Killian walked back and forth in his big office. He held his phone tight to his ear. His heart beat fast with worry and hope.

"Calla, my love," he said into the phone. "Are you really sure about this? It seems too... easy. Too fast."

On the other end, Calla's voice came through clear and strong. It was calm and sure, like always. "You have to trust me, Killian. I told you, she has no other choice. She has no more moves to make. She will come to you. She will be there very soon."

"But what if she—" Killian started to say.

Just then, his office door opened without a sound. There she was. Vanessa. She stood in the doorway, not moving. Her back was straight. Her face showed no anger, only tired acceptance. She looked like a different woman from the one who had screamed at him before.

Killian could not believe his eyes. He stared at her, the phone still pressed to his ear. "Calla..." he whispered. "She's here. Right now."
