Chapter 62

Unwilling Connection

Anastasia trudged into her house, feeling drained and uneasy after the long, frustrating day at the hospital.

Her body screamed for rest, but her hunger clawed at her too, making her feel even more irritable. The cold walls of the house were a stark contrast to the chaos of her mind.

“I really need something to eat,” she muttered to herself, walking straight toward the kitchen.

The familiar surroundings were oddly comforting, but she couldn't shake the tension building up inside her.

The thought of Vanessa crossed her mind as she opened the kitchen door. She hadn’t seen her roommate in over a day, and if she were being honest, she wasn’t exactly looking forward to it.

“Is that bitch even home?” she muttered, then raised her voice, “Vanessa! Are you here?”

Silence.

“Hmph. She’s not home better,” Anastasia said under her breath, relieved to be spared a confrontation. She didn’t have the energy to deal with Vanessa’s sarcasm today.

Chapter 61Unwanted ConnectionDavid had no idea what he was feeling as he stared at the young woman. She was fiery and aggressive, but there was something about her that he couldn’t shake off. He stood at the edge of her bed staring at her, feeling more confused than ever. How could he be this attracted to a stranger?“Who are you, and why are you here?” Anastasia asked, her voice sharp as she pulled herself from his hands and sat back on the bed.David opened his mouth to answer, but the words failed him. He cleared his throat, trying to find something anything to say that would make sense.“Uhmm…” His voice faltered again.“Cat got your tongue?” Anastasia's irritation was clear as her eyebrows knitted together.“I’m… the one who almost hit you with my car,” David finally managed to say, his voice soft but steady. Her eyes narrowed, and her lips twisted in a sarcastic smile. “Oh, wow. You’re the guy who was so blind he couldn’t see someone crossing the road?”David’s initial guilt

Chapter 60Unforeseen EncountersDavid’s head was spinning with the chaos of the Blackwood mansion. The tensions, the hidden agendas, it was all suffocating. His brothers were at each other’s throats, and their bitter rivalry over a woman, Aurora, was threatening to tear the family apart. One of them was driven by ego, the other by lust. Neither cared about the consequences. David, the quiet one, always stayed out of the drama, but today, he needed to escape."I'm heading out for a while," David called out to his personal guard. "If anyone asks, tell them I went out."“Shouldn’t you have an escort, sir?” his guard asked, concerned.David waved him off. “No need. I don’t want any attention.”He walked toward the garage, his eyes landing on a sleek black SUV that had been sitting unused for weeks. It was brand new, untouched, and gleaming in the sunlight."Let's see what this new ride can do," he muttered to himself, feeling a rare flicker of excitement as he slid into the driver's sea

His chiseled jawline, the perfect slope of his nose, the way his features made him look like a demigod, only fueled her obsession. She had always admired him, but hearing him admit even in his drunken state that he wanted her, pushed her over the edge. She had to have him. Now.She clenched her fists, her mind racing. She knew she should feel guilty, that what she was thinking was wrong. But all she could focus on was Peter, lying there, vulnerable, and the need to claim him for herself. Aurora had no right to him, especially not after ignoring him all these years.“I guess I just have to take what’s mine now,” Tiffany whispered to herself, a dark resolve settling in her heart.Slowly, she began to undress, peeling off her clothes with deliberate precision. Chapter 57Torn HeartsPeter sat in the plush lounge of Tiffany’s mansion, staring blankly at the ceiling. His mind was a tangled mess of thoughts, the weight of regret and confusion heavy on his shoulders. Life felt like it was spiraling out of control. Nothing seemed to make sense anymore. Aurora. Tiffany. His own choices. Everything had gotten so... complicated.“Everything is just fucked up,” Peter muttered under his breath, his voice heavy with sadness. He raked his fingers through his messy hair, sighing deeply. “I need a drink… something to take the edge off.” He stood up, feeling a new resolve wash over him. “I just need to get high, forget all of this... if only for a little while.”Peter wandered into the mansion’s massive wine collection, his eyes scanning the rows of expensive bottles. Tiffany had always had a taste for luxury, and her wine cellar was no exception. He didn’t care about the taste, though. He just wanted something strong. Something that would numb the pain
