Henry's POV
I don't even need to turn around to know exactly who that is. The agonizing anger in his voice is enough clue, Peter. I wonder why he hates me so? Oh I remember. I kind of slept with his wife.
Without any adjustments I gracefully spun the chair around to face him and there he stood strong and tall like always with his bearded, intimidating face. He wasn't alone; by his right and left side were two men I know too well as well. Jackson and Dan respectively. And no I didn't sleep with their wives, just girlfriends.
“Ah. Peter, Jackson and Dan what a pleasant surprise," I greeted them pleasantly like we were best of friends and that seemed to anger them.
“How dare you speak our names like we are mates?" Dan said, looking like he was about to explode.
I wonder why the shortest ones are always the ones with the craziest anger issues?
“Huh? What did I miss? I thought we were buddies? Come on, I even helped your wives and girlfriends out when you guys couldn't deliver," I teased and enjoyed the angry frowns that danced on their faces.
I know I am playing with fire toying with them like this but I am an expert at these games to know how far I can go without getting burned. I know for a fact they won't attack me with these many humans around; that would be breaking one of the long standing rules of keeping our existence a secret from humans.
“You will have to come with us." Peter breathes, evidently trying his best to suppress his anger and control his actions.
I knew he would request I come with him so we could go and settle our beef where no human eyes would see. I should go as per the rules but I won't.
“What if I don't want to?" I raised a brow, my expression playful.
”You have to,": Jackson chipped in. I could literally see the bulging vein in his neck.
These fools just can't wait to have their hands on me. Can they?
“Have to? Nah I don't have to do anything other than drink some more wine," I smirked, spinning around to face the bar stand thereby backing them.
Turning my back to the enemy. Quite reckless you may say but I know I am safe.
That's the difference between them and I and the reason I believe I will survive any situation I face. I do not play by the rules. If I was the one in their place they would have been dead by now.
“Give me another drink will you?" I said to the bartender who could sense the tension between us but chose to mind his business as he went to take my order.
“You think you are clever right? You can't stay in here forever. We will be waiting for you," I heard Peter say from behind me before I started hearing departing footsteps.
I smirked but it quickly faded away as I realized they were right, I can't stay here forever and I am sure they won't mind attacking me here when the number of humans reduces to a handful. The rules do permit the killing of human eyewitnesses.
I have to come up with a plan, fast! Unless this might just be my last drink.
Bella's POV
”So delicious," I licked my mouth shamelessly of any particles from the sweet chicken soup. Not minding the fact that I wasn't alone.
Anyways I feel very much comfortable with Brian and Jane. My boyfriend and best friend respectively. And even if I am not with them Brian cooking skills can make one lose his/her manners totally.
Like just look at Jane she practically had her head buried inside the bowl like a freaking wild animal. Is she even breathing at all?
“Hope you girls enjoyed it?" Brian came out from the kitchen topless with just fitted shorts and even though I had seen him many times like this as he always preferred walking topless both indoors and outdoors my eyes still sparkled at his perfect physique.
Apart from his kind, brave and responsible nature and of course his wonderful cooking, one thing I admire about Brian is his looks; both facially and body wise. He has this sweet, cute boyish charm but with a manly, captivating frame that makes him both dreamingly and tough!
“I want more!" That was Jane's response to his question causing him to smile.
“I will take that as a yes.'' He said. After a couple of minutes we were done with the Brian's delicious meal and Brian saw both Jane and I out from his family house- mansion.
“Bye," Jane hugged me.
“And thanks for the meal, Brian. I truly enjoyed it," she said as she left.“You are welcome," he smiled genuinely.
I was left alone with Brian and as we walked down to my parents' house which wasn't too far away from the alpha's residence he intertwined his fingers with mine and held me close- he was both my lover and protector.
I raised my head up at his handsome face that seemed so high it touches the very sky as he was standing at an impressive height of 6 ft 4 while I stood quite low to the ground at 5 ft 8. Not that I wish to be an inch taller than this. I honestly love my height…
As we walked I suddenly thought of Henry and the bad memories Brian had tried so well to make me forget with his delicious meal and companionship. I felt irritated when I thought about his touch.
