Isabella lay on her side, staring at the city lights through the floor-to-ceiling windows, acutely aware of every sound Dante made behind her. The rustle of sheets. His steady breathing. The subtle shift of weight on the mattress.

They were in the same bed. Actually in the same bed. With only about two feet of expensive Egyptian cotton between them.

Her heart wouldn't stop racing.

"You're not going to sleep like that," Dante said, his voice cutting through the darkness.
