Chapter Nineteen

Rori felt the cold prick of The Hex’s nails against each of her temples and she inhaled sharply but did not move. She felt the almost sickening pump of calm rush through her, and she sighed almost sleepily. Rori felt a sharp pain pulse through her brain, then another followed by a a burst of color. The pain kept going first in long-drawn-out pulses then in shorter waves, each time more colors would burst and mold. As they moved, they began to form shapes and sounds, and soon Rori could make out people speaking.

The shapes morphed into that of Rori’s Mother first, then another figure she really didn't recognize. He was yelling at Alma and Rori’s mom was standing with her head down and her back against a wall crying. The man began to punch the wall next to her before grabbing her wrist and twisting it until she cried out in pain. Rori groaned at the memory, “how coul
