Chapter 324

Author: Hugh White
Hayley rolled her eyes.

"Put me down." Jim's eyes were bloodshot as he weakly patted Todd, who was still standing there in a daze.

Only then did Todd carefully lower him to the floor.

"Jim, are you willing to join my squad and work under me?" Hayley asked.

She had observed Jim throughout this journey.

In this world, even among leaders, plenty of people were painfully average.

They had good morals and decent personal ability, but they simply didn't have what it took to lead a team. They played the nice guy, smoothing things over and trying to keep everyone happy. In the end, they satisfied no one and dragged the entire team toward collapse.

After seeing Sophie betray them, Hayley could more or less understand why Jim had become a lone wolf in her previous life.

  • The Endgame Chronicles   Chapter 352

The fruit tea was filled with watermelon, strawberries, lemon, and passion fruit. The watermelon was grown right inside their base. The strawberries were freeze-dried. The lemon was sliced, and the passion fruit came from jars of passion fruit jam they had collected while recapturing cities.Ruby mixed the fruits with black tea leaves they had found earlier and topped off with ice cubes from the freezer, making a huge cup of tangy, icy fruit tea. One sip in, and Hayley felt relaxed from head to toe.Especially since this was the apocalypse. The smaller bases under Haylight League didn't worry about food anymore, but none of them were living like Hayley. Most people were still stuck at the level of just eating enough, maybe eating a little better than before. They had meat and vegetables, and they didn't go hungry anymore. But who, in the middle of the apocalypse, could casually enjoy a jumbo cup of iced fruit tea?Bases that hadn't joined Haylight League were even worse off. Many

  • The Endgame Chronicles   Chapter 351

Hayley rested in her shelter for two full days.During those two days, Ruby took care of her like a student home on vacation.Every day, there was peeled fruit, bowls of sliced watermelon, shelled nuts, and snacks fed straight to her, as well as roasted chicken wings, beef stew, mashed potatoes, muffins, freshly baked bread, and iced fruit tea…She would be eating from the moment she woke up.The way Ruby kept asking Hayley what she needed made Hayley feel as if she had gone back to years ago, when Cynthia had taken care of her down to the smallest detail.Cynthia had been a gentle, traditional woman who adored Hayley. Hayley never had to do housework. Every day, Cynthia found new ways to make her favorite foods. With Bernard away and only one daughter, Cynthia doted on Hayley as if she were the center of the world.Ruby's personality was different from Cynthia's, but when it came to loving Hayley, the two were exactly the same.Ever since meeting Ruby in this life, Hayley felt

Hayley returned to her base with Leonard, Griffin, Thomas, the woman, and the children."What's your name?" she finally asked."My name's Sienna," the woman replied. Thinking about Sienna's gift, Hayley asked, "Would you be willing to work for me?"Sienna's gift was extremely special, but Hayley wasn't sure whether, given Sienna's mental condition, she could fully replicate that gift for herself.Sienna looked up at her."If you work for me, I'll give you points every month. You can use those points to take care of your kids.""Okay! I'll do it!" Sienna nodded repeatedly. As soon as she said that, a voice sounded in Hayley's mind.Ding! [Base guard +1 detected!]Ding! [Reward: Combat suit +1, and 1,000 points! Special attribute copied!]Ding! [Special pathological restriction detected. Core attribute extracted. Host's mental energy increased threefold!]Special pathological restriction?Hayley felt her depleted mental energy suddenly surge back to life. Her detection rang

The woman Hayley had dragged along saw her father fall to the ground and disappear from sight. As if something finally clicked for her, she stopped struggling completely and ran quietly behind Hayley, not saying a word. They fought their way through the zombie horde and finally broke free of its range.Ahead of them stood a line of men, fully armed and ready. When Leonard and the others saw Hayley coming back, they rushed forward to cover them, cutting down the remaining zombies.Everyone got back into the vehicles. The moment they climbed in, a thunderous boom echoed behind them. From the direction of the hospital came a massive explosion. Under a large-scale targeted blast, several hospital buildings collapsed one after another. The zombies that had been drawn there were all pulled back by the sound, surging toward the hospital. The pressure on their side instantly disappeared. The woman stared blankly toward the hospital. She didn't say a word as silent tears streamed down

Griffin's voice rang in Hayley's ear. "It's the Zombie King of this area. It's calling in the surrounding zombies."As soon as Griffin finished speaking, the Zombie King charged straight at Hayley."Run!"Hayley sprinted at full speed. As she ran, the ventilation ducts overhead kept crashing down one after another. Behind her, the mutated zombie ran wildly along the fallen pipes the entire time. What surprised Hayley was that even at this speed, the woman didn't fall behind at all. She stayed right on Hayley's heels, never more than half a step away. The number of zombies around them kept growing.Just as they were about to be completely surrounded, the woman behind Hayley suddenly shouted, "Dad!"Hayley carved a bloody path forward and saw, among the oncoming wave of zombies, a short, skinny old man wearing jeans, a black short-sleeved T-shirt, and a construction helmet. He was maybe five-foot-six.A name tag hung on his chest. Patrick Sanders."Dad! Dad!"The moment she

  • The Endgame Chronicles   Chapter 347

Hayley gripped the rope and kicked off the wall, dropping fast.As she passed the second floor, she saw that the massive glass windows were packed with zombies. There were doctors in white coats, nurses in scrubs, patients in hospital gowns, and family members in everyday clothes. She saw nothing but zombies, wall to wall.Above her, zombies poured down like a flood.Hayley controlled her speed, running sideways along the wall like a special ops soldier. Just as she was about to land safely, the rope in her hands suddenly jerked downward hard. With a deafening crash, most of the ventilation duct above her ripped free from inside. The last six feet turned into a free fall.At that exact moment, someone rushed forward. With people tied both in front of her and on her back, Hayley twisted sideways and slammed straight into Griffin's arms.Crack!Hayley heard the sound of bones breaking.Griffin dropped to both knees, somehow catching all of them."You're back!" The woman recogn
