•Ronan•

Being Alpha had taught me one lesson.

Power never brought peace.

It only gave people more reasons to challenge you.

The council chamber was already full when Desmond and I arrived.

The elders sat around the long oak table, their expressions unreadable. Some greeted me with respectful nods. Others barely looked in my direction.

I took my seat at the head of the table.

No one spoke at first.

The silence stretched until Elder Mike finally cleared his throat.

“Alpha.”

“What is it?”

•Desmond•The first thing I noticed was the silence. The forest behind the villa was never completely quiet. Even at night, there were always sounds, leaves moving in the wind, distant wolves calling from the hills, or guards speaking to one another as they changed shifts. That morning, there was nothing.I stood beside Ronan near the edge of the trees, staring at the patch of grass where the night guard had been stationed. His name was Caleb. He had served the Blackthorn Pack for seven years and had never abandoned his post. Now his weapon lay on the ground. His boots were still there. His radio was still attached to his belt. But Caleb was gone. The second guard to leave in less than a month.Ronan crouched beside the weapon and picked it up.“When was he last seen?”“Just after midnight,” one of the guards answered.“Who saw him?”“Nobody.”Ronan’s eyes hardened.“Then how do you know he was here?”The guard swallowed.“His shift was logged at midnight.”Ronan l

•Ronan•The message arrived before sunrise.I was standing beside the window in my study when Desmond entered without knocking, his face unusually serious.“Alpha.”I turned.“What happened?”He held out a folded piece of paper.“The former Alpha has requested permission to visit the villa.”My fingers tightened around the edge of the desk.“Victor?”Desmond nodded.I took the paper from him and read it.Victor wanted to see Lisa.No explanation. No reason.Just a request.I folded the paper.“No.”Desmond didn’t move.“That’s what I thought you’d say.”“Then why are you still standing there?”“Because you should know something.”I looked at him.“What?”“Victor already knows she’s here.”My jaw tightened.“How?”“I don’t know.”That answer bothered me more than it should have.Victor had been confined to his quarters for months, his health too weak for him to move freely around the pack, but that didn’t mean he had stopped having influence. He still had p

•Lisa•I couldn't stop thinking about Selene's warning. Not everyone who smiles in this pack is your friend.I had repeated those words so many times that even when I tried to sleep, they followed me into the darkness.Milo was still recovering, and I had spent most of the evening beside him, watching him sleep. Every few minutes, I reached over to touch his forehead, checking his temperature even when there was no reason to worry. He had finally fallen into a deep sleep.I pulled the blanket higher around him and stood from the chair. The villa was quiet.Too quiet.I stepped into the hallway and closed the bedroom door behind me, leaving it slightly open so I could hear Milo if he called for me.I walked toward the sitting room, but something caught my attention.A faint sound came from somewhere beneath the floor.I stopped. There it was again.A soft metallic sound.Clink.I looked around.Nothing moved.I took another step. The sound came again.I followed it d

•Milo•The room was dark when I opened my eyes. For a few seconds, I didn’t know where I was. Then I heard the soft beeping beside my bed.I looked toward the window. The moon was shining through the glass.I stared at it.Something inside me felt strange. My chest became warm, then warmer.I pulled the blanket down and placed my hand against my heart. It was beating fast.Beep.Beep.Beep.The door opened quietly. The old doctor stepped inside.I recognized him immediately. He had visited me several times since my surgery, but he was different from the other doctors. He never rushed. He always watched me carefully before speaking.Tonight, he walked straight toward my bed.“You’re awake.”I nodded.“Does anything hurt?”I shook my head.He placed his hand against my forehead. Then he frowned.“You’re warm.”“I feel okay.”He looked at the monitor. The numbers were changing. His eyes narrowed.“How long have you felt this?”“I don’t know.”He pulled th

•Milo•The pencil slipped from my fingers.I reached for it again and continued drawing. The nurse had given me a whole box of colored pencils that morning, but I only wanted the black one.I pressed it against the paper and drew the wolf’s head.Big ears.Sharp eyes.A long nose.Four strong legs. Then I drew myself beside him.I made the wolf much bigger than me because that was how he looked in my dreams. The nurse walked past my bed and stopped.“What are you drawing?”“My dad.”She looked at the paper.“Your dad?”I nodded. She pulled a chair beside my bed.“Can I see?”I turned the paper toward her.She stared at it.A huge black wolf stood beside a small boy beneath a large moon.I had drawn the wolf’s paw almost touching my shoulder. The nurse smiled.“He’s very big.”“He’s strong.”“Does he protect you?”“Yes.”She glanced at me.“Have you met him before?”I shook my head.“Not awake.”Her smile faded slightly.“What do you mean?”“He comes wh

  • The Dead Luna's Secret Son   Chapter 26: The Woman Called Luna

•Lisa•I heard the footsteps before I saw her. They were light, almost careful, moving across the marble floor outside the sitting room.I looked up from the book in my hands.A woman stood in the doorway. For a moment, neither of us spoke.I had seen her before. She was the woman everyone in the pack called Luna.Selene.She looked nothing like the image I had created in my mind.I had expected anger.Jealousy.Maybe even hatred.Instead, she stood there with a calm expression, her hands folded neatly in front of her.“Lisa?”Hearing my name from her lips made me sit straighter.“Yes.”She smiled.“May I come in?”I hesitated before nodding. She walked inside and closed the door behind her.I watched every movement. She didn’t look nervous. She didn’t look angry. She simply walked toward the chair opposite mine and sat down. For several seconds, neither of us spoke. Then she glanced at the book in my hand.“You still read when you’re nervous.”My fingers ti
