out, rushing in his direction. He seemed to pause for a moment before he increased his pace so I knew he had heard me. “Stop right there!” I barked and he stopped abruptly while I walked faster to catch up.I was still angry from what Sandro had revealed about him, but more than anger, I felt betrayed. And I hadn't had the chance to speak to him until that moment.“You heard me the first time,” I said, it wasn't a question.“Apologies Luna. I was in a rush to get somewhere and I didn't know you called out to me,” he lied through his teeth.I felt a pang when he regarded me with my title instead of my name. It had taken some convincing to get him to call me Elara but we had lost all familiarity now.“Let's sit,” I gestured to the outdoor benches that were a bit far ahead. He opened his mouth to argue but I cut him off. “I know you're lying. You've done enough hiding, let's just talk,” I said with a sigh. I was tired already and wasn't about to keep doing a front an

I had fled Sandro's office right after his rejection. It burned a lot. The steamy dreams I kept having about him made matters worse but I didn't let the rejection weigh me down for more than a day. If he wanted to be hot one day and cold the next, fine. But I wasn't going to let it stop the great thing I had going for myself. The next day, I joined the soldiers in the training field. The stares and whispers started right as I walked into the field. With my shoulders squared and my head held high, I made a beeline for where Maria stood. She was demonstrating a technique to a group of younger girls, future warriors.“Maybe you could teach me that too,” I said from behind her. They all turned in my direction, shock evident on their faces except Maria who wore a small smile. The girls regained their composure in seconds and bowed their heads.“Hello. Do you mind if I borrow your trainer for a moment?” I said, pulling Maria towards me.She cocked her head when we had moved away from th

“What happened?” I screamed, running towards him, not caring if whoever did that to him was coming up right behind bim. He groaned, putting his hand on his side and straightening. “Most of it is not my blood,” he revealed. “But we have to go, now.”I didn't wait to be told twice. Grabbing my purse on the table, I followed him outside. It was so dark, the area was only illuminated by the light from inside the house. The body of the two men who had ushered us inside the safe house lay in a pool of blood by the entrance. My insides twisted and I held a fist over my mouth to stop myself from screaming. We rushed into the garage and soon, we were back on the road. I stayed quiet for a moment, the whole evening playing out in my head. “Who was responsible for….those men outside?”He glanced briefly at me with his side eye. “There were three of them. Same rival mafia group causing trouble. It seems they followed us here. I saw two dirt bikes parked on the other side of the road.”I took

It was a baseless fight. Many of my men present were wolves. They were faster, sharper, and could heal almost instantly. Of course, we couldn't have humans suspecting that, but there was a stark difference during the fight.Don Carmelo's men were old school. They fought with blades and fists, not guns. I had my men ditch their guns to even out the cards but still. “Carmelo, give up now and nobody else gets hurt,” I yelled from behind the container I ducked into.“And have you take all the glory? Dominate my territory as well?” He asked sarcastically. His voice sounded closer to me and I braced myself. “Never!” He yelled just as he came into view, tackling me to the ground and throwing pathetic blows. “Sandro!” I heard a distressed voice yell and I turned momentarily towards the sound. It was Alessia. A large container had fallen on her lower limbs and she was with a man who was trying to drive a blade into her neck.Clenching my jaw, I pushed Carmelo off me and rushed towards Ales