Brian always so observant, didn't fail to notice the change in my countenance even though it was night and dark.
”What's wrong?" He asked with both a concerned look and tone.
I didn't want to bother him with my problems. I have already bothered him enough as it is but I need something to erase these bad memories and feelings. Maybe if I replaced them with better, nice ones?
“I don't want to go home now. Can you take me somewhere a little bit more private?" I said with a slightly nervous but eager tone.
Henry's POV
“Here you go," the bartender dropped another bottle in front of me but his eyes lingered on me longer than usual.
I knew he had something in his mind and it didn't take a second long before he finally spilled it out. “My friend. Are you in any type of trouble? Those guys that came here early don't look too friendly."
I am no longer a stranger? It seems I have been upgraded to a friend. Well I kinda like the old man though his face is a thing of nightmares even for wolves.
“Well it's not something I can't handle," I said confidently as I can never appear weak in front of a human.
“Okay. Well if you need any help just know you ain't alone," he said giving me that look that he is here for me.
A human helping me? That will be the day!
“That won't be necessary_" I said, almost laughing at the offer but then an idea came to my mind.
“On second thought do you by any chance have wolfsbane?" I asked.“You mean aconitum?" He raised an eyebrow.
“Yeah that."
“Sure. I think I have like a jar or two of them in powdered form at the back," he replied and a sly smile spread across my face.
“Perfect! I will be needing all of it."
“What for? Are you running a fever or having body ache, my friend? Even if you are, you don't need that much quantity plus I am keeping it for personal use. I can't just give you everything," he said and I frowned slightly.
I could just kill him and go get it myself…but not today.
“My health has never been better, friend. But would you like to see an impossible magic trick?" I said and he looked a bit puzzled but excited at the same time.
“Most definitely."
“Okay then; I will finish 10 more of that strong liquor but it will cost you all the wolfsbanes_ sorry aconitum in your possession."
”That's not possible. You would kill yourself," he said causing me to smile.
“That's why it's called the impossible trick. Do we have a deal?" I said stretching my hand for a shake.
“Alright. Your funeral," he accepted my offer as he shook my hand....
Author's POV
The three men Peter, Jackson and Dan stood just outside the bar guarding and waiting for just one person and one person alone- Henry.
Jackson and Dan were standing side by side while Peter was a few distance in front of them gazing at the restaurant with full concentration.
“How long do we have to keep waiting? Can't we just go in there and kill him?" Dan said, always the impatient one.
“We can't risk humans discovering what we are. Henry knows this," Jackson said, his tone carrying caution with it.
“Then we kill both that bastard Henry and every single human in the bar leaving no eyewitnesses," Dan said, sounding both frustrated and annoyed.
“There are too many humans there, such a number of casualties would surely raise unnecessary questions," Jackson said.
“So are we just going to let him off the hook like that? Have you forgotten what he did to our girlfriends? What he did to Peter's wife?!" Dan said in a vexed state and Peter who has been quiet all these while clenched his feet tightly in anger.
Although it’s been more than 5 years since that day he came home to find his wife in bed with Henry, Peter could still remember every detail as if it was yesterday. The sexual smell of the room like a brothel house and the look of shock and shame on his wife's face.. but what he can't forget the most was that annoying smug and confident look on Henry's face despite being caught red handed. No remorse, nothing!
He should have been sent to the underworld that very day but Peter knew very well not to mess with any member of the largest and most powerful pack in this territory- Celestial pack. However Henry is no longer a member and today was the day he is going to make him pay...
“Calm your nerves down Dan," Peter said then turned around to face them.
”You have my word, that fool isn't escaping here today," he said then turned back to face the bar but continued addressing them.“While you two were bickering back and forth I have been observing the bar. Six persons have come outside and two people have gone in meaning the humans are no longer that much. We just need to be a little bit more patient.”
