ROMAN

The words had barely left my lips when Selene crumpled. It was the farthest thing from a graceful collapse. One moment she was standing stiff beside Solana, and the next, her knees buckled as if someone had yanked the floor out from under her.

Solana gasped. "Selene!"

Her sister writhed on the floor, her movements dramatic and almost convincing. If you didn't know what to look for, that is.

I didn't move right away.

Real pain is messy. It forgets its audience. This didn't. Her cries came in waves, timed just a little too well. And when she rolled onto her side, I noticed her checking to see if I was watching.

Interesting.

"Roman—" Solana started, panic already rising in her voice.

"I see her," I said calmly, holding up a hand. "She's not dying."

Selene let out another anguished moan, louder this time, as if she was offended by my assessment.

I crouched anyway, because playing along costs nothing and it also tells you everything.

"What hurts?" I asked her.

"My—my chest," sh

SOLANA Gently, I dabbed my husband's forehead with a wet towel. At 106°F, his fever was alarming. He had finally fallen asleep after all of the restless tossing, his nosebleed finally ceasing.'It's the spell. That woman did something to him,' Astraea said, her voice laced with frustration."Isn't there a way to break it?" I asked her, brushing Roman's damp hair away from his face.'We have to find out what kind of spell it is. It's the only way,' my wolf whimpered, and I swallowed hard.Roman stirred weakly, his lashes fluttering."Flower?" He said, his voice hoarse. I moved closer to his side, stroking his face. His Adam's apple bobbed in his throat."I'm here, dearest. How are you feeling?" I asked. He struggled to focus his gaze on me, his eyelids slipping every so often."I don't...feel right. I'm so hot," he groaned, his abs flexing with every breath he took. I reached for the glass of cool water from the nightstand."Here, drink this. It will help," I whispered, gently

ZAMORA Roman's eyes bore into Nigel's. My heart raced faster in excitement. This was the moment I'd been waiting for. I knew my Alpha well enough to know that this would happen. If Nigel confessed the truth while Roman was asserting Alpha authority over him, the spell would kick in. There would be no undoing it without killing me or breaking Roman first.Nigel's voice hardened as he spoke, a tear sliding down his cheek. I wanted to kiss it away."She cast a spell," he said. "And forced me to sleep with her during my ruts."The instant he completed the sentence, I triggered the binding. “Go ahead, Nigel. Tell me exactly why she did that to you,” Roman urged.Nigel suddenly brought a hand to his chest, gasping for air.Silently, I activated the rune I had carved months ago into my flesh. I had prepared it long before today, feeding it drops of my blood.Roman was too powerful for me to completely erase his memories. But I could alter them.I watched closely as Roman stiffened. Fo

SOLANA The word had barely slipped from my lips when I heard the honking of Roman's car. We all rose to our feet, and I swallowed past the lump in my throat, awaiting my husband's arrival. When he finally stepped into view with Nigel behind him, my unease grew. His expression was completely blank. I wasn't sure if it was because he was exhausted or the meeting just didn't go well. Nigel gave me a small smile when his gaze met mine, and I promptly returned the gesture."Roman?" I breathed, and he looked at me, his features softening slightly. He finally halted in front of me, nodding in acknowledgment towards Anna. Then he wrapped an arm around my waist and pulled me flush against his chest, leaning in for a kiss. The heavy knots in my belly melted instantly, leaving me feeling light as his lips met mine."I missed you," he whispered when he ended the kiss. I guess I worried for nothing.Anna chuckled beside us, and blood rushed to my cheeks. Tara whistled, and I blushed harder

SOLANA I kept tossing and turning. Even my body felt warmer than usual. My husband, on the other hand, was not in bed. He had been on edge since earlier in the morning. As curious as I was, I'd held myself back from asking, worried that he would eventually find my questions annoying. He'd slipped out of bed somewhere around midnight. Perhaps, my body just couldn't get itself to relax because of his absence. Still, I tried so hard not to go looking for him. I reached for my phone, and the screen lit up. The time was 01:30AM.I groaned in frustration, lowering the phone. If there was one thing I couldn't bear to lose apart from my food, it was my precious sleep.'Come on out to the garden. Tonight is perfect for our merging,’ Andraea, my wolf said, and I smiled."You've been waiting to say that, haven't you?" I teased.'You're the one who forgot our training. Not me.'She was right. I had stopped trying to connect to my wolf's power when Roman had told me he had been worried th

SOLANA I stared at my best friend, a sickening feeling settling in my guts. Maybe she was wrong? If Elric had truly gotten to Selene, he would never have let her go in one piece. He had made it clear how far he would go to teach her a lesson for running away."What makes you think so?" My voice was calm even though I was anything but. Tara glanced towards the kitchen door and the windows as though she suspected that someone might be listening in on us. Then she moved closer to whisper in my ear."She has been eavesdropping a lot, Lana. And it's not just that, I saw her yesterday with Anna. Apparently, she had lost control of her bladder when Alpha Roman confronted her about her eavesdropping."I froze, recalling the way I'd sensed her behind the kitchen door the day we'd been gathered in the kitchen. My heart sank. "I suspect that Elric might have let her go in exchange for something. I don't know what it is. But she's been definitely snooping around," Tara explained, and I
