Selene felt like chewing his head off and spitting it out at that moment.

"This was exactly how we met her when we also arrived," Vivian quickly barked, "Can you believe this woman? After everything you've done for her, and this is how she repays you?!"

Chloe slowly let go of Adrian's arm, her eyes lingering on Vivian's red cheeks. Then, she covered her mouth with both hands and rushed forward, "Oh my God."

Selene rolled her eyes. Here comes the performance!

"Oh my God, what happened?"

She was looking horrified, heartbroken and the worse? Innocent. Selene almost admired the commitment.

"Selene..." Her voice trembled, "Please don't tell me you're leaving because of me."

The room instantly softened, and Vivian sighed. Camille frowned sympathetically and even Adrian looked annoyed.

Chloe always had this way of making herself look like the victim in front of everyone. Her eyes watered, and her lips quivered softly.

Gosh! She was insanely good at this.

"No, no, no..." She shook her head repeatedly, "I never wanted this."

Selene stared at her. What a liar!

"You have to believe me!" She cried, grabbing selene's hand before she could pull away, "I never wanted to come between you and Adrian."

Selene nearly laughed.

The audacity.

The absolute audacity!!!

But before she could speak, Vivian wrapped an arm around Chloe and pulled her close, "You didn't do anything, Chloe. Adrian never loved her,he never looked at her once. You and Adrian belong together!"

"Exactly." Camille nodded immediately, "You did nothing wrong. She's the demon here, she's the one trying to get attention from Adrian, but we aren't as stupid as her, unfortunately,"

Chloe still looked devastated, "But she's leaving." A tear rolled down her cheek.

Impressive!

"Maybe I should leave instead."

The room exploded instantly.

"What?!"

"Absolutely not!"

"Don't be ridiculous!"

Vivian pretty much hugged Chloe at that instant and Chloe decided to further break down in the older woman's arms.

"Why should you leave?"

"Because of me." Chloe's voice cracked, "She's Adrian's wife, and I'm not!"

Selene rolled her eyes again. How generous of she!

"No." Vivian shook her head firmly, patting Chloe's back, "You deserve happiness too."

Camille nodded again, "You and Adrian should have been together from the start. You were both childhood sweethearts and you've always loved each other! This wench came out of nowhere and tried to steal him away!"

"I feel so guilty." Chloe whispered, lowering her head in shame.

"You don't." Selene countered immediately, and everyone turned to her once again.

Chloe looked wounded, "What?"

"You don't feel guilty." Selene said, then added slowly, "NOT. ONE. BIT!"

Chloe's eyes immediately filled with tears again, "I'm sorry for all you think I've done. I'm so so sorry! Please, don't hate me!"

The victim.

Always playing the victim!!!

"Look what you've done." Adrian snapped furiously, his expression darkening "She's apologizing and you're attacking her?"

Selene let out a small, hysterical laughter and looked at both Adrian and Chloe. Because somehow Chloe slept with a married man and still ended up being the injured party.

Remarkable.

Absolutely remarkable.

"Actually," Selene said softly, then dropped the bomb for the first time, "We're already divorced."

Silence.

Then Camille burst into laughter, and Vivian joined her a second later. Even Chloe looked amused.

"Oh my God." Camille wiped her eyes, "Listen to her. Just listen to her!"

Selene stared.

"Adrian signed the papers," She said.

They laughed even harder, so hard that Camille had to grab onto the couch so she wouldn't fall, "Sure he did." She said in between laughter, wiping away the humorous tears in her eyes.

"Did he also build you a castle?" Vivian mocked.

"I mean it."

"No you don't." Vivian waved dismissively, "Stop embarrassing yourself. You've already done that enough during these tedious five years of yours!"

Selene reached for her handbag to pull out the papers. She was going to prove it to them right now that she wasn't joking at all. But before she could pull them out, Chloe suddenly started crying again.

A loud broken sob, and immediately everybody turned toward her.

Perfect timing.

Of course.

"I'm sorry." She mumbled as the tears ran down her cheeks, "I really am. I never meant to hurt you."

The workers exchanged awkward looks. Even they seemed confused.

Because Chloe sounded sincere.

Almost believable.

Almost.

"Please stay." Chloe's voice cracked, and she stepped forward again. This time, Selene stepped back before the actress would teach out and grab her hands again.

"If leaving means losing your marriage then please stay."

The hypocrisy made Selene laugh again, "What marriage?"

The room became quiet for a moment, then Adrian finally looked at her properly.

For the first time since arriving, his gaze actually settled on her face. He looked at the exhaustion, the sadness beneath it and the defeat he could make out.

Then, he sighed.

It was not one of regret.

He was simply tired of her. Tired of Selene.

"If you want to leave, leave." He declared.

That was it.

Five years. Reduced to one sentence.

Camille immediately relaxed, "There. You got what you wanted, now you can get the fuck out before you make Chloe cry any longer!"

Selene ignored Camille and looked at Adrian again. She had built her life around this man standing here, and loved him as genuinely as love could be.

He knew that well enough. But he never once...chose her.

Even if it was once.

At that moment, a real smile broke out of her face and she uttered as sincerely as she could, "Goodbye, Adrian."

"Uh-huh," He replied absentmindedly with his attention already on Chloe whom was still sobbing quietly.

Selene turned away, and Benjamin immediately grabbed the last suitcase.

Martha looked ready to cry, and the younger maids looked devastated.

But Vivian only looked relieved, and Camille... victorious.

As Selene walked toward the door, Camille called after her, "You'll be back. I give you from this moment till tomorrow morning. You know why?"

