I carry Selena into the apartment, lay her on the bed, and cover her with a blanket. I don't say anything; she's too shocked to listen or speak.
But I can't blame her after everything that happened downstairs. As if it wasn't enough that someone tried to take her away, I killed the bastard in front of her. Perhaps I overreacted, but he had it coming.
No one lays a hand on my mate without consequences.
I lock the apartment for her safety and head downstairs.
Onyx whimpers in the back of my mind, obviously just as worried as I am. "She's safe, buddy." I try to put his mind at ease.
