~Alexa
Immediately after Dad said this, Mom got up on her feet, her face contorted with fright. She marched over to Father, her voice rising. “You can't accept this, My Lord! You can't allow our daughter to live the life of a poor woman after so many years she's been separated from us! She deserves a rich and influential life. A life she has never experienced before. That is what she deserves, not this!” Dad turned to her, giving her an understanding look. “I get where you're coming from, Cecile. But this is what Alexa wants. This is our daughter's choice, and we have no right to stop her.” I nodded, supporting his words. “You don’t have to worry about where I’ll be, Mom. I’ll be living right here with you. It’s just that no one will know I’m your daughter. No one will know I’m related to either of you.” It took Mom a few moments to process my words. But eventually, she understood. She stepped forward and gently brushed my hair away from my face. “You have to be careful, Alexa,” she said, her voice low. “Justin isn’t someone you can be easy around... that man forced you into that medical procedure, the one that ruined your life. Be cautious.” I smiled softly, my eyes locked on hers. “Yes, Ma. I will be careful with everything I do. Because I’m not just fighting for myself anymore, I’m also fighting for my lost child… the one who died because of Justin and his cheap mistress.” Mom pulled me into a tight hug and kissed my forehead. Throughout the whole scene, the other guy just stood there watching. His cold eyes, calm face, and well-built body kind of caught my attentio but I quickly pushed that thought aside. My instincts were screaming at me to be careful. “Get some rest for now, my Angel,” Mom said gently. “I’ll go get some clothes for you. Please, sleep well.” Dad gave me one last smile before they both walked out of the room. Only he remained—the guy. What was his name again? Lucas. He was standing there, right in front of me, staring like I was the key to his lottery card. I didn’t like that look. Right now, I found men to be nothing but trouble. After Justin, I swore I’d never open my heart to another man again. No matter how good-looking Lucas was, he didn’t impress me. So I ignored him completely and laid back in bed. I didn’t know if he left, and frankly, I didn’t care. But I was sure someone stayed there for a while, standing still, until I finally drifted off to sleep. I was deep in my sleep when I suddenly turned and saw someone standing near me. “Argghhh!” I screamed, bolting upright. My heart nearly exploded. For a second, I thought I was staring at a ghost. But no, it was Lucas. He stood exactly the same way he had before I fell asleep. Same clothes. Same posture. Same unreadable expression. Wait... Had he been standing there this whole time? I turned toward the wall clock. The time was 3 A.M. If I slept off before 10 P.M., then… had Lucas been standing there for almost six hours? “Here,” a voice broke my thoughts. I looked up. Lucas was holding out a glass of water. “It seemed like you just had a bad dream, Alexa. Drink some water.” I hesitated. He wasn’t smiling. His face was cold but his expression felt gentle and affectionate Eventually, I took the glass and sipped the water slowly. “Thank you,” I muttered, setting the glass on the stool beside me. Still, I didn’t speak much. I wasn’t going to warm up to him. He is handsome just like Justin and men I already categorized men like him jnder the same category— handsome and dangerous. I couldn’t trust a man like that, not anymore. Just as I lay back on the bed, Lucas gently held my hand. I froze. My breath caught in my throat, and I stared at him in disbelief. “You don’t have to be scared,” he said calmly. “I just wanted to fix your pillow. Please, be careful when lying back.” “What do you want from me, Lucas?” I asked, my voice sharper now. “You’re just Father’s worker. You should be with him, not here watching over me!” He said nothing. I sat up. “So what, you wanted me to go back to sleep so you could stand there again and watch me like a ghost? Tell me, who does that? Who stands for six hours just watching someone? Are you a machine?” Lucas adjusted the pillow, then stood tall and looked me straight in the eye. “Six hours is nothing compared to the years I spent searching for you, Alexa. Now that I’ve found you, I won’t let you leave my side again.” I squinted, confused. “What are you talking about?” “I’m Lucas Fernandez. CEO of the Fernando Group,” he said, voice calm but intense. “To explain my relationship with the Duke. I’m his godson. And I took it upon myself to find my long-lost best friend… you, Alexa.” I blinked in disbelief. “I’m here for good,” he added, his tone heavy. “I’m here to be your greatest support. You may have forgotten me… but I never forgot you. You’re still the Alexa I once knew.” He took a breath, then raised a finger. “I don’t need your permission, but I’m making my four promises to you. First—I will protect you, no matter what happens. Second—I’ll help you manage your double life, as the CEO of ABC Companies and as plain Alexa Sullivan. Third—I will help you get your revenge on Justin, his girlfriend, and everyone who ever hurt you.” I stared at him, my chest rising and falling. “And the fourth?” I asked quietly. “What’s the fourth obligation?”~AlrxaElmo’s hands hovered above his head, shaking. His eyes darted between me and the weapon. He knew the gun was real. He knew I wasn’t bluffing. It wasn’t even mine.Earlier, when I sat on the sofa, I had felt something pressing against me. While Elmo barked orders at the girls to leave, I shifted and spotted it—a gun tucked between the cushions. None of them noticed when I slipped it into my bag. Now it was my lifeline.I cocked it, aiming at his head. “You want to test me, Elmo? Or do you really want to see if I’ll pull the trigger?”“You can’t do this,” he stammered. “That’s a gun, Alexa. Not a toy.”I smirked. My finger pressed tighter on the trigger. “Exactly. It’s a gun. Which is why I’ll gladly use it to scatter your skull if you don’t do as I say.”His eyes widened. Fear. Real fear. And it thrilled me.“You’ve pushed me enough,” I hissed, stepping closer, pressing the muzzle against his forehead. “Never underestimate the power of a woman—especially Alexa Sullivan.”His thr
