Sacrifice

Hugh opened his eyes suddenly. His head was resting on the back of the couch. It was dark in grandpa James' ward. He could see Lucia sprawled beside grandpa James'. He felt a familiar and hated presence around the ward and his head snapped to look at the door.

Hugh stood up and walked toward Lucia to check if she was really sleeping. It had been an hour since they entered the ward. It was late and it wasn't surprising that Lucia was sleeping tiredly. He gently raised her shoulder and took her in his arms toward the sofa.

He placed her back lightly on it and straightened her legs. After setting her comfortably on the sofa, he raised his hand and caressed her cheek. Lucia suddenly caught his hand, unconsciously. Hugh chuckled at this, "I'll be back, kitten. I need to deal with a pesky fly." He whispered.

Hugh removed his hand from Lucia's loose grip. He walked towards the ward's door, he knew the person on the other side of the door could hear his footsteps. He did not make any attempt
