Chapter Two 

Xavier's P.O.V

  I raised a brow when I saw the eyes that hovered over me as soon as I stepped into the dining hall where the supreme Alpha and other Alpha's of different packs were seated. 

"Alpha Xavier, late as always" A taunting smile grazed on Liam's lips, my cousin. 

 I ignored his remark and walked towards where the supreme Alpha was seated, lowering my head in reverence before sitting by his right hand. 

"Shall we?" Supreme Alpha Conan said, after giving me a nod. 

   Supreme Alpha Conan was the strongest and he was the lord over all the other Alpha's. He had called an emergency meeting because he wanted to handover his Supreme Alpha title to the most deserving Alpha. 

  Supreme Alpha Conan has been a father figure in my life ever since my father passed away and the title was passed on to me. 

  Fascinatingly, Supreme Alpha Conan picked a liking to me much to his son's Liam dismay. Liam had always been rebellious and it only took Supreme Alpha Conan's intervention and my intervention for him not to join the Rogues pack. 

He managed to get the  title of an Alpha but even though he was Alpha Conan's first son, he didn't stand a chance to get the title of a supreme Alpha.

But inside of him, he thought he stood a chance and whenever I see the mischievous smile that creased on his lips, I can't help but scoff. 

  Even though Liam tried to be ignorant of the fact that the title would be passed down to me, all the other Alpha present at the meeting knew that I was the one that the supreme Alpha had in mind, to pass the title down to.

But there was a criterion that I needed to fulfill before I would be crowned as the next Supreme Alpha. 

"I welcome you all to this meeting" His deep hoarse voice shook the room. 

We all lowered our heads as he heaved out a sigh.

"I am sure that we all know the reason that this meeting was called?" Supreme Alpha Conan said with his gaze fixated on me.

"Yes, hmmm" I cleared my throat, squirming in my seat. 

  Supreme Alpha Conan was the only one that I feared after the moon goddess. Because of his title, all the Alpha held him in fear and respect except for his son, Liam. 

"We all know the criteria for this position! If you don't have a mate, the position wouldn't be passed down to you!"

   A deafening silence enveloped the room as I stared at the Supreme Alpha Conan eye to eye. His eyes were blazing with fire and the silence was broken by Liam who was about to say his gibberish talks again.

He adjusted his suit and brushed his hands through his hair thoroughly as if it was about to be coiffed into perfection. 

"Well, the only person that doesn't have a mate here is Alpha Xavier" He smirked, glancing at his father who kept a straight face.

"Since Alpha Xavier wasn't blessed with a mate by the moon goddess, he is out of the other Alphas that the title should be passed down to"

"Now that Alpha Xavier is out of the equation, I think that I am the most deserving of the title. I am handsome, I am blessed with a mate, blessed with two children, I possess leadership skills, and most importantly, my father is the supreme Alpha and sensibly, the title and position should be given to me. Because I am the most deserving!"

  The youngest Alpha, Alpha Shawn was trying so hard to control his laughter from the rear end of the table that he was sitting at. I shot a glare at him and he quickly gathered himself together.

"Who said that I was out of the equation?" I retorted, shooting dead stares at Liam who did the same in return.

"We all know that you are cursed by the moon goddess and that's why you don't have a mate" A smile crept at the corner of his lips.

"Alpha Liam" Supreme Alpha roared, banging his fists on the table. 

"Well, I didn't lie," Alpha Liam muttered, sipping wine.

"I am pleased to tell everyone here that I, Alpha Xavier, the Alpha of the silver moon pack, the second largest pack"

"The second largest pack" Liam mimicked, making funny expressions.

"Before I was interrupted by someone irrelevant, I was about to share good news so I  would continue. I am pleased to tell Supreme Alpha Conan and all other Alpha's seat, that I, Alpha Xavier, have found my mate!" 

   Liam almost choked on his drink while a gasp erupted from the Alpha who surrounded the long dining table. 

"That's a lie!" Liam roared. 

"How's that a lie? Since we have a dinner party tomorrow, I would be bringing my mate for all to see"

"Congratulations Alpha Xavier" The Alpha's chorused in unison.

  I swiveled my gaze back to Supreme Alpha Conan and he gave me a nod that depicted he was pleased with me and happy for me.

"Now, since Alpha Xavier has shared this good news with us, can we start digging into our food"

   In reality, everything I said about finding a mate was a big lie! I haven't found my mate yet because of the curse the moon goddess placed on me. Me not finding my mate was my punishment for the sins I committed years back.

Everyone was living in the facade that I have changed, Supreme Alpha Conan thought that I had gone from being the ruthless Alpha who murdered mercilessly to being the sweet Alpha who handled taunts from my cousin every darned time.

They didn't know me! None of them ever did! Only the moon goddess and my pack members knew me for who I truly was.

I needed the title of the Supreme Alpha and since I have already gained the trust and support of Supreme Alpha Conan, not finding a mate wouldn't stop me from achieving my dreams. 

If the moon goddess doesn't bless me with a mate, I can just bless myself with one!

  Amidst us eating, my Beta Damian connected with me through the mind link. The fork I was holding on to, almost fell from my hands after hearing what he said. 

A wave of anger rushed through me and I could feel my beast growling inside! How could they let that happen? How careless were they to let that happen? I am surely going to skin them alive!

What gave him the audacity and effrontery to tell me that the lady that I wanted to get married to has disappeared?