“So your plan is for us to keep waiting?" Dan wasn't too pleased.
Peter turned around to face him. “No. Once it hits 12 AM we attack the bar and we will leave no eyewitnesses," he said with a determined, purposeful tone and look.
Dan glanced at his wrist watch and a smile formed on his face when he saw what said the time.
“In five minutes time I would finally get my revenge!"Bella's POV I had been pacing back and forth in the large room for what felt like hours, my mind racing with thoughts of escape. I had gone to the window multiple times, contemplating jumping down, but both I and my wolf lacked the courage to take the leap. Or maybe my wolf just wasn't as desperate to escape as I was.Just as I was starting to feel like I was going to lose my mind, I heard a noise coming from the door. My heart skipped a beat as I stepped back, swallowing hard. The door opened, and I was met with a surprise.A tall, slender middle-aged man walked into the room, wheeling a tray covered in a tray cloth. He looked out of place in this foreboding castle, with his warm smile and polite demeanor."Good day, Miss," he greeted me, his voice smooth and refined.I raised an eyebrow, taken aback by his politeness. "You're a human?" I stated, more than asked. The man smiled warmly at me. "Yes, I am. My name is Alfred, and I am the butler of this establishment. I am here to serve
Damian's POV "My apologies, brother," he said, his voice barely above a whisper."I am no fool," I said, my voice firm and reassuring. "Obviously, I can't base my trust completely on the word of a witch. I have also been doing my research, long ago, even before I met this witch. And what she said about the constellation and the spirits of the earth needing to be in unison is actually true."Tristan's eyes widened in surprise, and he took a step back, his expression stunned. "I didn't know about this," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.I smiled, a small, determined smile. "I told you, I love your sister. I am not leaving any stone unturned in making sure she comes back to us. You just have to believe in me," I said, my eyes locked onto Tristan's, my gaze intense and sincere.Tristan's expression softened, and he nodded, a small smile playing on his lips. "I do believe you, brother. It's just...I'm so anxious to see her again, after all these years. I want everything to be per
Brian's POV As soon as I was alone in my room, I let my guard down and broke down completely in tears. The weight of my responsibilities as the alpha, the pain of my father's death, and the anguish of losing Bella all came crashing down on me. I felt like I was drowning in a sea of despair, unable to keep my head above water.I had been putting on a brave face for my pack, pretending to be strong and in control, but the truth was that I felt weak and fragile inside. The memory of my father's lifeless body, the sound of Bella's screams as she was taken away from me, it all haunted me, taunting me with my own powerlessness."Bella," I called out in sorrow, my voice cracking with emotion. I remembered the way she was dragged away, her eyes pleading for me to save her, and I felt a fresh wave of guilt wash over me. I wanted to save her, I wanted to protect her, but I was powerless to stop it.I thought back to the promise I made to her, the promise to always be there to protect her, and
Bella's POV "As you say, my Lord Dracula," one of the witches, the leader, bowed her head to say, then turned to face her sisters. "Let us begin the ritual. Bring the sacrifice into the marked circle."The vampires moved to drag me towards the circle, and I struggled against them, but they were too strong. They tied me down, spread-eagled, and I felt a sense of desperation wash over me.One of the witches drew out an enchanted dagger, and I could feel its dark energy emanating from it. Another witch held my head in place, her grip like a vice, as she positioned me so that my throat was exposed. The leader of the witches began to chant, her voice rising and falling in a hypnotic rhythm. She consulted the stars and the ancestors, asking for their acceptance of the sacrifice. "Let the life force of this werewolf be exchanged for that of our beloved Selena," she intoned.Damian and Tristan, along with the rest of the vampires present, watched with eagerness, their eyes gleaming with anti
