Mariana
But the days went by and the hell in jail continues and is getting worse each hour for me.
I cleaned the cell of Genevieve, my tormentor day and night. I gave her all my food and did all her assigned tasks in the prison.
I became her dirt bag, her punching bag that accepts all her kicks, punches, and bites. My face and whole body are peppered with green and violet bruises.
“Do not forget what you have done to the poor pretty luna. Remember how you killed her with your silver bullet,” she whispered in my ear while twisting my wrist slowly.
Wincing in pain, I let my tears fall and nodded. I can endure it all for Evan.
Genevieve’s cold eyes stared right into mine. “Whoever you are waiting for is not going to come. Everyone has abandoned you, Mariana Rose.”
Biting off my lip to stifle a cry, I bowed my head to hide the hope in my eyes. She is wrong. My husband is going to save me from this place.
I cannot sleep anymore due to physical, mental, and emotional torture. I lost several pounds in just a matter of days.
Every night, I forced myself to sleep on the floor because she destroyed my bed.
“I am so scared,” I kept saying while shivering under my thin blanket. “Evan, please come to me now.”
But weeks passed and no one came to rescue me.
“I told you to lick my plate clean, didn’t I? Why do I still see a grain here?!”
The inmates around the table laughed and I jerked in fear as I took her plate to lick the remaining corn.
“I’m sorry, I will lick it again.”
She just snatched it back and hit my head with it.
“You are really a hard headed woman, Mariana. No wonder why your mother left and died before she saw you. I will kill myself too if I know my daughter is going to be a murderer.”
The laughter and the chatter grew while I just stood there in shame. Never in my whole life have I been subjected to this kind of humiliation. I was raised with honor and kindness by my stepfather only for it to be completely heavily smeared by my own doing.
“I-I’m sorry…”
She spat on me, her thick green phlegm splattering all over my face.
“Now, clean my fucking toilet without any speck of dirt if you don’t want me to rub your face on my ass!”
Laughter erupted around us but all I could do was say yes and proceeded to go to her cell to start cleaning.
I scrubbed the stains off her toilet bowl like there’s no tomorrow while crying myself out begging silently for this to be all over.
Suddenly, a pair of hands grabbed my waist and squeezed it lustfully.
Jumping in surprise, I turned my back to see a nasty grizzled face of an old man, with yellowing teeth grinning from ear to ear, his eyes busy roaming around my body.
“Are you done here? My friend Jake here begs me to borrow you for a bit,” Genevieve from behind said like she’s just telling me to clean her cell again.
My heart thumped and my throat ran dry of moisture as I hugged myself. “W-What… what do you mean?”
She grinned at me, her eyes full of mischief.
“Come on. Don’t be a fucking shy woman. Jake wants to fuck you so you should say yes. I already gave him my permission.”
“Oh, yes, baby. You look so fresh and untouched that I bet you are still a virgin. I am such a lucky man to be the first to bore a hole out of you,” he said while pulling down his pants.
Gasping, I bolted out between them to escape but Genevieve was able to grab my hair and pulled me back.
“Please,” I begged, whimpering in desperation. “Please, you are still a woman too. Please, don’t do this to me.”
But she only grew her claws and scratched my face, the burning sensation seething through my sensitive skin.
Seizing my arm tightly, she threw me back to Jake who caught my waist and rubbed his hardness on my back. I felt disgusted all over. Even Evan was not able to do this to me because he respects me so much.
“All you have is a pretty face and a body to fuck so why don’t you just let the man fuck you? It’ll save you both time.”
I fought back disgusted by the contact but without the strength of my wolf, I am just an ordinary human.
“Mariana Rose! Time for visitors! Proceed to the lounge!” shouted the officer from the cell who did not seem to mind what was going inside.
Jake let go of my hands and sighed in disappointment. “Fuck!” I heard him say before I was able to run away not caring that I bumped into Genevieve who’s obviously pissed.
I am saved for now but I know they will come back later.
With my flesh still trembling, I managed to fix my hair and expression for Evan. I know he is my visitor.
But he is not the one I saw on the chair but Amy, my cousin and best friend.
“Mariana! Goodness, what happened to you?!”
She hugged me gently, tears stung her eyes as she surveyed my appearance in silent shock. “What the hell did they do to you?!”
I forced a smile and hid the black bruises on my face using my hair. “It’s only normal, Amy. I kind of expected it.”
I looked over her shoulders expecting to see my husband.
“Where is Evan? Why is he not with you? I called him last week and he promised to visit me now.”
Amy just sat back down, the look on her face is a mix of solemnity and anger.
