POV: Bernardo

I slammed the steering wheel and shouted a curse. The pain shot up my arm, but I didn't even feel it.

“How dare she make me look like an idiot in front of the gang?” I growled through clenched teeth.

The car jolted as I pressed harder on the accelerator, the engine roaring as if it could sense my fury. The smell of fuel mixed with the metallic taste of anger in my mouth.

I couldn't get the nurse out of my head. Her sweet manner, the smile of someone who thinks they're sharing good news.

“Luna Camila is in the hospital, she even helped your wife with the kids. Didn't she say anything?”

No.

The bitch didn't say anything.

She pretended everything was normal, pretended innocence. And I, like an idiot, gave her that fake smile I always give when I want to hide my shame.

“Oh, yes, she mentioned it,” I replied. A liar trying to appear calm. Deep down, I just wanted to disappear from there.

“She left you in the dark, Bernardo.”

  • The False Luna   The Price of Poison

POV: MauraThe car stopped in front of the rusty gate, and the headlights still illuminated the undergrowth when the driver turned off the engine. The sound of the engine dying gave me time to breathe before getting out, and I wanted to believe that breath was strength, but it was just fear in disguise. I opened the door and the smell of wet earth and gasoline hit me like an old memory; my heel sank into the damp ground, and mud rose up the sides of my red dress, the same one I usually wear when I want to feign dominance. The cold fabric stuck to my skin, and for a moment I felt angry at myself for being there, for having planned every detail, for knowing how much it degraded me and still not turning back. The lights of the main house flickered at the top of the hill, and the walk to the porch was long enough for me to think about everything I left behind—the comfort of being called Luna even if it was a lie, Carlos's body getting used to my scent, the feeling of having some kind of p

  • The False Luna   Alfa in Fury

POV: CarlosThe door slammed behind me, and the sound seemed to echo inside my head. I didn't want silence, but it was all I had. Silence and anger. Fucking anger eating away at me like acid inside. Her scent was still there—sweet perfume, the same one she wore when she wanted to distract me. I walked down the hall, my eyes searching for something out of place, some clue, some fucking explanation. Maura was gone. No high heels left behind, no coat thrown on the couch. Nothing.“She's playing with me, Mael.”The wolf answered before I even finished the thought.“You let her play. You and your ego.”I growled softly.“Shut up. It's not time.”“It's never time.”I climbed the stairs slowly, my hands clenched. The steps creaked, the muffled sound mixing with the rapid beating of my heart. Her bedroom door was open. I entered without knocking—not that I ever knocked for anyone. The smell of wine hit me first, then perfume and soap. Everything carefully arranged to look normal, but I know t

  • The False Luna   The Female I Killed

POV: AnyaI slammed the bedroom door shut. The wood shook, and the sound echoed through the house like a bang. For the first time, I wasn't afraid. For the first time, I wanted him to hear it. To feel the noise. To know it was over.I leaned my back against the door and let the air out, heavy and hot. My hands were still shaking. My throat burned from the words I swallowed. I wasn't going to sleep there anymore. I wasn't going to pretend anymore. I'd rather go back to my old pack as the outcast, the failure, the humiliated one—anything but this shadow he turned into a wife.“Finally,” Selra murmured inside me. Her voice was rough, tired, but alive. “At last you hear me.”“Don't start,” I whispered, wiping away my tears with the back of my hand.“I'm not going to comfort you, Anya. You waited too long. Now feel what's left.”I walked to the mirror. My face was red, my eyes swollen, my hair loose and falling over my shoulders. I looked like another woman. One I didn't recognize and, at

  • The False Luna   What Remained of Me

POV: CamilaFor a few seconds, I thought I was dreaming. The room looked the same—cold, silent, enveloped in that smell of hospital and loneliness—but something was stirring inside me. An ancient, muffled presence that I would recognize even after a thousand years of silence.Nyssara.Her voice didn't come as a scream. It was a hoarse, scratchy, almost broken whisper. And yet, it was enough to make my heart skip a beat.“Are you really there?” I murmured, not realizing I had spoken aloud.Valentina looked at me with a frown, but I could barely pay attention. My chest rose and fell too fast, my whole body shaking. There was joy—a desperate, pure joy—but also fear. Because now that the bond was reestablished, I could feel everything. Including what I never wanted to feel: how weak she was.The sound of her heart was irregular, distant. Nyssara was breathing with difficulty, as if each beat were an effort not to disappear. I felt her pain inside me, a dull weight burning beneath my skin.

  • The False Luna   “Between Farce and Forgiveness”

POV: CamilaThe hospital room was silent, enveloped in a cold white that smelled of medicine and longing. The gloom spread across the walls, and the rhythmic sound of the heart monitor mingled with the slow beating of my heart. I tried to sleep, to let my mind shut down, but my body still seemed to be at war—feverish, heavy, torn between what I wanted to forget and what I insisted on remembering. The fever had subsided, but there was still that uncomfortable heat in my chest, a burning sensation that did not come from the illness. It came from within, from the memory of what he did, from the name that slipped from a mouth other than mine.Sleep was finally beginning to envelop me when the door opened slowly, and the metallic sound of the doorknob turning made me hold my breath. At first I thought it was Rodrigo, coming back to check on the medicine. But the smell that invaded the room made me freeze. It was a familiar scent, woody, slightly metallic, like iron in the rain. The kind of
