LOGINAmelia's POV.
The option he was giving sounded like moving from the frying pan to the fire.
How could I tell him that I wanted to be anywhere but close to him?
He was nothing like Raymond. He was a raw temptation, the kind that had you doing things you shouldn't be doing in the darkness.
He was also dangerous. Too dangerous.
I'd heard stories of how he punished his workers by chopping off their fingers. That kind of man was sure to chop my head off without thinking.
But then my mother…she was still lying in the hospital, fighting for her life. Was it worth it to run away from him now, knowing I'd never forgive myself if my mother died?
I inhaled sharply, like breathing was supposed to help me make a decision. I raised my head to meet his gaze, those green eyes bored into my face like he was trying to read my mind. And that sent shivers down my spine.
“Let me handle everything, and in return, stand by me in vows. The choice is yours to make,” he stated, his eyes still fixed on my face.
My mind revolved around my mother, and then around Don Mateo. My eyes closed as I mentally picked back and forth.
“Fine. I accept,” the words escaped my lips, and my eyes opened slowly.
Don Mateo gave me a very curt nod as he rounded the table, and then he pulled out documents from the big coat he was wearing.
“Sign these,” he handed them to me, and my shaky hands clutched the papers.
Anyone in my shoes would make this decision right? I mean, I couldn't let my mother die.
But at the same time, Don Mateo was my ex's father. Wasn't this forbidden? I'm pretty sure it was. However, I had no choice.
As I scribbled my signature onto the bottom left of every page, my heart pounded heavily against my chest, reminding me of the grave decision I'd taken.
“Everything will be fine, Amelia. You'll survive,” I chanted the words mentally, like a mantra meant to keep me sane.
“Here,” I stood upright, handing the documents over to him.
He took it, our fingers touching slightly. The subtle contact spreads sparks all over my palm. He withdrew his hand causally, as if he didn't feel what just happened.
Then he turned his gaze towards the door.
“Your mother will be moved to a new hospital, and I'll have seventeen doctors look after her.”
My eyes widened, shock rushing through my veins like wildfire, “Really? Thank you so much! You have no idea what this means to me.”
“ I'm simply playing my role, and I expect you'll play yours,” his voice echoed through the space, deep and laced with a price.
“What's my role?”
I mean, that was the right question right? After all, men like Don Mateo didn't do things out of sympathy. There was always a price to pay.
“Play the role of my woman to the letter. To do that, you have to move in with me.”
My heart stopped for a second the moment I heard that. It was already bad enough that I shuddered at the sight of him. Living with him? That meant living in fear for the next year.
Not to mention the fact that Raymond probably lived with him, or something.
My lips parted but no proper sentence came out.
I shook my head at the thought, “but…Raymond, what if he finds me at your house? What happens then?”
Don Mateo turned around this time, and then he moved closer to me, making the distance between us disappear.
His scent invaded my nostrils, making my insides knot with a strange feeling. His expression remained hard even as he parted his lips, “As long as you're mine, he won't be able to touch a hair on your scalp.”
My mind clung to those words like they were my lifeline. Under his gaze, I didn't realize when I nodded.
My breath hitched when he caught the grip of my hand. His big, cold hand was a contrast to my small, warm one. His touch was the last thing to make me feel things but my body was acting up.
“Let's go home,” he ordered, pulling me along with him.
The drive to Don Mateo’s place took hours, I wasn't sure. All I knew was that I stared at different trees and buildings until I fell asleep.
The door on my side opened to reveal Don Mateo at the side.
When I plopped out of the car, my jaw dropped slightly. His mansion was a perfect mix of grey and black. It looked like a building that stood the test of time.
Don Mateo led me towards the main entrance, where four scary-looking men were standing. Two armed men stood on either side of the huge door, and they bowed their heads softly as Don Mateo walked past.
When we got inside, dread slicked down my spine. Was it just me or did everything about Don Mateo scream danger?
There were many more guards located at different parts of his house. That had me wondering just how often he got attacked.
“Vale,” Don Mateo called out, making me flinch.
A tall, fierce-looking lady with a high ponytail emerged from a room. She bowed her head, clasping her hands behind her, “Yes Don?”
“Show her to her room, and see that her needs are taken care of.”
Vale nodded, and immediately walked towards me, “Please come with me.”
I followed her up the stairs, occasionally turning my back to see if Don Mateo would tag along. But he stood rooted to the ground, watching me move.
When we got to the front of a silver door, she stretched a hand, “There's your room, Madame.”
And with that, she was out of sight. I walked into the room, expecting it to be some basic room, but it turned out to be a room, tailored to my preferences.
Hell, even the clothes in the wardrobe were my exact size.
My brows furrowed, how come Don Mateo knew about my size?
Has he been stalking me?
