Chapter 73

Zayden

Lillian didn't say a word.

Sage waved a hand in front of her face." Are you deaf or something? You should better start packing up, I need to fumigate this place soon."

Slowly, Lillian lifted her eyes. They were dead, no colour in them. The usual bluish glow was gone.

" What did you say?" Her voice was icy, even I felt the chill.

Sage huffed, flipping her hair over her shoulders." I said  I'm moving in since I'm carrying the future heir to the company. Take your trash and move out before tomorrow!" Her voice came out as a yell.

Suddenly, Lillian lifted the broken mop stick, and it landed directly on Sage's head.

She let out a cry as she landed on her butt. Lillian raised the stick again and sent it crashing into her head again, and then she began hitting her on the leg,  purposely avoiding her tummy, back and waist.

Sage screeching cries reached my ears but I just stood there watching.  She couldn't even defend herself;  she was as weak and helpless as a church rat.

If I wasn't in such a huge mess I would have smiled. I loved what Lillian was doing and how hostile she was.

A part of me, a tiny bit of me silently wished she would lose the baby right there. That's how toxic and desperate I was.

Her screams soon turned into cries, and Lillian stopped, breathing heavily, her eyes blazing with anger, which I knew deep down was directed at me.

Sage staggered to her feet, her white dress covered in mud and grass. Her legs were red and it had various bright pink marks on them.

She stared at me and I stared back blankly." You just stood there and watched her hit me."

I shrugged." What? I told you to leave but you didn't listen."

" You will pay for this; you'll pay tenfold!" She yelled and then ran out of the lawn in shame.

Lillian stood there for just a second and walked back into the house.

It was now time for me to face hell.

I followed her to our bedroom, my heart racing painfully. I called her but she ignored me completely.

Quietly, she picked up her phone and illuminated the screen." So there was a video all along?" She Spoke turning the screen to face me.

My heart dropped instantly.

Fuck!

This was bad.

There's no evading this; how the hell was I supposed to defend myself when, in that video, it showed Sage and me clearly having sex with her riding me?

" I bet you had a good time, right? You fucked her hard." She chuckled darkly.

My lips quivered, I did not like the expression on her face. " Lillian please, hear me out."

She snapped, her voice increasing in volume." Are you going to explain in detail how you fucked that bitch? How you cheated on me? Alright then, I'm all ears."

I took a step forward." No, I didn't. She drugged me. I  swear I would never touch another woman."

She raised a brow, her eyes turning red." Does this look like someone who was drugged?" She yelled, pointing at the screen." And worse, she's pregnant." She threw the phone at me, but I moved away just in time, and it crashed on the tiled floor behind me.

I moved forward again but she stepped back." Don't come closer."

My heart squeezed painfully in my chest, it suddenly felt like I could not breathe." Lilly, I'm ..I'm sorry."

She picked up a vase and threw it at me. It flew past my ears and crashed on the floor.

The first tear slid down her cheeks." Of all the people it had to be her?" She picked up another vase that sat on the desk and threw it at me again. I don't know if  I would be able to dodge the next one.

" Lillian no, it wasn't meant to happen." I couldn't stop my fingers from trembling." I'm sorry, it wasn't entirely my fault. She drugged me;  I couldn't help it."

At that moment, I regretted my words.

" That's your excuse, huh?" She shook her head and I saw what I feared the most in her blue orbs.

" She's pregnant! She's fucking pregnant. And you kept it a secret for how long? Maybe that's probably why you're being forced to marry her." She shook her head and my heart dropped." Thank God no one knows about my baby, and no one will."

I rushed to her immediately, but she fought me off. Clawing at my skin as she yelled, tears sliding down her cheeks.

" I'm sorry, please. I'm so sorry." I begged,  but it only made her angrier.

She dug into my skin with her nails and I didn't even realise I was already bleeding from the cut." Let go of me, you bastard ."

I didn't. I couldn't let go or she might slip out of my hold and never come back.

" I can't live with a man who impregnated another woman. " She snarled, pushing me off." She was right; I was never meant to be here in the first place."

My breath hitched and, my  eyes were beginning to feel heavy." Lilly no, We can fix this."

" Fix what? How are you going to fix this? Are you going to ask her to terminate the pregnancy? Because we both know she won't. You know what? Our contract was supposed to end anyway, so let's end it here! You can push through with the marriage to Sage since that's what your father wants. I was never  accepted by him anyway so I'll make it easier for the both of us."

My mind reeled with devastating thoughts. " God, no!" She tried to free herself from my grip but I didn't let go." Please don't do this. Don't leave me, please."

She can't leave me.

She screamed at me to let her go; the next moment, she reached out and picked up the light stand on the bedside table and sent it crashing down on my head. It broke, scattering in different directions with a crashing sound. I felt it sliced through my skin, but I barely noticed.

My grip loosened a little and I swerved. My sight turned blurry for a moment before returning back to normal.

I could smell the metallic scent of Blood, but at this point, I didn't mind.

"Lillian please." I went down on my knees before her, swallowing every bit of pride I had. At this point, I'd do anything."I couldn't tell you since because I was scared this would happen. Don't leave me, not now."

She sobbed covering her face in her palm." If she wasn't pregnant then it would have been a different story." She yelled." You expect me to forgive you and then what? Move on?"

I couldn't say a word. My chest hurts so much, it hurts like hell. My eyes were prickly like they were leaking.

" Even if I decide to stay, it'll only make things worse. Do you think your father would accept me and this baby, do you think he would pick me over Sage? You said it yourself, he still has control over you. He wouldn't stop until you wed her so there's no use!"

She wiped the tears off her face." We should have kept this business from the start. I'm sorry but I can't have this baby with you."

I swallowed hard." No, don't... please don't do this."

"You can have Sage, I'll have the divorce paper ready by tomorrow. Don't you dare look for me; don't even bother coming close to me? At least I'm saving you from rotting in jail."

  She stepped past me, and I remained still. My eyes were stinging badly and they were heavy. I felt the wetness pool down my cheeks; raising my fingers, I trailed them on my cheekbone.

It took a while for my brain to process what that meant. For the first time since I was a child, I think I was crying.

I didn't move, I couldn't turn around. I was too scared to watch her walk out of my life for good.
