Chapter 2

Author: Tranquil Moon
Jeremy prematurely ended the yacht party and forced us to apologize to Bailey.

I opened the car door of the front passenger seat and saw a white lacey bra on the car seat.

It was not mine.

Jeremy simply took the bra and tossed it aside, but it revealed the white liquid beneath.

I felt betrayed, and I could not stop my nausea as I bent down and dry heaved.

Jeremy walked over and patted my back. “The front passenger seat is a little dirty. Would you like to sit in the back?”

He seemed to forget that I would get car sick if I sat in the back.

Hence, the front passenger seat of his car was usually for me.

Bailey was at the bar. She worked part-time as a hostess.

Jeremy had asked her to stop working since he was already taking care of her.

However, Bailey was stubborn. She insisted that she did not want to be a sugar baby.

It made Jeremy feel even sorrier and fall deeper for her.

The neon lights in the bar blurred my vision. Suddenly, a fat hand extended over.

“Hey, come and have a drink with me.”

The overweight man dragged me toward the washroom.

Just as I was about to be dragged into the washroom, Jeremy, who was focused on finding Bailey, finally realized what was happening to me.

His eyes were bloodshot as he punched the pervert. He did not stop until the pervert was covered in blood.

Jeremy then hugged me with his trembling hands. “Don’t worry, I’m here. It’s fine now.”

I grabbed his arms, and it was as if I had been transported back in time to that rainy night seven years ago.

Back then, he had also hugged me and said, “Don’t worry, I’m here.”

When Jeremy found Bailey, she was promoting alcohol to some customers.

The customer was only willing to purchase alcohol from her if she finished the entire bottle.

She was on the verge of tears.

Jeremy wanted to ask her to stop. He pushed me forward the next second.

“What about this girl? She can drink on her behalf.”

The customer saw that I was prettier than Bailey, so he agreed.

Bailey immediately shook her head. “No, Jeremy. This is my job.”

Jeremy patted the back of her head. “Be good, let me handle this.”

I quietly begged him, “My health doesn’t allow me to drink.”

Jeremy, who was gentle just a moment ago, suddenly became annoyed.

“I’ve never heard of someone dying from drinking before. Besides, Bailey is going to donate her kidney to you, so why can’t you help her drink some alcohol?”

“What if I say no?”

“If you continue being stubborn, I’ll call off the kidney transplant surgery.”

Jeremy sounded calm, but I found it ridiculous.

He had spent so much effort in getting me a healthy kidney, only to become his leverage to threaten me.

“Just drink it! You won’t die.”

I looked into his cold gaze. Then, I suddenly recalled when I was still in school, I had been really unhealthy. Jeremy did not allow me to drink even a single drop of alcohol.

A classmate once kept asking me to drink during a birthday party, but Jeremy stopped him.

He drank on my behalf, and then he violently threw up. Even then, he was still comforting me.

“I’ll be sad if you feel unwell.”

He once said, “When we get married, I’ll drink on your behalf when our guests toast us.”

I no longer believed in such a future.

I could not help but admit that Jeremy had fallen for Bailey.

I glanced at Jeremy, who was protecting Bailey fiercely, for one last time.

The man who once loved me more than his life was threatening me over another woman.

At that moment, I reached the point of acceptance.

I picked up the bottle of wine and drank the whole bottle.

I kept going until I tasted blood and lost consciousness.

After hearing that Xander and I were about to get married, she sent her best wishes. She also apologized for hurting me through Jeremy. She had also found a person who truly loved her. While everything went well for us, Jeremy suffered a stroke. After he left the police station, he drank furiously for many days. Two days prior, after a late-night binge-drinking session, he suffered an aneurysm. He had become paralyzed. He said he would no longer harass me, and that he just wanted to see me one last time. Finally, I went to the hospital to see him. Xander stood by my side. Jeremy was lying on the bed, and it was hard for him to even speak. I looked at the haggard man before me and recalled the hope and strength he had once given me when I first met him. That lifeline became a string of hurt. We no longer owed each other anything. Jeremy asked his caretaker to walk forward. After a long while, his caretaker stood up and said, “Ms. Anderson, Mr. Goodman wishes

