Chapter 115

Lillian

Time flew by so slowly that I could count each wavering second.

  Every day felt like the wind; of course, I had Jade, Oliver and Noah, but I still felt that absence.

That hollow feeling like there was a wormhole in my belly.

Like a missing piece to a puzzle.

Like I can't breathe yet air passes in and out of my nostrils.

Laura had been discharged and she was a hefty baby. She Cries a lot and makes faces whenever she feels like it.

It's been a year since Zayden's imprisonment, and he hasn't been granted bail, nor has he been granted any form of visitation.

It wasn't until last week that he was finally allowed to get visits, and so, for the first time, I'm going to the Fox River Prison to pay my husband a visit.

He would be surprised how much Laura had grown, and the striking resemblance they shared.

She had grey eyes and a troublesome personality. Always clawing at my clothes or pulling at my hair. And then she would crawl on the floor, scattering her toys and a whole lot of stuff as she goes.

She would be turning one soon and I wanted to celebrate her birthday with Zayden during one of the visitation hours.  It would be a nice small party with just the three of us.

I put Laura down on her crib after feeding her breast milk. She snored softly, cuddling her tiny legs to her belly.

Walking over to where I placed the photo album on the dresser, I picked it up and began arranging the photos inside.

Over the months I had made sure to take photos and videos of us so that I could show them to Zayden. He wouldn't miss out that way.

I finished arranging the photos and placed them in my bag.

I did a quick cross-check to make sure that I wasn't forgetting anything and then packed my bags.

After taking a nice shower, I got dressed and left the house. I was headed to the office first because Jade had offered to come with me along with Oliver.

Oliver had become the new CEO of Kent Tech. The rightful owner was Zayden's mother, but since she had passed on, it's only customary that her eldest son takes over, since Zayden's circumstances won't allow it, he passed down all his shares to Oliver.

The lawyers had suggested that I take over since I was his wife but the workload would be too much. I already had a jewellery shop that was making ten times the sales an average shop would make in a day in just an hour; plus, I had a baby and house duties to take care of.

If it weren't for Brenda's support, it would have been hard for me. For the first few weeks after Laura was discharged, she stayed in my house, helping and teaching me simple things I needed to know as a new mother.

And she had been of great help in the business too.

So, in summary, Oliver Glady lent a helping hand so the company wouldn't crash.

They signed the documents and so Oliver was handling the company matters.

Fun fact, Oliver fired his dad and a whole bunch of board members and then made Jade his secretary.

Honestly, she was way worse than I was. I didn't spend Zayden's money this much while we were still boss and employee.

She was literally throwing money into thin air. From travelling the world to buying expensive footwear and luxury bags.

She even got a Mustang, her new motto was that rich boys deserve pussy. That's the complete opposite of Cardi's.

Don't get me started on their ridiculous relationship. I won't be surprised if she gets pregnant anytime soon.

It took half an hour to arrive at the company. I strapped my baby to my chest and walked briskly to the entrance.

As I stepped foot into the building, it reawakened memories.

Two years ago, I would have been running upstairs, sweating my guts out and thinking of ways to appease him.

" Good morning, Mrs Kent." Sansa greeted, a bright smile on her face.

I nodded at her." How are you doing today?"

She rushed at me, reaching out her hand to touch Laura." I'm good ma'am. Oh my God, she's growing so fast. Is that a tiny little tooth?"

I chuckled." I noticed it too, she's growing a tooth so early."

"She's so pretty."

I giggled and waved at her as I stepped into the elevator.

I didn't bother knocking and that was a huge mistake on my part. Jade and Oliver were at it again.

" Can you guys not do this in the office?" I groaned, covering my eyes at their nudity.

I turned around and waited for them to get properly dressed.

" You know, there's this thing called knocking. I don't know if you've heard of it?" Jade snarled, walking over to carry Laura in her arms.

I rolled my eyes." There is something called privacy. Get a room please."

Jade only hissed and went back to sitting on Oliver's tighs." I thought you said 12pm?"

I placed my purse on the desk." Yes, and it's almost 12. We need to get going."

I spent another 20 minutes in the office before we finally hit the road.

The journey to Fox River was approximately 3 hours. And when we finally got there, I couldn't help the pounding of my heart.

I hadn't seen Zayden in a year, in 365 days.

That's a very long time.

We were ushered to the visitation area and waited for Zayden to be brought to us.

My palms were sweaty as I jerked my knees, waiting for him to arrive. We were granted a physical audience instead of that glass wall and telephone because this was his first visitation in a year.

The only issue was that the visitation room was like a restaurant. Other prisoners were allowed to see their loved ones at the same time and in an open area.

I held my breath as I watched my husband come out through the doors, with his hands cuffed together.

I swallowed the lump in my throat as I stood to my feet.

His grey eyes searched the room till they landed on mine.

"Lillian." His voice was rough; he had grown beards around his jawline, but he still looked the same.

The only difference was that he looked exhausted.

I couldn't stop the tears from falling asleep I ran over to hug him. I wrapped my hands around his neck, placing kisses on his face and lips.

" I've missed you so much!" I whimpered.

He snuggled into the crook of my neck." it's been so long, Lilly. Every single second day had been torture."

I shut my eyelids, trying to blink back the stream of tears that was rapidly escaping my lacrimal glands.

" My love...Finally, I get to see you." I crooked out.

Why did it feel like I was suffocating?

I noticed that he was staring behind me and my line of sight followed his.

A broad smile appeared on my face just as Zayden moved over to where our daughter sat in Jade's lap.

" Is ...is that my baby girl?"

I nodded at him." Yeah, that's your daughter."

He moved over to her and caressed her cheek. She smiled, showing off her one tooth.

Zayden turned to look at me." God....she's so.....so beautiful."

Jade helped Zayden put her in his lap. She didn't refuse or cry like she always does whenever a strange person tries to lift her up.

She just remained still, staring at her father like she was trying to imprint his face in her mind.

The whole scene was heartwarming.

Zayden smiled." I'll be with you soon." He whispered, pressing a kiss on her tiny knuckles first then her temple.

He turned to look at me." Sorry for keeping you waiting, Lilly."

I scooted over to him and wrapped my hands around one of his." I'll still be waiting."

We stared at each other, both our eyes brimming with love and assurance.
