Chapter 3

Lillian Pov

After sitting down uncomfortably in Asher’s chamber, I literally ran out with no words spoken and not even a thank you. I am super nervous and I do not know what is in store for me, but right now I have to smile widely and pretend I am thrilled because I don’t want Octavia to catch on my mood. I head to the hall alone, covering the bandage on my head with my hair. When I got to the hall, the birthday was in a dark theme, as usual. Dark balloons and dark decorations. To me, it felt like a funeral and even the guest was not happy, only the demons were happy. I see my twin brother and his mate with pups and I walk towards them smiling widely, well I see them all the time, but I have been in the demon kingdom for 3 weeks now.

“Hey guys, glad you could make it,” I said, my voice sounding like I was the happiest person in the world. Octavia turned to me and she was looking beautiful as usual. She is wearing a golden gown, the gown hugs her curves in the right places. Her white hair is packed in a tight bun, enhancing her purple eyes.

She has this radiant glow to her, and her aura and confidence can’t be matched. I really admire her strength and courage. She has gone through a lot of things and here she is today. I look at Silver and he has his arms wrapped around her protectively, their pups standing in front of them. I admire them a lot and I wish I had what they have, but at least I am happy for my brother. He found himself a great mate.

“Hey guys,’’ I said, greeting the pups one by one. The twins are definitely looking bigger now. They are wearing a purple robe with their crown on their head. Purple is Zira’s favorite color and I am happy they wore it. Dean and Archie are also wearing the same thing and they don’t look happy. In fact, none of them were.

“Lillian, why is Zira’s birthday hall looking like a funeral party? Did someone die?” Octavia asked, a big frown on her face. I smiled, trusting her to always hit the nail on the head.

“Well, she is a demon princess, so this is how they celebrate,” I said, completely brainwashed. Her frown deepened.

“That is not good. Does Zira like this? And are you not supposed to be with her?” Silver asked.

“She will come with Asher,” I said. Octavia looked at me, her suspicious gaze on me. Then she flipped my hair.

“Who injured you?” she asked, looking angry. Nothing can get past her sometimes.

“I fell,” I said, lying straight through my teeth. But technically, it’s not a lie. I fell. I didn’t just say who pushed me.

“And it’s not healed?” Silver asked, and they both looked at me, expecting answers. I bite my lips. What will I tell them now? A loud horn was heard, and everyone’s attention turned to the front of the hall. I thank my stars, happy their attention is on something else. Asher, Zira and Alma walked in, looking like the picture perfect family with Zira in the middle. Their black clothing, black wings and horns. I look at Zira and she is the saddest birthday girl I know. She can barely walk with the heaviness of that gown. And the way they packed her hair up is looking so heavy and my heart swells in sadness because I can’t do anything about it.

“She looks miserable’’ Octavia said, looking at her in pity. And she wasn’t lying. Zira is so close to tears and Asher is not even seeing how sad she is. She turned to me, her watery eyes looking at me, expecting me to help her from that situation, but I could only look down because my hand was tied up. They got to their throne, and they all sat. I sighed, knowing I have completely lost Asher and probably my daughter because as the years go by, I am losing control and right over my daughter.

******************

It has been a few hours, and the party is becoming more terrible. No birthday cakes, no beautiful and cherry songs for birthday girl to dance with. The demons are the only ones enjoying the party, and the songs they are playing are old demon jams and are not suitable for a 10-year-old. Dean and his brothers tried to dance with their cousin and Zira looked genuinely happy they were coming towards her, but the guards stopped them. Apparently, they can’t go near her. Hayden had gotten so mad he cried himself to sleep on Silver arms and the rest were just angry, especially Octavia.

“What sort of sick and heartless human being throws this type of party for a 10-year-old?” Octavia asked, and she sounded furious. I stayed there quietly, saying Alma in my mind. She is the mastermind of everything, and Asher just listens to her.

“Lillian, are you really going to allow them to do this to your daughter? The poor girl is trying to hold in her tears like she is not allowed to show her emotions,” Octavia said, turning to me. I gulped because she is not allowed to show her emotions. That is what she is taught.

“I can’t say anything Octavia,” I said, slowly.

“Well, I have a lot of things to say because I won’t allow anyone to bully her on her birthday. Now where the hell is Asher?” she snapped, standing up. She looked around, and she spotted Asher. I don’t know if her mind linked him or something, but he walked closer to us.

“Hey” he said, smiling and going to hug Octavia. Even if they are dimensions away apart, they will forever have that special bond. But right now, she is mad at him.

“Don’t you dare,” she warned. Asher frowned, looking at her.

“What did I do?” he asked.

“What did you do? Who the hell planned this wretched party?” she snapped. And I hail her on in my mind, not like she gives a damn about anyone.

“I am your majesty,” Alma said, coming from behind Asher. Octavia looked at her up and down, irritated like she was just a mosquito buzzing in her ear.

“Of course, you gave this old hag demon the job of planning a 10-year-old birthday. What were you thinking?” she asked, insulting Alma right in front of her. And I did my absolute best to hold in my laughter as they both looked at her saying nothing.

“But it’s nice,” Asher said, completely weak in front of her. I guess she just has that effect on people. She can be scary, honestly.

“Nice? Look at Zira, she looks so miserable but you have your head stuck up high in your ass you can’t see how miserable she is,” she said. And Asher said nothing, not like he can.

“Your majesty, refrain from talking to his majesty that way,” Alma said, and I see Octavia's eyes twitching.

“And who gave you the permission to put your mouth in between a royal sibling fight? Who are you? What is your job in this kingdom? You are just an old hag with no title except following your king everywhere like a fucking bodyguard. You are a nobody, you have no rights over Zira, she is not yours but Lillian and Asher’s child so she will plan her fucking birthday as her right and you fucking mind your business,” she snapped, glaring at her harshly while daring her to say a word but she dares not because we all know her reputation, Octavia doesn’t give a fuck on who you are and even Asher kept quiet. She turned to Asher.

“I can’t believe you will allow her to plan her birthday. Lillian is her mother, and she knows her best. Does she look happy to you?” she asked. Asher looked at Zira and she was even crying now. Asher sighed.

“I messed up, but how do we fix it?” he asked and Alma looked at him, genuinely shocked he was siding with her. I smirked mentally. Asher will listen to his sister over any demon. Including her.

“That is why I am here, but first get rid of that depressing song,” she said, looking at Alma. Alma stood there, looking at Asher to say something.

“You heard her, change it,” he said, looking at her. She swallowed her comment and walked to the dj, her face red. Octavia walked to Zira, and the guards didn’t dare stop her. I wish I had the type of aura she has. Zira smiled as she walked to her and carried her off to the throne. Then they teleport while Asher breathes out.

“Why does she scare me so much?” he asked, turning to us. Silver laughed, patting Hayden’s back softly. He cried so much he had hiccups.

“She scares everyone,” he said. Asher breathed out again.

“You let her boss you around?” Silver asked, his face serious.

“I don’t,” he said. He does.

“Seems to me you allow her boss around you. I don’t know the relationship between you both or what is the agreement but Lillian is your child’s mother and even if she is not your queen, she has all the right to Zira. Things like this are meant to be planned by her, even if Zira doesn’t really have wolf qualities, but the fact remains, her mother is a wolf and she deserves the respect as the mother of your child. I hope next time you tell the right from your wrong,” Silver said, looking at Alma. Asher turned to me and he gave me a long look, but I know no matter what anybody says to him, Alma will still boss him around. That is how much he respects her.

I haven’t read about Demons but do they have an Achilles heel? If so, the wolves need to use it soon. She is awful. Like the story though!