~AlexaElmo’s eyes burned into me, full of lust so raw it made my skin crawl. My whole body trembled, not with fear, but with rage. Every time I looked at him, it was like poison flooding my veins. He mistook my silence for weakness. His lips curled into that disgusting smirk as he trailed his fingers across my hand, moving slowly, deliberately. When his touch crept toward my shoulder, my heart pounded—not out of panic, but from the fury building inside me. And the moment his hand moved for my breast, I snapped.I swung my hand and slapped him hard across the face. The crack echoed in the room.“How dare you put your filthy hands on me? Do you have a death wish?”He staggered up from where he’d been squatting, his hand flying to his cheek. The lustful grin was gone. In its place, a glare so sharp it felt like he wanted to kill me with his eyes.He marched toward me, fury in his stride.“Did you just slap me?” His voice shook with rage.“Yes,” I said firmly, locking my gaze on his. “I
~AlexaMy car halted before the towering glass façade of G Group’s hotel. I had already tapped into my firm’s network to gather intel about the lounge where that arrogant bastard had lodged. No more guessing—tonight, I was walking straight in.Sliding on my shades, I stepped gracefully out of the car. David, my ever-loyal agent, hurried over, holding out a sleek card.“Here, ma’am!” he said, lowering his voice like he was handing me state secrets. “Just flash this card to the security, and they won’t ask questions. One look at it, and you’re in.”I plucked the card from his hand and smiled.“Thank you, David. You just saved me some trouble.”He bowed, straightening like a soldier. “I live to serve you, My Queen. I can’t afford to lose my job as your agent.”“Smart of you,” I replied smoothly. “Now, leave before anyone notices you lingering.”He bowed again and melted away into the crowd. The moment he disappeared, I wasted no time. I strode into the hotel’s luxurious lobby, marble gle
~AlexaI grabbed my bag from the chair and turned sharply to Analyn.“His address?!”She gave me a look—one that dripped with anxiety. I could tell she wanted to stop me, but she knew she had no right to. So instead, she shifted her attention to the tablet in her hand, her fingers tapping quickly before she finally looked up.“I already sent you his current address via email, Ma’am.”I gave a curt nod and started to leave, but paused. My gaze swept over the board members.“You all just stay here and wait for me. I’ll be back pretty soon. And don’t start making options while I’m away. Like I said, I’ve got this covered, so you have absolutely nothing to worry about.”They all pulled those fake smiles—the kind meant to convince me they understood—but I wasn’t a fool. I knew the moment I walked out, they’d start working on backup plans. This was a firm, after all, and they were worried about their reputation… in case they jumped ship to partner with another company later.Well, that’s th
~AlexaThe moment he said this, I responded,“Okay!”Then I hung up.The tension wasn’t only on me — my friend Zee also looked unsettled, her expression tight with suspense.“What’s the problem?” she asked, leaning closer as I scrolled through my phone, trying to access my linked streaming TV app. “What did Lucas say? Is it that serious?”I sniffed and scratched my head, still unsure.“He said I should check my phone for any news channel! I don’t know why, but…”I froze the moment the live broadcast loaded on one of the local news channels.“The CEO of G Group faces allegations after a source revealed that the Sullivan Empire has lost a $300 million property to G Group without any formal sale!”My jaw tightened as the young CEO of G Group appeared on-screen, seated confidently in front of reporters.“The CEO of ABC personally handed me the property documents,” he stated smoothly. “This shows that an agreement was made, and the 150-acre land already belongs to G Group.”I clenched my f
~AlexaThe customers shot to their feet, some already holding up their phones, eager to capture a video of my humiliation—my nakedness. The thought alone made my stomach twist. I would rather die than let that happen.Tearing my gaze away from the gawking guests, I locked eyes with Justin. His were still blazing with agitation, his fists clenched tightly around my clothes.Without another thought, I yanked my hands free from his grip and delivered a sharp, resounding slap across his face.“How dare you hold me like that? Are you insane?” I spat.Felicia gasped, her mouth falling open in shock, while Justin’s head jerked to the side from the force of the slap.I clutched my ripped clothes to my chest, trying to cover the parts of me exposed by the tear. My voice trembled with fury.“You’re no longer my husband, Justin! We’re divorced. And in this life—or the next—I will never let someone like you disgrace me in public!”Justin’s eyes darkened. He lifted his hand, ready to strike back.