The journey was bumpy. I did not even know when the car stopped. When I got out of the car, I was shocked by the scene before me. It was a lakeside mansion on the outskirts of town. Next to the lake was a wedding venue. In the van, they had forcefully changed me into a wedding gown. It was a bespoke veil that I had wanted a long time ago. Music started, and Jeremy walked out from behind the flowers. I finally realized what was happening. I even thought that the two men had discussed this beforehand. “Charlotte, I swear I won’t do anything that will upset you anymore. “I’ve misunderstood you because of Bailey, and I only found out the truth later. I’m sorry.“Please don’t be angry at me anymore. I’ve prepared a surprise that you’ve wanted for a long time. Do you like it?” I took off the veil and threw the bouquet of flowers onto the ground. “Jeremy, you’re crazy! I’m not rejecting you because I’m mad at you. I won’t give you any more chances either. “I don’t care

“No matter what, we’ve already spent so many years together. I’ve come to view you as my wife. “I don’t believe that I’m less important than him to you.” I shook my head. “I won’t go back with you, Jeremy. I don’t care who you think is your wife, I have nothing to do with you anymore.”“Why? Is it because I didn’t propose to you yesterday?“You obviously know it’s not real between Bailey and I. I’ll eventually go back to you.”Jeremy grew agitated and wanted to grab my hand. Xander immediately stood closer to me and stopped Jeremy. “This is my private rehabilitation center. If you dare to do anything, I’ll call security. I won’t be so patient next time, Mr. Goodman.” Jeremy was enraged by Xander’s warning. His eyes became bloodshot. I took a deep breath and patiently explained the situation to Jeremy. “Even if I turned a blind eye to your tryst with Bailey, it’s over between us. Jeremy, I’ve waited long enough. “I’m done with you still playing the field. “I’m done

After I came out of the washroom and passed by the reception area, I overheard two nurses chatting. “I heard Dr. White rejected the overseas hospital’s offer and insisted on returning home. I don’t know what he’s thinking.”“I heard that he came back to look for someone. Could it be his ex-girlfriend?”“Who knows? But Dr. White has been more active in making his rounds, especially that last ward at the end of the corridor.” They were chatting enthusiastically when Xander, who had been upset the day before, appeared. He ignored the nurses’ curious gazes and dragged me back to my ward with a stoic expression. He also held a thick needle. I hid under my blanket and trembled. “I may have hurt you in the past, but you can’t betray your Hippocratic oath.” He realized that I had misunderstood him. He put the needle away and sat down on the edge of my bed. “I spent the entire night just thinking. Since we’re both unmarried, why can’t we just let go of the past and start again?”

Bailey’s arrival broke the awkward tension between Xander White and myself. “He gave up on me. You win. Just tell me when the surgery’s taking place.” When we were on the yacht, Bailey knew that Jeremy’s feelings had not been genuine after overhearing the bet. She was poor, but she was a prideful person. She could not stand any betrayal in her relationships.Hence, she made a bet with me too. We made a bet on Jeremy’s final choice. If she won, I would have to give her five million dollars and send her overseas so she could get away from her parasitic family. If I won, she would voluntarily donate one of her kidneys to me. It was very fair. But none of us had ended up winning. I knew Jeremy would always return to me after playing the field. However, even though he chose me, I had lost my feelings for him over time. Bailey was just an opportunity for me to wake up from my dreams. “The surgery will be in two days’ time. After all, I can’t find a more suited donor th

The next day, Jeremy woke up with a hangover. There were a dozen missed calls on his phone. All of them were from the hospital. At that moment, he found out that I had not gone home last night, nor had I gone to the hospital. He tried calling me many times, but he could not get through at all. For some reason, he had been blocked. When he walked to the bathroom, he found Bailey inside. Jeremy was a little puzzled. “Why are you still here? Isn’t it the day of the kidney transplant?”Bailey wrapped her arms around his waist. “I don’t want to go, I’m really scared.“Besides, even if she’s gone, you’d still have me.” After hearing that, Jeremy suddenly pried Bailey’s hands away. He said stoically, “Even though I treat you well, Charlotte’s my only rightful future wife. You’re the cure that I found for her.“Remember, don’t even think about replacing her spot. After the surgery is done, you can leave with the money.”Jeremy opened the door and was about to leave. Bailey
