Chapter 3

I looked at Sienna's face, twisted with greed, and almost laughed.

Expose my crimes? Make me unable to survive? Ignorance truly is bliss. That was the only reason she dared to say such things to the Alpha King's daughter.

I had planned to leave this disgusting place immediately and let them rot without my protection. But just as I was about to tell her to get lost, my gaze locked onto her collarbone.

There was a fresh tattoo.

Black ink traced the Iron Moon pack's crest on her pale skin, with Caleb's personal mark inked right in the center.

My pupils shrank. That was the exclusive mark an Alpha gives to his true mate.

Noticing my gaze, Sienna touched the tattoo smugly. "Looks like you didn't know. The Alpha gave me this mark half a year ago. He said I'm the only one worthy of it."

I finally understood why she was so bold, and why Caleb favored her so much. They had been sleeping together behind my back.

The funny thing was, just days ago, Caleb was kissing my forehead with deep affection. "Aurora, once we defeat them and my position is secure, we'll have our bonding ceremony. I want everyone to know you are my only fated mate."

Lies. All of it. He used me as a shield, and gave the spot he promised me to his secret new toy.

Leave?

No, I wasn't leaving. I was going to stay. I was going to serve these two a revenge they would never forget.

I quickly masked the murderous intent in my eyes and put on a defeated look.

"Fine," I murmured, lowering my eyes, pretending to be reluctant. "But I don't have that much money."

Seeing me yield so easily, Sienna's wicked smile grew.

"If you don't have the cash, that's fine." She yanked out a piece of paper. "Sign this. For the next ten years, you'll work for the pack for free as the lowest-ranking Omega."

Looking at the ridiculous terms on the contract, anger made me clench my fists. Caleb was ruthless. Not only did he want to strip my rank, but he also wanted to bleed me dry and make me a slave to Iron Moon.

"Fine. I will sign it."

Sienna smiled in satisfaction. She dragged her finger across the files on my desk. "From today on, I am the new Head Beta of Iron Moon. The Alpha's orders are that I assign all your duties. Now, pack your things and get out of this office. It's mine now."

I looked around. This office was on the top floor, right next to Caleb's Alpha suite. She wanted to mark her territory.

"Fine," I replied, without a single extra word.

I grabbed a few personal files from the cabinet and walked out of the place I had worked for ten years. The door slammed shut behind me.

I pulled out my phone and hit save on the recording of our entire conversation.

Once I got home, I immediately contacted the Alpha King family's legal team.

"I need to know. Under werewolf law, does an Alpha have the right to force someone to work for the pack for free?"

The lawyer answered respectfully, "Absolutely not, my lady. That is highly illegal. The Alpha King would never allow you to be treated this way."

I ended the call and pulled a yellowed IOU from my wall safe.

Ten years ago, Caleb had the Alpha title but no funds. I lent him ten million dollars in my own name to expand the pack, without charging a cent of interest. For ten years, I never brought it up.

He had enjoyed it for so long, he probably thought he was in the clear.

I scoffed and tucked the IOU away. Just then, my phone buzzed with a notification. Sienna was on social media, flaunting a designer bag Caleb bought her, her face painted with pure greed and arrogance.
