Alexander.

"My eyes widened in surprise as I spotted the guy from earlier, wondering what brought him to the club.?"

"I was tempted to slap him earlier, but his good looks disarmed me. Now I'm curious about the special occasion that'll make him wear a tuxedo – and who the lucky woman is!"

He couldn't stop looking at my cleavages, I knew he must have a huge crush on Maya. But he should just continue with what he had decided on.

He told me he had decided to go on with the marriage and I like that.

At least even if Maya comes back, she wouldn't have a choice but to continue living with Ethan as his wife.

I heard Ethan is very handsome, but I doubt if he can be different from Maya's ex-boyfriend.

He's tall and fit and handsome. Is there anything a girl will ever want that he doesn't have?

If I'm not here pretending to be Maya, I would have offered to be his wife. What am I saying?

I seem to have a serious crush on him. Gosh, I'm so ashamed of myself.

When I walked back to Linda, she commented about how beautiful the dress looked on me. And just like that, we ended up buying it.

Well, I don't have to worry much about it. I will just be wearing it for three hours.

But Linda warned me that I had to get familiar with clothes like this one. Clothes that expose some parts of my body I would like to keep close.

If I still want the one million dollars according to the contract, then I need to abide by her rule.

We drive home, and I was warned not to step outside again. It seems like Caleb didn't tell her I"ve done so, and I'm grateful.

In the evening, Caleb came to my room to see how I was doing. And I had to beg him to let me go out and see my mom.

Yes, I've missed her so much. I can't also wait to tell her how I am faring.

After much pleading, he agreed after he made me promise I would be back at home before 11 pm and that I would be very careful.

I packed several food and fruits for my mom while the maids were in their rooms.

After staying with my mom for an hour, I was gisting and telling each other about how we've been doing. I told Mom I had to go back home.

But then, I had wanted to see how the bar was a ping as well.

I was in a short tight gown that shows my figure. I took a black bag and a pair of pair of glasses.

I looked perfect and simple. I didn't want to dress like Maya, and I didn't want anyone to know I'm Alexandra.

I look so good now. Mom didn"t even recognize me that much. I guess I've changed for good.

I walk inside the bar and a familiar feeling courses through me. I remember coming here to work every day.

And somehow, it looked like a year ago. Even though it only happened days back.

I look around at how filled it is, as always. This way, I wouldn't be able to drag attention to myself.

I take an empty seat and look up, just in time to see Maya's boyfriend clutching one of Alessio's beauty closer to himself.

I thought he used to love Maya. What am I saying? He told me he would stay off.

But why is he here and with a lady for that matter?

His eyes met with mine and held for a couple of minutes. His mouth went wide, and he suddenly let go of Cara.

I chuckle slightly, surprised at the fact that he still seems to love me, I mean Maya.

Maybe this is his way of getting back at Maya for agreeing to marry someone else.

I don't care, I don't know why I should.

I get up and walk towards Alexander. I've missed him so much. I wonder how he is doing.

Emily is nowhere to be found. Maybe Petal is around somewhere. She must be with him.

I move closer to Alexander, "Hi."

"What will you like to have," he says, not even looking at me.

I smile, "Alexander, it's me, Alexandra."

He looked up, his eyes went wide and dark with shock, "Alexandra, what happened to you?" He walks out so we can be standing together now, " OMG!" He exclaims and pulls me into a tight hug.

Well, Alexander has been the number one friend I've ever had. We couldn't quite keep in touch because I didn't have a phone but now that I do, I will collect his contact.

He pulls back and looks at me in awe, "How come you are like this? You've changed. It was only a few days since I've last seen you."

I laugh, " You've gone handsome than you are," I tease too, and he chuckles softly.

I'm sure he will be amazed by the type of my clothes and the fact that it's expensive and not the one I like wearing.

Well, I'm like this because I was forced.

"I heard from Emily that you got sacked. I'm so sorry. I would have called you if I had your number."

" No problem, let me get it now," I tell him and bring out my phone.

Alexander made a deep gasp as he stared at my one million dollars phone. I laugh mentally, glad that my life is better now.

I have never owned a phone, and I never anticipated it. Phones, gadgets, and laptops are something owned by the rich. And since I'm not, I decided to forget about it.

I save his number and look up at him again, "Can I have a cocktail?"

"Sure!" His eyes have brightened smiles spread across his face. In one word, he seems glad to see me, "I will bring it over. Don't forget me in your paradise."

I laugh briefly at his choice of words. I delve into my bag and bring out two hundred dollars. I place it in his hands, and he laughs out loud.

"Thank you so much," he seems so happy, and he almost bows to me.

Emily walks in eventually and gives us a familiar stare.

I scoff and walk back to my seat.

Just when I was about to sit down, a pair of hands grabbed me and ease me out of the bar.

I look up at Maya's ex-boyfriend. The look he's giving me is something else.

I can vividly see the steams coming out of his ears.

But I seriously don't know why he's so happy.

My eyes suddenly look past him, and I see Petal coming towards us.

What! I must not let him see me! I look up at Maya's boyfriend. He opens his mouth to say something, but I stop him by taking his hand and running away.

Anywhere

but there. Petal must never see me. He will know I'm Alexandra.