My heart started beating wildly at her speechlessness.
“Amy, where is Evan? Why is he not coming to visit me? It’s been weeks since I came here. Why is he not coming over?” I bit my lower lip when negative things began swirling in my head. “Did something happen to him? Is he fine? Did Margot’s family harass him?”
She did not reply again so I gathered my thoughts to stop myself from panicking knowing that something had gone awry.
“I cannot take the torture they subjected me here. Please tell Evan to take me away from here as fast as possible. I am begging you. He promised me that.”
I took in a breath and changed the topic deliberately ignoring the situation. “How’s father? Is he drinking his medicine? Is he eating fine?”
Amy burst into tears as she clutched my hand.
“Mariana…” my name came out of her mouth a little too painful.
Alarm hit all of my nerves that I cannot help but raise my voice in worry “Why are you crying? Did something happen to dad?! Please tell me, Amy!””
But she just slowly placed an envelope in my hand. “I’m sorry, Mariana,” she uttered while crying. “I’m so sorry.”
With shaking hands, I tore open the envelope revealing the death certificate inside that belonged to my one and only father.
Gasping hard, I stood up with my head empty, my face started burning in tears.
“Amy, I have to get out of here now! I want to see my father for the last time! Tell Evan to take me out from here, please.”
She took out a crumpled paper from her pocket and put it on top of the envelope. “Evan gave this to me myself.”
I don’t have to read it myself to know what it is. Given the sweet scent and the lovely design, I already know that it’s a wedding invitation.
My tears cascaded down and my throat constricted. I kept shaking my head rejecting the idea that she’s telling me.
“No, that is not true. That is fake! He promised to take me out of here, Amy. I am his mate and wife. He… he vowed in front of my mother’s grave that he will protect me!”
Choking on my own tears, I grabbed the paper and read Evan’s name on top.
“N-No… this is not happening! He can’t betray me like this, Amy! I am innocent! I am his wife! He promised me! How could he do this to his own wife and mate!”
I tore the paper into pieces and clutched my head in chaos, my whole body rejecting all of this.
This is just all lies! This is not happening! Evan did not betray me!
“I’m sorry but he is getting married to the princess of the NightBlood pack, Mariana,” Amy uttered softly, careful to break my already broken heart.
With empty and confused eyes, I met her sad gaze sending my heart further down the drain. “What do you mean, Amy? What do you mean Evan is going to get married to another woman when he is my husband and I am his wife?! He married me under the oath before a priestess! Our wedding is legit! He marked me!”
Other prisoners and their visitors are already looking my way but I do not care an inch because of the rise of my trembling voice. Even the guards are eyeing me already.
“He did not register your wedding in front of the council so the ceremony is moot.”
Defeated, I slowly crumbled back into the seat.
“I’m sorry, Mariana I’m sorry that I could be nothing to you but just a bearer of bad news.”
The guards walked up to me and hoisted me up harshly. “Time’s up. Visit’s over!”
My best friend took my hand desperately with tears spilling down her eyes.
“Evan also took your father’s pack under his rule to consolidate power,” she said in a hurry. “He claimed your spot, Mariana! And now we don’t have a place to go to anymore so we are forced to follow him.”
My whole body froze with betrayal, disbelief, and emptiness but I could no longer say any word.
My whole system is stuck with denial. I can’t believe Evan would do that to me and to my pack. He can’t do that to me because he loves me too much.
“Come on you bitch!” the guard electrocuted me and slung me into his shoulder back into my cell.
Clenching my jaws, I could only stare at the tiny window in my hell.
That night, I was subjected into another grueling torture by Genevieve. She strapped me with silver into the bed and dripped molten wax on my skin.
The pain is excruciating, making me grit my teeth as tears flow uncontrollably from my eyes.
But this time, I did not fight anymore. The hope in my eyes is slowly dying just like how my body is painfully deteriorating.
My father is dead and Evan turned his back on me. I will forever rot here. I have no pack to go back to.
I lost everything. I am now nothing.