Bella's POV "Ahh!" I cried out as I was pushed forcefully into a dark, cramped cell by one of the vampires. I groaned as I landed painfully on the hard concrete floor, my body aching from the impact. I raised my head up to catch the man looking at me scornfully before he walked away, the sound of his footsteps echoing through the cold, damp air.The place was a nightmare. It was not only dark and cramped, but it was also smelling like rotten flesh and feces. I could even hear the sounds and noises of the rats running about, their scurrying feet and squeaks making my skin crawl. I never liked rats! I felt grossed out, but my feelings of fear and worry were higher on the scale. But even higher was the feeling of loneliness. I had no idea how far away from the borders of my pack I had been taken. Would I ever see my parents again? Would I ever see my best friend Jane again? Would I ever see my boyfriend Brian again? The thought of never seeing them again was like a knife to my heart, tw
Henry's POV Darkness. Pitch, black darkness! That's all I could see around me. It was so thick, like a dark cloud, I could practically touch it. Where exactly am I? I couldn't see anything until two small, glowy red balls with golden rings at the center, like the sun, suddenly appeared in the darkness. It was quite beautiful, but... What are those? Eyeballs?!"D...Damian," I called out, my voice shaking with fear. I could literally hear my own heartbeat, and it was racing with anxiety. "Is that you?"The silence was deafening, and it made my blood pressure increase. And then, the two glowy balls suddenly vanished, only to reappear dangerously close to me. A scary vampire face with long fangs extended, threatening to bite, appeared before me."Ahhhhh!" I screamed, totally startled. My heart was racing, and I felt like I was going to pass out.Just then, my eyes opened up, and I saw that it was just a dream. I felt a wave of relief wash over me, and my heartbeat gradually slowed down.
Brian's POV "Brian... wake up... Brian..." The soft, faint voice was like a gentle breeze in my ear, calling out to me from the darkness. I lay battered and bloodied on the cold floor, my guts practically spilling out of my stomach. Every inch of my body screamed in agony, and I couldn't even muster the strength to respond. But then, I heard it again. "Brian, please wake up. They have taken Bella... please, you have to wake up... we have to help her..." The mention of Bella's name was like a defibrillator to my heart. It sparked something inside me, and I felt a surge of energy coursing through my veins."Be...lla," I managed to whisper, my voice barely audible. I opened my eyes slightly, and Jane's blurry face came into view. She looked worried and stressed, her eyes red from crying. As my vision slowly cleared, so did my thoughts. Memories of the previous night's events came flooding back. We were celebrating Bella's birthday party when Henry showed up with a bunch of vampires. A f
Bella's POV "No, no, no, you can't please," I begged, my voice shaking with desperation. "Have mercy, please. It was because of me your life once spared once, please have mercy on us this once. I promise to do whatever you want. I promise to follow you, please just spare their lives." Tears streamed down my face as I pleaded with Henry, my heart breaking at the thought of losing everyone I loved.Henry's expression remained unyielding, his voice dripping with contempt. "Sorry, love, but I can't make the mistake you did. When you have a chance to kill the snake, you make sure to crush all the eggs it has laid, unless one day when you least expect one of them would come for you." He turned to face the vampires, his voice rising in command. "What are you waiting for? Why are they still alive?"The vampires turned to Damian, their eyes seeking his approval before taking action. Henry's eyes narrowed, his body tensing up as he realized that Damian was the one in control, not him. For a mo
Bella's POV "What? What did I just say? Did I just call this vampire my mate?" I thought to myself, my mind reeling in shock. It can't be. It must be a mistake somewhere. I looked at the vampire, his eyes still locked on mine, and felt a shiver run down my spine."It's no mistake. He is our mate," a voice said in my head, causing a slight headache. I winced, rubbing my temples. What the...? Was I really hearing voices in my head now? Had the trauma of the day finally driven me mad?"You are not running mad. I am your wolf," the voice said again, and my eyes dilated in surprise. My wolf? Has my wolf really awakened? I had always known that I was a werewolf, but my wolf had never been active before."Yes. I have awakened. Our mate's presence was what brought me out of my slumber," my wolf said, her voice clear and strong in my mind. I felt a surge of emotions, shock, fear, and confusion. How could this be? How could this monster, this killer, be my fated mate?Looking at him again my h