Rosie’s POV“Rosie, do you really have to leave?” My father asked as he stood at the corner of my room watching me pack my things. “We could find some other solutions here.”“Yes, my dear… please listen to your father. We can work harder and make a good living for the baby. You don’t have to run like this… what do you want us to do without you?”My heart shattered at her words. I stopped what I was doing and took her hands. “Mother, I can assure you that there is no other way. Father, there is simply no other solution…”“But you told us they don’t know about this. What is the worst that could happen?” My father insisted.“What if they both come knocking?” I asked, already visualizing the horrific scene. “Father, I would never wish for such embarrassment for you. No, please just let me go. Once I settle down, you may even come and stay with me… I am sure we will be fine.”My mother hugged me tight, not wanting to let me go. But eventually, my father understood. He slowly pried my mothe
Amelia's POV.The ride to the hospital felt longer than it should have been. Marcus drove in silence, his eyes occasionally flicking to the rearview mirror like he was checking for threats that didn't exist.I pressed my fingers against the window, watching the city blur past. My chest felt tight with anticipation. I hadn't seen my mother in days, and the last time I did, she looked so frail, so close to slipping away. What if she looked worse? What if the Don's promises were empty? My stomach twisted at the thought, but I forced myself to breathe. He said she was responding to treatment. I had to believe that. When we finally arrived at the hospital, Marcus walked me to the entrance, his presence drawing stares from everyone around. I didn't care. All I wanted was to see my mother. The receptionist looked up as I approached, and before I could say anything, she smiled."Miss Earhart, your mother is in room 304. Third floor," she said warmly.I blinked, surprised she already knew my n
[Rosie's POV]I hadn't come out, but being locked in my room after my arrival, I recalled that knock that came in.I should have taken it seriously but I guess I was too busy planning a way to see my kids.Lying on the bed and facing the ceiling, my hands hold up the letter that was left with that knock.I recall that I didn't find anyone at the door, but just a letter that was left for me by my door. Now, my life was dwindling into it, as it's the first thing I found on my bed after Damien dropped me here."I know your secret" it reads."You can hide him, but not for too long," it continues, and then, after much contemplation, I smack my mouth.I guess the person is confused because there are two "him" in the picture. My two boys and not just one?I tossed the letter aside, uninterested in what it meant as I just wanted to be with my boys.I haven't seen Damien either, I guess it's well, I don't know but he's mea
Harry's POV]Their sober look only proves that she's gone. That feeling of her abandoning them again.Aria heaves from where she stood handing the boys over to me like they're my responsibility. They ran towards me, cowering themselves around me and I swallowed.I rubbed their hair smoothly while my gaze drifted back to Aria who stood poised to her door frame, like one who needed an explanation."Hey boys, go sit in the car" I whispered, handing over the key to Chris who pulled Colton from his embrace and dragged him mildly to the car.Aria was still there, in that position with a frown on her face and my feet drew closer."Did she tell you where she's off to?""Her lover came picking her up," she replied, looking quite tired.I sighed, taking out a card from my pocket and shoving it to her face. That will settle it, for the boys must have put her through. Her face was still twisted as she snatched it away from me
[Rosie's POV]"That talk sure doesn't look friendly, it's like he's stressing you" Colton said letting out a soft sigh and I fussed."Where are we going? Is the house under siege too because of the guy who is sick in the head?""Chris! That's no way to talk about him, you saw what happened earlier, we were attacked and the mansion is not safe yet" I explained, trying not to raise my voice as every one of his questions leaves me hanging."Look mom, he's driving past us...now he's beside us!!!" Colton suddenly reported as he leaned to the window, smiling and knocking on the window.I thinned my lips, as I steadied my drive, letting out a soft pant."I want to be a biker mom, I want to ride through the highs and lows" he pressed on but Chris pouted his lips."Has he become our personal security? Because it looks like you hired him" he mutters locking eyes with me through the rear mirror but I didn't give him a reply.I could see Damien waving at me and Colton waving back even though Dami
[Harry's POV]I said nothing as her smile only radiates and leaves me jinxed. I'd want to hold her, if she'd let me.I almost pulled her for an embrace but this happy night would fade away soon if she knew who I was."So how are you doing today, boy?" She asked in a flirty tone, dumping the teddy bears in my hand."Well, happier than ever, now that you're here" I replied, hugging the bears and she pats my shoulder softly."Do you mind me asking how you got out?" I said in a brief smile as my eyes grazed her."Well, let's say I teleported," she said casually, forcing a laugh from me."I want to have that super power of yours"Saying that might seem flirtatious but I meant it in every way.She chuckled and then shook her head before attending to the boys who were leaping all over her."Oh look at you guys" she teases them, grabbing their wrists and flailing their hands. She was walking ahead of me now, with them as they were discussing, while I steadied my steps. My eyes roamed all over
