Chapter: Chapter 31It was Elara.“What do you think you're doing?” I asked and she jumped, staring at me with wide eyes.“I…n…nothing. I was looking for you,” she stammered, moving away from the table.I closed the door behind me, advancing further into the wide room. With each step I took towards her, she took two back until she hit her back against the wall. She whined like a wounded kitten. Why was she in my office? And what was she looking amongst confidential files? Raka tried to pull me back but I ignored him. I took slow steps towards her shaking frame, like a predator taunting its prey.I stopped in front of her. “What were you doing looking through my files, Elara?” I asked one more time. She swallowed. “The door was opened slightly and I thought I heard someone in here so I came in to check,” she said shakily.I raised a brow in irritation. She was so dumb, it infuriated me.“Hey! Don't call our mate dumb,” Raka said in my head.“If she's not dumb, then she should stop acting like it,” I r

Chapter: Chapter 30The wolf became a blur of black fur and red dot in my eyes. I went momentarily deaf from the loud roar that erupted from the pack wolves. I was frozen in that moment of terror and I could only watch as the wolf closed the distance between us. I could see its massive paws kicking up dirt from the damp earth and the world seemed to slow around me. My eyesight became sharper instantly and I could vividly see every stark detail.A sharp, deafening crack split through the air. The rogue wolf, mid-leap, yelped in a sickening high-pitched whine just as another larger wolf swiped at its neck, sending its black head rolling across the floor. The body writhed for a moment, a pathetic heap of fur, before the movements stopped entirely. My legs, which had been frozen in place, threatened to give out. My heart hammered against my ribs, almost overshadowing the pack's shouts and the furious growl of the Alpha.“Secure the perimeter!" Alpha Moretti roared. "I want eyes on every corner of these

Chapter: Chapter 29“Luna!” Trevor exclaimed. He didn't make a move towards me and that was probably for the best.“Trevor. I don't know what's happening,” I said honestly when I managed to stop screaming, my voice hoarse and raw. My mind was a whirlwind of grief, confusion and rage as I took a look around the room. “Calm down. You need to relax so you can stop it,” he said, holding a hand in front of me, as if shielding himself from something invisible.“I don't know how. I don't know what's going on.”“How about you start with deep breaths. Just take deep breaths and try to relax.”I saw a completely different expression on Trevor's face. He looked genuinely terrified. The realization that I had scared him, a trained warrior, added to my growing panic.I took deep breaths like he said, forcing air into my burning lungs and soon, the disruption subsided. The cracking silence returned and we both stayed quiet for the minutes that followed. Him staring at me like I had just grown a horn and I stared

Chapter: Chapter 28The world splintered before my eyes. I saw everything I had fought for and everything I would fight for, crash right in front of me.I heard Trevor burst into the room but I couldn’t look back. Couldn’t breathe. Couldn’t move."No. No, this can't be happening." My voice came out in a choked whisper. I could barely hear myself over the frantic thrumming in my ears. I pressed my fingers harder against Grannie Alba's neck. No pulse. An icy dread, colder than her skin, seeped deep into my bones and my lunch threatened to rush back up.Dr. Brown rushed in, his face tight, followed closely by two medical assistants. Trevor must have called him through the mind link. He moved swiftly to Grannie Alba's side, the look in his eyes already confirming what my heart refused to accept. He listened with a stethoscope, checked her pupils, and performed some rapid motions. Then, he straightened, his voice low, filled with a practiced empathy that only fueled my rage. "Luna,” he said quietly. “

Chapter: Chapter 27I couldn't do it. I couldn't tell Grannie Alba that Alpha Moretti was a cruel, dangerous man who probably led the mafia group that has been responsible for the attacks back at Open Creek. I wanted to, I really did. But I thought of him hurting me if he finds out I told her. Or worse, hurting her. And I just couldn't bring myself to do it. Grannie Alba had been discharged and was told to rest for a few more days before doing any activities. She was staying in my room. I didn't care that there was already a room assigned to her. After all, I wasn't going to leave her side so she might as well stay right in my room. During the days while she recovered, I spent less time outside my room and so the chances of seeing Alpha Moretti were even slimmer than usual. However, we crossed paths one evening and the conversation we had was rather….odd. “How is she?” He asked curtly. “She's a lot better, thank you. Dr Brown expects that she will make a full recovery.” He nods. “That's good.”

Chapter: Chapter 26Tears sprung to my eyes when I caught sight of her eyes that were cracked open. I flung my arms around her, careful not to put my weight on her small body. I tried to speak but my throat was clogged. She raised her hand to pat me lightly on the back. Pulling myself away from her, I let my eyes roam across her face. “I missed you, Grannie.” “I missed you even more, my sweet child.” “I'm sorry I never came visiting. He didn't want me to see anybody outside this pack,” I said apologetically. “But he did.” “What? What do you mean?” “He brought me to the pack. I've been here for over a week before the incident,” she said just as the medical team entered the room and I was moved aside. I was gently and firmly ushered aside as the medical team performed their checks on Grannie Alba, their movements quick and efficient. Their hushed voices mingled with the soft beeps and hums of the machines that surrounded her bed. Once they were satisfied, they quietly exited the room, a

