Chapter 2

Author: Perfect Peach
Thinking about that made me want to cry, but I had no tears.

"Summer, don't say that. Don't worry. Your father and I will make sure you have that job."

"Yes. Whether Sienna agrees to it or not, the job is yours. You two look alike after all. Just take her place. We'll make this happen."

Summer's eyes sparkled instantly. She sat up straight and asked, "You promise?"

"Of course. Since when have we ever lied to you?"

Seeing my mother's relaxed expression, Summer instantly smiled.

Summer hugged my mother and said, "Thank you, Mom and Dad. I knew you two loved me the best."

That warm, picture-perfect family scene was the one thing I spent my entire life craving.

At that moment, it only stung to look at.

The three of them came up with a plan to get Summer to take my place at work. Then, Sarah sent me a threatening message.

In essence, what she said was that if I dared to show up at work, they would kill me.

For the next three days, my parents took turns to send me messages. Even Summer joined in.

[Have you eloped with that man? Why aren't you returning home? Aren't you afraid I'll tell Mom and Dad?]

'Summer, oh, Summer. Go ahead. Say whatever you want to say. After all, it's not like you haven't falsely accused me all these years. When I made friends with guys, you called me a temptress, saying that I was seducing them. When I made friends with girls, you said I was trying to form a gang,' I thought to myself.

Through Summer's words, everything I did was wrong, and our parents had never once doubted her.

When I successfully got a civil service job, I thought my parents would acknowledge me.

Little did I expect that the job would get me killed.

On the third day, my mother was finally discharged from the hospital. She called me once more, but this time, my phone was off.

I had no idea where my phone was. I reckoned it was either buried with my dead body or taken away by that man.

However, I no longer wanted to think about that.

The only mystery I wanted to solve at that moment was why I was still attached to my family even after I had died.

Was I such an unlucky person?

I had once complained about it in my prayers, but no answer came.

I even tried to escape, but after a certain distance, I would be pulled back, as if by a strong magnetic force, trapping me with them.

"Sienna, if you like being away so much, just die and never come back," my mother cursed as my father helped her out of the hospital.

Summer smugly sent me a voice message, "You know, I reported in for duty today. No one knew that I had taken your place. Sienna, if you want to play missing person, go ahead. Don't show your face here ever again."

My parents were used to the vile things that Summer would say to me.

They even thought that Summer was too kind. They said to her, "Just tell Sienna that if she likes being out so much, just die and never come back."

Summer repeated it word for word, sending me another voice message.

My parents cheered her on.

They chuckled and were about to get into the car when Summer suddenly fell. She did not think much about it, but our parents were extremely anxious. They immediately took Summer to get checked up.

While waiting for the results, Brian paced about, muttering to himself, "She better be alright. She's our precious little daughter."

Sarah's eyes reddened while holding Summer's hand.

Watching that scene unfold, I finally felt a heartbeat. It ached.

If only they had been so concerned for me, even just once, when I was still alive, perhaps I would not have held such a huge grudge.

Soon, the results were back.

Perhaps it was Summer's punishment for doing so many evil things. She was diagnosed with leukemia and needed a bone marrow transplant.

Summer woke up to my parents hugging each other in tears. She said mockingly, "You can drop the act. Even if Sienna is alive, she won't want to be your daughter. You two were much crueller than I was. Sienna wouldn't have been so miserable if it weren't for you two."Summer no longer cared about anything. Every single sentence she said was to provoke them.In the end, my parents left the hospital in a huff. They spent the next few days handling my funeral. Many came to pay me a last visit on the day of my funeral. It was only then did my parents realized how many friends I had.Even my colleagues came to pay their respects.Someone said, "Sienna, if there is a next life, let's be colleagues again. My name is Mandy Chastain."They introduced themselves to me one after the other, smiling cheerfully. At that point, my limbs were gone. I was really going away soon.I was buried in the best spot in the cemetery. My parents said, "I hope this makes up for everything that we didn't

Facing Brian's questioning, Summer panicked. When she saw Sarah entering, she said aggrievedly, "Mom, look at Dad. What is going on with him? He's scaring me.""Answer your father."Their gaze was so sharp that it made Summer feel uneasy. She impatiently crossed her arms and confessed, "Yes, I heard your conversation with the fortune teller. I heard him say that whoever served you a glass of water first would bring you luck.""You…"My parents were speechless.Summer snickered. "Had the fortune teller made a mistake? Haven't you been doing well all these years?"My parents were speechless because what Summer said was true. Our family had been indeed doing well all those years. However, if Summer had cheated back then, that meant that everything that they had done to me all these years was wrong.Of course, they could not accept that. They started blaming Summer, especially on the matter of my kidnapping."When Sienna went to save you, why didn't you help her? Why did you ab

Once my parents left, Summer grumbled to herself, "Oh, so now they regret? Do they think that since I'm going to die, I'm no longer of any use to them?"I never once thought that Summer would doubt our parents' love for her. The only people in the entire world who truly loved Summer were them.Of course, what the fortune teller said had affected them too.Summer made a call."Oh, wise fortune teller, please help me…"I did not hear the rest of the phone call as I followed my parents home. They went home and made dinner for Summer as usual, combing through the internet to look for me, at the same time searching for a compatible bone marrow donor.Summer's story went viral on the internet, so no one was willing to do a compatibility test, let alone donate their bone marrow.I was most likely her only hope left. However, I was still thinking about the fortune teller that Summer had called. Could it be the same fortune teller? Before I could ponder any further, the police called m

However, Summer would not give up. She even forced our parents to look for me."If we can't find Sienna, who's going to give me their bone marrow? Are you just going to sit and watch me die?"My parents found it hard to accept Summer's malicious expression, but they understood her well. She was sick after all. However, Summer added, "Don't forget. I'm a bringer of luck to you. If anything happens to me, you two are finished."My parents were horrified. Not because what Summer said was right, but because they saw Summer in a new light. It was as if she were a stranger to them.My mother took it the hardest. She looked at Summer's distorted expression with disbelief. "Summer, what did you just say? Are you cursing your father and I?"Facing Sarah's disappointed gaze, Summer decided to no longer pretend. In the past, when she was mean to me, they thought nothing of it.However, at that moment, I guessed Summer must have sensed that she was about to die, so she decided to no longe

Not only did the people on the internet see the comments, but they even pinned it all the way to the top.Someone left a comment.[God! Is this some scandal about to be unveiled?]Right at that moment, someone found the photo that I took during my interview. They compared the photo with the one Summer took when she reported for duty and instantly realized that it was different.Someone left a comment.[I swear on my life. This isn't the same person.]More and more people commented, and soon Summer was the one attacked in the comments.A commenter laid out the situation.[Sienna was the one who got the civil service job, but it was Summer who reported for duty. Although I had not done the bone marrow compatibility test, the three of them truly believed that I was the one who could save Summer. That was because the fortune teller had once said that Summer would live a long and happy life.Half a month later, Summer was completely bedridden. My parents were exhausted from taking care of her. They were trying to look for me the entire time. They started to worry when I still had not shown up after such a long time."Do you think something could've happened to her?""How could that be? She must've gone into hiding because she found out I was sick and that I needed her bone marrow," Summer speculated. Our parents still believed her.In the end, Summer suggested, "I'm going on a livestream. People deserve to know what Sienna is really like."They agreed immediately, almost eagerly. That night, Summer went live. The livestream title was pure clickbait, engineered to go viral across the internet.[I'm dying, and my twin sister ran away inst
