Alexander’s POV

The phone buzzed again, vibrating against the metal tray by Megan’s bedside. I stared at it, the name flashing across the screen like poison. Victor.

But silence never stopped my father. It only gave him room to push harder, to twist deeper. If I didn’t pick up now, he’d just keep coming.

I snatched the phone up and pressed it to my ear. “What?”

Victor’s voice slid through the receiver, sharp and smug. “That’s how you greet me? No respect left in you, Alexander?”

I clenched my jaw, turning away from Megan’s fragile figure on the bed. “You don’t deserve my respect.”

“Careful,” he warned, his tone cool, practiced. “You forget who you are speaking to. You forget who gave you the name you carry.”

“I haven’t forgotten,” I said, my voice low and edged. “I’ve just stopped caring.”

There was a pause, then the faintest chuckle. “So it’s true then. Megan lost the child.”

My stomach knotted. His words weren’t a question, they were a blade, slicing into the air with deliberate cru

  • The Devil’s Bride   CHAPTER 60: Alexander’s Dark Diary

Megan’s POVI’m definitely in love with Alex, Alexander Zeus. There’s no two ways about it. I just have to admit. No matter how bad I tried to make this marriage nothing more than a contract… I just kept and keep falling for him, over and over again. Alexxx…It started from a forced contract marriage to this. To him protecting and choosing me over his father and the family.I definitely don’t want divorce anymore when the contract expires. I’m definitely not running away anymore. Alex is my love, my lover, my protector, and my very sweet mate. “ Are you good though? I think you still need to rest after such a painful miscarriage?” Alexander asked me. It touched my soul deeply because this was the first time which he’s asking me how I feel before sex and my opinions on it. Crazy shit.He was right, it pained me physically, emotionally as well. Making me guilty. It was like I was the prosecutor in our baby’s life. Poor thing that didn’t even get a chance to live.Alex was also responsi

  • The Devil’s Bride   Chapter 59: Standing by My Baby Fox

Alexander’s POV:Victor held my wife, Megan against the walls, squeezing her jawline, her stance on toes, daggering my heart to a fault. “ How dare you! You’re no fit to be married into the Zeus family,” he said and swiftly took his hands off her, her jawline reddening, her eyes teary but with no remorse. He had never seen Megan this angry before. Perfect surprise! My baby fox always has surprises. I put a punch on my dad’s left cheek, “ Don’t do that father. Fucking stop it. She’s my wife. Whatever you do to her, I’ll repay you a thousand times over and over, it might cost you your life,” I shouted at my father, my voice echoing, my workers gathering around… My father was crazy. Fucking ass crazy!Whether he raised me or not, wasn’t a reason for him to hurt my wife and go away scot free. She’s my all in one. It happened once but not this time. I just have to be there for Megan and stand up for her. She’s gone through way too much emotional trauma from me, from my father, from Rich

  • The Devil’s Bride   Chapter 58: Family on Fire

Megan’s POVBut outside of this mask, something told me that Alexander was scared of his father’s warnings but just trying to hide it, for me, for us. Crazy… My baby boo bear! “ Alex! Alex?! We heard your new wife had a stillbirth, yeah? We just brought you a new wife and divorce papers for your failure wife. You still there?” Yeah right, it was the prestigious members of the Zeus family and Legacy, right here to teach my husband who to marry and how to produce an heir. Crazy shit!“ Stillbirth is an insult and disgrace to our family legacy, to the Zeus Legacy as a whole. You’re trying this again with the surrogate wife I just brought,” the head of the Zeus Legacy spoke, his eyes squinting in a dark curve, showing tiredness and betrayal. “ You can’t just hop into my house and do that. She’s my wife. I make the rules here. Uncle, when last did you come to this house? You usually only come when we have serious issues… are you implying that you came here just to complain about me and m

  • The Devil’s Bride   Chapter 57: Victor is the Devil Himself

**Alexander’s POV**I’m scared of my father’s next moves. Not gonna lie. But I just have to be strong for Megan, for my wife, with or without the baby, my heir, our heir actually. Her eyes filled with tears, her luggage dropping to the floor in a dump. “ She must get pregnant and try again or I kill her myself. This isn’t over, it’s just the beginning for you two disgusting love fowls!” my father warned calmly but dangerously, leaving my house, after he saw that Megan’s attitude changed the moment he killed Lila and that it’s now he vs us. I and Megan. “ Your father talks about me like I’m some commodity for auction. I’m a person too… he couldn’t even treat me right,” Megan released, her eyes wet from crying. Her head resting on my chest, the tears glistening. “ You’ll be fine. I’ve got you. You’re mine. I’ll protect you, my wife, even if it costs the last drop of my blood to shield you. That’s a promise wrapped in golden steel, I give you… And I swear to keep to the new agreement

**Megan’s POV**Victor’s words struck me like lightning, my balance loosening. I felt Alexander’s hand gently caressing my back, owning me, sending, “ I’ve got you”. Tears fell down my eyes. It was the worst day of my life I fucking swear. Victor Wilson Zeus coming to my matrimonial home just to destroy everything I’ve gone through with Alexander. I got a miscarriage and he couldn’t even budge. He fucking came to my house to destroy everything instead. “ No, father. She’s my wife. We’re not doing this!” The husband I married finally spoke up in my defence. I was frozen in a dilemma as to whether Alexander’s words should give me hope or that Victor should dislocate my heart and body. Lila turned back for the stairs but Victor ordered her to be still, leaving her frozen mid-air. I didn’t dare speak. Victor’s words were as direct as they sounded. If he said I’m leaving his son’s house, then that’s it, the final blade to my heart. “ Your wife? What I said is a statement, not a req

  • The Devil’s Bride   CHAPTER 55: A New Agreement

POV: THIRD PERSONThe house was too quiet for comfort.Megan stood in front of the tall glass windows, her packed suitcase by her side, her heart pounding like a drum that had lost rhythm. She had folded every piece of clothing neatly, tucked away every reminder of her temporary existence here, and zipped her life into two medium-sized bags. She couldn’t wait for Victor to come charging into the mansion with his booming voice and cruel eyes. She wouldn’t give him the satisfaction of chasing her out. No she would walk out with her dignity. The sun was barely up, casting pale orange streaks over the marble floor, and Megan was already clutching her bags. Every corner of the house felt hostile, like the walls themselves whispered that she didn’t belong. She took a deep breath, tightened her grip on the suitcase handle, and began to make her way toward the back door when she heard footsteps.“Ma'am?”Her body froze. The voice was soft, hesitant. She turned slowly and saw Lila standing at
