“The surgery was difficult, Sir. But your babies are safe.”

Xavier fell silent. For a moment, the world seemed to stop. The doctor’s voice echoed in his ears, but his mind clung to one word—safe.

“Our babies are safe?”

The doctor nodded slowly. “Both were born with healthy weights for thirty-three weeks of gestation. We’ve already moved them to the perinatology unit for intensive care.”

“And Liora? What about my wife?”

The doctor’s gaze softened. He lowered his eyes for a moment before replying, “We tried everything to stop the bleeding. The anesthesia and surgical teams did their best to stabilize her blood pressure. But she lost too much blood after the operation was over. She hasn’t regained consciousness.”

Xavier’s heart sank. “What do you mean?”

“Liora is alive, but she’s in a coma. We can’t predict when she’ll wake up. Her condition is stable for now, but she’s very weak. We’ll continue monitoring her in the obstetric ICU.”

Xavier looked at the doctor with reddened eyes. “I want

Liora was still lying in a coma. The sound of the heart monitor echoed softly yet steadily the rhythmic beat serving as the only reminder for Xavier that his wife was still alive, still fighting somewhere between consciousness and oblivion.Three days had passed since the emergency surgery. Three long days where Xavier had barely left the room, sitting in the same chair, his face weary, his eyes bloodshot. He had even refused Max’s suggestion to go home for a short rest.Max entered, carrying a small suitcase. “Sir, I went back home to fetch some clothes and a few important documents. I also tidied up the master bedroom as you requested.”“Thank you, Max,” Xavier replied quietly.“There’s one more thing. While I was cleaning the dressing table, I found this.” He held out a small, slightly worn notebook. “I thought you might want to see it.”Xavier stared at the object for a long moment before finally taking it. His hand trembled slightly when he saw the name engraved in the corner of

In the master bedroom, Liora sat at the edge of the bed, one hand rubbing her swollen belly, now tighter than usual. Her breathing had grown uneven, and every so often, she winced at the sharp pain striking without warning."Strange, why does it feel different this time?" she murmured, trying to steady her breath.Just that afternoon, the doctor had said her babies still had a few more weeks before their due date. But now, every pulse in her abdomen grew stronger, more urgent. Then suddenly, a warm sensation spread between her thighs. Liora looked down and her eyes widened as clear fluid mixed with red trickled rapidly onto the floor.“No! No, it can’t be. It’s not time yet!”Her hands trembled. She tried to stand, but another wave of pain hit stronger this time forcing her body to hunch over as her knees buckled. Her breathing came in gasps. She reached for the bedside table to support herself, but her body felt too heavy, her belly pulling downward as if something inside was tearing

That morning, sunlight slipped softly through the curtains. Yet to Liora, the light felt cold. On her lap, a tablet glowed with headlines scattered across finance and gossip portals:“Emergency Meeting at Wrenford Group: Xavier Wrenford Officially Dismissed, Damien Wrenford Appointed as the New CEO.”“Shocking Decision: Xavier Wrenford Ousted by His Own Family!”“Internal Source Says: Wrenford’s Downturn Began After Xavier’s Marriage to a Woman Named Liora Wrenford.”Liora stared at the screen for a long time, her eyes widening, her breath heavy. Her fingers trembled as she scrolled down, reading public comments filled with sharp words.“She really is bad luck.”“Ever since he married his own secretary, Wrenford has been crumbling.”“What kind of wife is that shameless, only bringing disaster.”“Xavier could do so much better. Arielle is obviously a better fit for him.”Arielle. The name struck Liora’s heart like a blow. She stared at the screen, eyes widening further as she found a r

The black luxury car was already waiting, yet Xavier still hadn’t stepped inside. Max stood beside him, waiting for instructions, but not a single word came out of Xavier’s mouth. The man simply stared blankly at the road ahead.“Sir, what about the meeting Damien held? I can arrange a countermeeting right away. If we don’t act quickly, they’ll only grow bolder,” said Max.Xavier finally turned, his gaze sharp yet calm. “Max.”“Yes, Sir?”“I don’t care.”Max blinked, slightly taken aback by the response. “You don’t care?”Xavier drew a deep breath, his eyes drifting toward the hospital window where Liora was still being treated.“Liora just went through a night that nearly drove me insane. Our twins were almost in danger. Do you think I’d leave her just to respond to a family meeting game?”Max lowered his head. “I’m only worried, Sir. They won’t stop until they get what they want.”“I know. But they can wait. Liora can’t. She needs me right now, not meetings, not power.”Xavier final

Xavier’s footsteps echoed through the long hospital corridor. His black suit was back on, his face a cold mask, as if nothing could pierce that composure. Yet behind his gaze, worry still lingered for Liora, whom he had left for a while in the VIP room.Max walked half a step behind him, his expression as rigid as ever. But once they passed through the hospital’s main doors and the morning breeze greeted them, Max quickened his pace, moving closer to Xavier’s side.“Sir, there is something important I need to report.”Xavier paused beneath the canopy, his eyes narrowing. “Speak.”Max glanced around, making sure no other ears were listening.“According to our informants, Damien held an emergency meeting with several other members of the Wrenford family. They deliberately excluded you. The meeting took place at the old family mansion, last night.”Xavier remained silent, his face expressionless.“And the topic of this meeting?” he asked.“They discussed your leadership. Damien tried to
