I truly despised going to Davide's yearly gala. It was filled with contemptible people, many of whom I didn’t respect in the slightest. However, I knew I had to be there this time since I couldn't come up with a valid excuse. I had never seen Luca show up, not even once.

Fucking lucky.

Davide was a tall guy, towering at six feet four inches. His warm brown skin was adorned with trashy tattoos. We’ve been friends for a long time, and I would trust him with my life, which is not something I often say about someone who isn’t family.

I shot Davide a glare, which only encouraged him further. "So that means you're in! " he laughed, taking another big sip of champagne.

I didn’t dare speak because I feared what might come out of my mouth. Sometimes, I can't control my words and often end up offending others. But I didn’t care, they can fuck off.