  • The Fake Billionaire   Chapter 42: Confusion

EthanFinally, it felt like things were clicking into place. I honestly couldn’t believe how quickly everything got settled. I’m just glad I had the foresight to track down the girl Petal was so obsessed with.I pulled out my phone and called my mom. She answered right away, her voice sounding incredibly drained. I couldn't tell if she was just exhausted from her day or if she was simply tired of dealing with me. Honestly, it was probably both. Being an only child means I’ve definitely given my parents more than their fair share of headaches over the years. My dad loves to threaten to disown me when he's angry, but we both know that’s empty talk; I’m his only legitimate son. He has other children out there, but they’re all daughters, so technically, I’m the only one who can carry on the family name.I think the only reason Mom pushed so hard for this marriage to happen is that I’ve never brought a woman home that I actually loved. I’m pushing thirty and still haven’t found “the one.”

  • The Fake Billionaire   Chapter 41: Millionaire in the Making

AlexandraI stood at the top of the stairs, my heart hammering against my ribs so hard I thought it might actually crack a bone. My mind was racing, trying to make sense of the chaos unfolding in front of me. What was going on? Why was everyone suddenly here, acting like this was a grand reunion? And Ethan—he was looking up at me with a smile that felt far too warm for someone who, just hours ago, was a source of nothing but stress.I looked down at my phone again, my thumb trembling as I zoomed in on the notification. I needed to be sure I wasn't hallucinating from the sleeping pills or the sheer exhaustion of the last few days. But there it was, in black and white: a credit alert for one million dollars. One. Million. Dollars.Am I dreaming? I had to pinch the bridge of my nose to stay grounded. This felt like a movie, the kind where the protagonist wakes up and realizes it was all a fever dream. But the weight of the phone in my hand and the cool air of the hallway felt all too rea

  • The Fake Billionaire   Chapter 40: Living the Lie

AlexandraI stood there for a few minutes, completely rooted to the spot, unable to move. My heart was still hammering against my ribs. Honestly, I didn't actually expect him to kiss me. I thought I was just being clever, playing a part and teasing him a little to see how he’d react.Who am I kidding? I’m the one who provoked him. I was acting like his wife, pushing his buttons, and frankly, I’m lucky he didn't take things further right then and there. But as I stood in the silence that followed, a treacherous little thought crept in: why was a part of me actually wishing he hadn't stopped? The air in the room felt thick and stiflingly hot all of a sudden.I had to pull myself together. This situation was spiraling out of control. How was I ever going to get back to my real life? How could I possibly convince him that I’m not Maya, especially when I was leaning into his kiss like my life depended on it? The frustration was starting to settle in my bones, making me feel heavy and exhau

  • The Fake Billionaire   Chapter 39: My Feelings

Ethan I pull back, surprised at what Alexandra just did. Though, I don't seem to understand why I'm so tense or why I want to continue kissing her and why I want more. What's happening to me especially? I can't stop my heart from beating so fast. She stares into my eyes as if she could see through me. I pull back quickly, my breath caught in my chest. I shouldn't have kissed her. Well, I didn't want her to deny being Maya, not in front of my chauffeur. I still don't know who the spy is. And until I find out, I won't be able to trust anyone. I don't even know if I'm supposed to tell her I'm aware that she's Alexandra. While a part of me wants me to, the other part doesn't. I'm still not sure what this is. Ok, I knew Alexandra wouldn't follow me so easily. So I paid a man to remove the face mask. She's so sensitive to that and wouldn't want anyone to see her as Maya. But why did she pretend to be her in the first place? Though, I don't think she did this because of mo

  • The Fake Billionaire   Chapter 38: Burst the bubble

Alexandra I stare wide-eyed at Ethan, my legs shaking under me. Even my hands shook slightly. I realize I'm not even wearing a face mask. But how did he get to know this place? I've always worn a face mask to the club. Or does he know the truth now? OMG! What should I do? Gosh! Am I going to get apprehended? I quickly imagine myself behind the bar, begging the police to open the door for me. Screaming and beseeching them to let me out. “Hey!” Ethan snaps at me. I look at him, confused and speechless. “Ethan, I—,” I started, but he cut me off. “You don't have to say a word." He takes a step closer, and my heartbeat skyrockets. "Are you alright?" He touches my forehead slightly, and I jerk back. “ What are you doing?" I yell at him. He glanced back before looking back at me. “I'm your husband, remember?” Seriously? So, he is not aware of the fact that I'm not his beautiful wife. I'm Alexandra! Gosh, I don't believe he's here to take me back. “Hey, see! I'm not Maya!

EthanWait! This is very confusing. I don't even understand what it's all about.I mean, why will Alexandra be the one at the wedding party and not Maya. And where the fuck is Maya? And why is Alexandra suddenly gone?I look at the picture of Alexandra again and quickly make a mental comparison. These two look too much the same. There's nowhere I would have detected a difference.Wait for a second, was it Alexandra all along?I remember when I saw her in the garden. She acted weird and different and that was the first time I noticed the change. And then she kept talking about my marriage and I thought she was referring to us until I met her in the boutique. She looked surprised seeing me wearing a tuxedo as if she didn't know who I was.I've been out of the country for a while and didn't go to clubs like how my friends do. So, she might not have recognized me.Yes, I just remember another thing. The pieces are just coming together and finding their perfect position. That day, the seco