Mariana RoseThe air thickened as Rozen closed the door behind his back using his feet and walked towards me. His eyes were focused on me for any shift of emotion.“Why did you do it? Why did you burn his house?”He stopped in front of me and toyed at the flash drive using his fingers.“Tell me, Glenda. What is your real reason for marrying Victor?”I gulped as my eyes roamed around for any possible exit. There was none. I could not just rush out of here without awakening Rozen’s suspicions again.“I burned Evan’s house because of you,” I blurted out of the blue. “I wanted to get even.”Rozen shoved his hands onto his pockets, his brows furrowed and his lips thinning out. “Get even?”“Yes. I wanted to get even because I hated him so much. He married your mate. He is the reason why you are howling every night in that field begging the moon goddess to bring back Iris into your arms. I cannot bear to see you always in pain.”I sighed inwardly when I was finished concocting the best lie e
Mariana RoseI felt Victor’s arms enveloped me from behind. Biting down my lips in disgust, I let a few seconds pass before I pushed him away and walked nearer to the window. He looked rejected and embarrassed when I threw him a look.“I’m sorry that I overlooked it, Glenda. Please forgive me. Evan is my best friend and I don’t really have an idea why this is all happening. He’s a good guy.”I sighed. I know it will be a taxing task to turn him against his own best friend but I never thought Victor would be this loyal to Evan.“I want to go home for now.”His face changed. His brows furrowed and I can imagine the word ‘no’ plastered all over his face.“You can’t. Glenda, we cannot just let this misunderstanding get into us.” He took my hands and held them tightly. “We just got married a few weeks ago.”I pulled my hands away and acted deep in sadness and worry.“I just want to talk to my brothers. I miss them. I want to see them. It’s my first time since I was back that I did not get
Mariana Rose“Damn it!” Victor jumped out of the bed and out of the room to confront the elders in the living room headed by Evan himself who smug at me when he saw me at Victor’s back.Seeing his best friend leading the complaint, a betrayal crossed all over his face.“Evan! What is the meaning of all this? Why are you doing this?”“Alpha Victor, Alpha Evan submitted the evidence to the wolf council accusing the luna of burning his whole estate,” an elder answered for him.“Alpha Victor, we are demanding you to divorce Glenda right now before the council reaches for the decision! This would be the most embarrassing for the pack!” said another one and bent his knee before the alpha.Evan Hugh filed a complaint against me?! Would I go back to prison now?“Alpha Victor, we warned you already of this! Marrying a Ricks would only bring nothing but danger to our pack!”“Divorce the luna, Alpha!” they chanted while pointing at me.“Divorce the luna!”“Quiet!” Victor blocked my view so I won
Mariana RoseI left my room ready to go back to the mansion. Victor is out into a business with most of the lycans in his pack and I did not come along because I am still in pain from keeping my mate bond with Rozen. This would be the best time to go home for a while.“Luna Phillips, where are you going?”I turned around, forcing myself not to roll my eyes when the head maid Robbie called me. She volunteered herself to be my aid and attendant in front of Victor. At the get go, she seemed nice but my experience at the jail taught me never to let my guard down.Sure enough, my guess was tested and I learned who she really is. She’s nagging as if she outranks me. She bosses me around and decides for me and incites the other maids to talk behind my back.“To my house,” I answered briefly. “I just need to get something from there.”But what she did annoyed the shit out of me. She grabbed my hand and forced me back to the room and blocked the door with her body. “You can tell us what you ne
Mariana RoseI can’t explain my feelings while on the way to Alpha Victor’s mansion for the celebration. My hands are sweating cold, my wolf is in immeasurable pain, and my heart is being ripped into pieces. The wedding ceremony in front of the moon goddess sealing me with another man other than my own mate causes my heart rate to slow down.Noticing my silence, Victor moved to hold my hand but I quickly hid it away. He sighed but did not pursue it anymore.“I know this is just a marriage of convenience for the two packs but I want this to work, Glenda. I want us to work.”I cleared the lump in my throat. “Me too. I want us to work but can you not hurry me up? I mean you know that…”Chuckling, he jokingly elbowed my arm. “I properly understand what you mean. I respect you. Always. You are my friend, Glenda.”I smiled back but was instantly turned into a grimace when I heard the loudest thud on the rear end of the car followed by a deafening growl.I jumped hard and saw first the golde
Mariana RoseI spent the whole night ruminating what to do next while the whole mansion is in chaos celebrating the alpha who has risen back to life. The doctors rushed in confirming that his vital signs are back and running and anytime from now, he will open his eyes.“What should I do now?” I repeatedly asked myself while pacing back and forth nervously. “Once he wakes up and sees me, he will sense our bond. That can’t happen as early as now! I have to disrupt it! I have to make sure he doesn’t know that I am his second mate, too.”With that in mind, I glanced at my phone where ten missed calls from Victor are lodged. This wedding is definitely not going to get delayed again.I ran out of my room and hurriedly barged into Jezebel’s office where Justin and Drake are present talking about something. They all looked at me, with surprise on their faces.“Glenda, why the hell are you barging in here without knocking?!”I did not have time to indulge her and bent my knees before her.“Mot