"Because she loves Adrian too much to stay away from him, because she's desperate for him!" Vivian replied mockingly, and they both laughed out hard.

Chloe smiled sadly, "We'll always welcome you back."

Selene didn't answer.

The rain was pouring by the time she climbed into the car, and Benjamin shut the door quietly.

The engine started, and the gates ahead slowly opened. As the vehicle rolled forward, Selene looked through the rear window one final time.

She didn't know why, maybe because some part of her still needed proof.

And she got it.

Chloe had wrapped her arms around Adrian's neck and pulled him closer. Neither Camille nor Vivian looked shocked, since they always believed she had always been the rightful woman standing there.

Adrian lowered his head, and kissed her hard.

In front of the entire mansion.

In front of the staff.

In front of the house where his wife had just walked away.

Absolutely nobody looked surprised. If anything, they were already expecting it to happen.

Selene watched for exactly three seconds, then she looked away.

The gates closed behind them, and the mansion disappeared.

And as the city lights blurred behind the rain-covered glass, Selene slowly closed her eyes and whispered a promise so quietly that only her wolf heard it.

'One day, every single one of you will learn exactly who you threw away.' Her eyes opened again, and she looked extremely cold and dangerous, 'Fortunately, that day is just a corner away!'

"You could clean the bathrooms." Selene continued. His face became completely blank, "Bathrooms?""Yes." She nodded, "Very important job. Someone has to scrub those toilets."Benjamin covered his mouth."And you could work in the cafeteria." Selene said as she turned to Camille whose mouth was already open."Me?" She touched her chest, her eyes radiating disbelief. "Why not?""I've never—""You'll learn."Selene turned toward Vivian too, "And you..."Vivian looked terrified already. Selene pretended to think, tapping her chin continuously, "Maybe laundry."Vivian stared at her, while Selene smiled brightly."You can wash everyone's uniforms."Benjamin finally couldn't hold it anymore. He burst out laughing behind her, and Selene could hold herself anymore. She laughed till she couldn't stand straight anymore. Adrian's face immediately fell when Selene said that, and Vivian looked horrified. Camille's lips parted in disbelief too, and they all looked visibly humiliated. Of course they would be humiliated. They all knew exactly what to expect the moment they had finally decided to come and seek for her help. To seek her. "Selene..." Vivian whispered."What?" Selene asked innocently. "I'm only stating the obvious." She then looked at Adrian from head to toe, "My goodness."She actually took a step closer, pretending to inspect him, "Is that shirt yours?"Adrian looked down at himself, and another wave of embarrassment and humiliation burned in his eyes. She savoured the look on his face. "It looks like something a street dog dragged out of a dumpster."Benjamin turned away completely this time, his shoulders shaking.Selene turned to Camille next and gave her a once-over. Kingsley stumbled backwards, still gripping Mary's arm, "Stay away from me." "Why?" Selene tilted her head, her voice strangely calm, "After everything you've done, why should I stay away from you?"Kingsley released Mary and stepped back again, "Selene, listen to me.""No." She took another step forward, "You had years to explain yourself." Another step again, "You had years to tell me the truth." Her eyes glowed brighter, "But instead, you killed my father, blamed the Triplets for it, and watched me hate the wrong people for years.""You don't understand what happened." "Oh, I understand perfectly now." Selene said with a smile, "And that's exactly why you're going to die."Kingsley growled, and the sound was deep enough to shake the room.Scott immediately moved away with Mary, putting as much distance between themselves and the coming fight as possible.Kingsley looked around desperately, and his eyes landed on the Triplets.Three Alphas. The abandoned estate just outside the old Silvercrest Pack has been standing for generations. The estate held a large, decaying mansion, mostly surrounded by bushes. A man in his late fifties sat in the dim living room, his feet shifting restlessly. It was Kingsley. He'd heard about the death of Robert, and how the whole plan had failed to get the triplets' blood. And he didn't need anyone to tell him that the Triplets would be coming after him next. Seems like they had resolved every issue they had with Selene, and that part annoyed and angered him the most. Who would have thought that after she had almost killed them, they would easily forgive her? This was not how this was supposed to turn out to be. They were supposed to take her down, and then when they eventually came for him...he would gladly die. But now, he was being hunted by all of them. A groan came from across the room, and Kingsley glanced at his son, Scott. The twenty-three-year-old male was sprawled on the couc

Selene understood it all perfectly now. Everything that had happened in the past that had led to her father's death. Turns out that after Darius had turned down Robert's request to continue the experiment with more of the Triplet's blood and he had refused, Robert had gotten enraged and had begun messing with the politics of the Silvercrest Pack...along with help from Kingsley. Or rather, Roman. They'd twisted things so much that it'd almost led to war with other Packs. And then for the finishing touch, Robert had poisoned Darius with a substance that made his wolf much more aggressive than usual. Darius had gone out of control and couldn't think straight enough to stop the war. It had become a major emergency that all he could think of to stop the ruckus that was about to befall everyone...was to kill him. And so, he had written that letter to the triplets to come and stop him before he did something horrible. The Triplets had no idea then that Darius was behaving like that be

The funeral was small.Just a few close friends, and the people who had known Harrison long enough to understand what kind of man he had been.Selene stood beside his coffin in a simple black dress, staring down at the man she still couldn't believe was gone.Harrison looked peaceful, and that was the only thing she could bring herself to be grateful for.He wasn't struggling to breathe anymore. His heart wasn't fighting anymore. He wasn't lying in a hospital bed with machines keeping him alive. He simply looked like he was sleeping.Selene reached down and gently touched his cold hand, and swallowed hard, "You promised we'd go somewhere warm together."