Chapter: THE END I had just finished washing my hands and was back to where my men stood over Alice's body when I saw a ball of colours approaching me with speed from a distance. My face softened when the ball of colours got closer to me. Nazlynn threw herself into my arms, almost knocking us both off balance. I hugged her tight, breathing in her calming scent and presence. She ran her hand up and down the nape of my neck, and I involuntarily relaxed into it. She squeezed me tighter in her arms, like she was scared to let go.I attempted pulling away to see her face but she shook her head and held on firmly to me. Chuckling, I pulled her closer in my arms, placing a kiss into her hair. When she pulled away, she raked her eyes over my body, running her hand over it at the same time. “Are you hurt anywhere? Did you get… Oh my God, you're bleeding,” she said fearfully, as her hand touched a wet patch on my shirt.“No baby, hey, relax. It's water, I just washed my arms. I'm okay, I promise.”She nodded.

Chapter: Chapter 157Elena ducked just in time for Enzo to aim for Alice's hand. The bullet went through her flesh, making her drop the gun and release her hold on Elena. She had pulled the trigger as her gun clattered to the ground.Alice glared at me, then looked at the door behind her through the corner of her eyes. I fired a shot as she pushed back into the door and into the library. I heard her groan that indicated my bullet had hit her but not enough to take her down.“I need someone in the rooms beneath and above the library. The rest of you secure this building in case there's a way outside of it. Gabriel, Enzo, with me,” I instructed before following behind her with my gun raised.Gabriel and Enzo walked silently behind me. When we got in, all the lights were turned off, making the library extremely dark. “You don't peg me as the ready type Alice. You can't exactly hide in there forever,” I called out as I walked further into the library.I silently cursed whoever had the idea of making a home

Chapter: Chapter 156Enzo shot bullets after, but she was no longer in sight. “Go!” I barked at my men who were staring at the place where she stood in shock. “Don't kill her,” I said as they passed by me. “That's for me.”If anything, I was glad we left that floor and were going back to the ground.“I don't know who's sloppier, you or your men,” I heard her call out, cackling. “You have a lot of guts, talking when that would only help us find you faster,” I said, nodding to my men to follow the sound of her voice.“What makes you think that's not what I want?” She asked in a cunning tone. I halted my men, clenching my jaw.Her words were suggestive. The only thing I could think of was that she may be setting up a bomb inside, or she may have already done it within the few minutes she had earlier. She seems to like playing with explosives. She was behind a door, and we had the door surrounded from a safe distance. I knew my men were waiting for me to give a go ahead so they could march in, but everybod

Chapter: Chapter 155I pulled Hailey out of her crib and into my arms, cradling her shakily. My eyes darted from Alice’s face to the door and back.Alice took a step towards me, and I scooted back on the floor, ignoring the stab of pain as my skin dragged across the shards of glass. “What's wrong? Waiting for hubby, or should I say your prince charming to save the day again?” She let out a menacing laugh. “Lucky for me, it's currently an all girl’s house.”“Please don't hurt my baby, I beg you, Alice,” I pleaded just as Hailey started to cry from the noise she had heard. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw the door to the bathroom open slightly, and Enzo peeked into the room.He gave me a small nod. Once I saw him raise his gun, I ducked, covering Hailey with my entire body. Alice was faster than him, but unfortunately, she managed to dodge the bullets that Enzo rained down on her until she ran out through the door and into the main house.“Fuck,” he swore loudly, rushing to my side.“Are you okay? Did

Chapter: Chapter 154Nazlynn’s POVAlice was certainly a girl who clearly didn't want to be found. Luca had his contacts pull some strings in the police department to put up a surveillance on her, but nothing has turned up so far. Nothing of essence was discovered at the house that Luca had found me in. Of course, his contacts in the police force had to cover up using some story about a robbery gone wrong. The bodies had already been taken care of by the time they arrived at the scene.I was up to speed at everything that was happening in no time. Elena and Mathias decided to have a small wedding but postponed it until after the whole Alice thing had been dealt with. Luca cleared things up with his father, and they were back to having their weird love-hate father-son thing. Whatever the hell that meant. I was about to convince Luca not to kill my so-called birth father. It's the least I could do since he saved my life. Our mansion was almost completely back on its feet, and we moved back in two days be

Chapter: Chapter 153“What do you mean you couldn't find her?” I asked shakily. Luca gave me a concerned look.“Luca, what do you mean by that?” I asked again, scooting towards the head of the bed and away from him.“Hey Nazlynn, calm down, baby. I'm right here, and I'm not going to let anyone hurt you, okay?” He said, reaching out to me.I smacked his hand away before it could come in contact with my skin. “No! No, no. She's going to kill me. She's going to kill us all. My baby. Where's my baby?” I asked hysterically. Luca shot up from his position on the chair and approached me carefully. I could see concern for me in his eyes.“Wh..where's Hailey?” I stammered as tears started streaming down my face. “Dr Martin!” Luca said, trying not to shout too loudly but making sure his voice was loud enough. He kept his eyes on me. He edged closer to me until I was cowered up by a corner of the bed. “Gabriel, get Dr. Martin now!” He yelled again.I grabbed his hand tightly, and I could feel my fingernails diggi
