Dominic POV

I stood on the second floor of the hotel building, my cold eyes fixed on the decorated hall below. Guests kept pouring in, their laughter and wide smiles filling the air. But I knew those smiles. Fake. Empty.

Behind every handshake was calculation, behind every greeting was greed.

Richard called this a welcome party, but it was nothing more than a battlefield dressed in expensive suits...a business hunt for investors.

I clenched my jaw and hissed under my breath. I should never have returned. I thought coming back would mean something, but the one reason that mattered most… she was someone I could never have. So why stay? Why torture myself? But I couldn’t run now...not after I had already announced my return to the company.

“Dom, why are you so angry over such a small party?” Richard’s voice broke into my thoughts.

I turned and shot him a sharp look. He still had the nerve to disturb me. I said nothing and turned back to the hall. None of the guests below even noticed me

  • The Game of a Married Woman    Chapter 28: Philip And Anastasia

Philip POVI walked out of my office with my suitcase in my hand. It was not yet closing hour but I was leaving to go and see Anastasia. Luke had told me that she had left and she didn’t look well. My heart ached when he said that. I knew she must have been shaken a lot by the announcement. As I reached the company entrance, I saw Marceline walking in elegantly. She must be coming back from Roman’s school. My heart raced with guilt, and I thought she would stop and say something to me considering my attitude and actions regarding Roman when I learned he got into a fight in school. But she simply walked past me without a glance, like she didn’t see me.I was stunned and turned to look at her. She kept walking with her shoulders high. My eyes narrowed at her attitude, but I didn’t dwell on it and headed straight to my car.“I will drive myself,” I said to my driver, who rushed forward when he saw me. I took the car key from him quickly. I couldn’t risk him seeing me going to Anastasia’

Dominic POVI had told her it was just one cup of coffee, but I knew that wasn’t the whole truth. The real reason I brought her here was because I wanted more time with her.“Over here,” I said in a low voice, pointing to a quiet corner booth. My eyes followed her graceful movements as she pulled out the chair to sit. I would have done it for her, but I didn’t want her to feel uncomfortable. The waiter came quickly.“Black coffee, and...” I paused, turning to her.“A cup of cappuccino and a slice of cheesecake,” she said. The waiter nodded and left.I couldn’t help watching her as she took off her suit coat and hung it on the back of her chair. Something about her was different today. She didn’t have that wall of distance she usually carried around me. She looked… softer, more relaxed.“It seems you had something doing before the school called ?” I asked gently, smiling at her as she turned back to me.She didn’t answer immediately. Instead, she just looked at me with those calm eyes,

  • The Game of a Married Woman    Chapter 26: Maryland School

Dominic POV “Here are the business proposal plans submitted by some companies,” Gabriel, my assistant, said as he dropped some documents on the table. Earlier, when I had just entered the company, he had told me that several companies had submitted their business plans to us for collaboration. I glanced at the documents and frowned at how many there were. It shouldn’t have surprised me...after the welcome party, I knew many companies would want to work with Halvourne Enterprise. Still, the sight of the pile caught me off guard. “Did you preview them?” I asked, hoping he had gone through them before bringing them to me. I didn’t want to waste my time reading something that would only make me angry. “I did, sir. These are the ones that match what the company has in mind,” he replied. “Alright, I’ll look into them,” I said, dismissing him with a nod. I pulled the documents closer, prepared to review them. Normally Richard would have been the one handling this, but he had gone on

Marceline POVFlashbacksI felt a hand slip gently around me, pulling me into a warm back hug. I didn’t need to turn because I already knew who it was. Philip. His lips brushed against my cheek, then trailed softly down my neck. My lips curved into a smile.“Thanks so much for coming, sweetheart,” he whispered against my ear, his voice low.I smiled again, turning slowly to face him. My hands rested lightly on his shoulders.“You don’t have to thank me,” I said softly. “I miss you.”Philip chuckled, his eyes glowing as he cupped my face. “I love you so much, Marceline. I will always love you.”“Are you sure about that?” I asked, my voice small as I searched his eyes. “You won’t leave me in the future?” My lips pushed into a pout I knew he loved. He smiled at the sight. “Why should I? You’re everything I’ve ever wanted. Everything I need.” His words were firm, before he leaned in and kissed me. “You and I, till forever.”Shyness crept up my cheeks and my heart pounded with sweetness. N

Marceline POVI walked straight to my supposed seat with a gentle and apologizing smile for being late. It wasn’t my intention to arrive late, but I had to drop Roman at school. It should not have taken so much time, but after leaving him, I stayed back in my car, parked not far from the company building. I needed a moment to meditate, to talk to myself about how far my life had come. Was I making the right decision to remain in this marriage, or should I just accept the divorce and let them go?Roman had witnessed the fight between Philip and me. That memory had torn my heart for days. I wanted my son to grow with love and care from his parents, not to witness violence. It took me so much effort to ease his mind, to convince him that his father and I weren’t really fighting. But deep inside, I knew the truth.I had cried my eyes out too, not only because of the pain but because Philip had not even reached out to Roman since that night. At least a father who claimed to love his son sh

  • The Game of a Married Woman    Chapter 23: The Stanmore New Vice president

Philip POVI headed straight to my office to drop my suitcase and settle down before the meeting. My heart was still pounding, but I tried to stay calm and steady my steps.I had barely entered my office when my assistant walked in. I already had an idea why he was here.“Welcome, sir,” he greeted.I nodded in reply and sat down on my chair.“Here is the meeting agenda,” he said and handed me a file.I opened it to cross-check it like always. Being the CEO, I had to check the agenda of every meeting. My hand paused for a moment when I saw the first item—introduction of the Vice President. The name written there was Mrs. Marceline Stanmore. My tongue turned bitter, even though I already knew it. I was the one who instructed Luke, my assistant, to remove Anastasia’s name and put Marceline’s. I couldn’t go against my grandfather, who had asked me to give the position to her.I had even tried giving my grandfather reasons why Marceline was unfit for the position, but he clearly said that
