I follow Kane downstairs.
He walks with his head held high, and I wish I had the same confidence he has. Yet, all I do is try to hide behind his back.
Kane pulls me to the bar and lifts me onto the stool like I weigh nothing. He leans over the bar and gestures to a woman to come toward him. Immediately, a wide grin appears on her lips, and I already don't like her.
Perhaps for a reason because as soon as her eyes set on me, her face twists in disgust.
"Sam, can you help me out a little?" Kane asks her.
"Sure thing, boss, what's up?"
