Philip POV

I headed straight to my office to drop my suitcase and settle down before the meeting. My heart was still pounding, but I tried to stay calm and steady my steps.

I had barely entered my office when my assistant walked in. I already had an idea why he was here.

“Welcome, sir,” he greeted.

I nodded in reply and sat down on my chair.

“Here is the meeting agenda,” he said and handed me a file.

I opened it to cross-check it like always. Being the CEO, I had to check the agenda of every meeting. My hand paused for a moment when I saw the first item—introduction of the Vice President.

The name written there was Mrs. Marceline Stanmore.

My tongue turned bitter, even though I already knew it. I was the one who instructed Luke, my assistant, to remove Anastasia’s name and put Marceline’s. I couldn’t go against my grandfather, who had asked me to give the position to her.

I had even tried giving my grandfather reasons why Marceline was unfit for the position, but he clearly said that

Marceline POVFlashbacksI felt a hand slip gently around me, pulling me into a warm back hug. I didn’t need to turn because I already knew who it was. Philip. His lips brushed against my cheek, then trailed softly down my neck. My lips curved into a smile.“Thanks so much for coming, sweetheart,” he whispered against my ear, his voice low.I smiled again, turning slowly to face him. My hands rested lightly on his shoulders.“You don’t have to thank me,” I said softly. “I miss you.”Philip chuckled, his eyes glowing as he cupped my face. “I love you so much, Marceline. I will always love you.”“Are you sure about that?” I asked, my voice small as I searched his eyes. “You won’t leave me in the future?” My lips pushed into a pout I knew he loved. He smiled at the sight. “Why should I? You’re everything I’ve ever wanted. Everything I need.” His words were firm, before he leaned in and kissed me. “You and I, till forever.”Shyness crept up my cheeks and my heart pounded with sweetness. N

Marceline POVI walked straight to my supposed seat with a gentle and apologizing smile for being late. It wasn’t my intention to arrive late, but I had to drop Roman at school. It should not have taken so much time, but after leaving him, I stayed back in my car, parked not far from the company building. I needed a moment to meditate, to talk to myself about how far my life had come. Was I making the right decision to remain in this marriage, or should I just accept the divorce and let them go?Roman had witnessed the fight between Philip and me. That memory had torn my heart for days. I wanted my son to grow with love and care from his parents, not to witness violence. It took me so much effort to ease his mind, to convince him that his father and I weren’t really fighting. But deep inside, I knew the truth.I had cried my eyes out too, not only because of the pain but because Philip had not even reached out to Roman since that night. At least a father who claimed to love his son sh

Philip POV I walked into the closet from the bathroom, straining my ears to hear if Marceline was in the bedroom. Nothing. No sound of her voice. It had been four days since I last saw her properly—since that night I slapped her. The memory burned in me every second. I regretted it. Truly. In all our years together, I had never raised a hand on her. I never thought I would. But that night, my anger took over. Lately, she had been defying me at every step. First, she rejected the divorce I wanted. Then she raised her voice at me like she no longer cared. She hired a housekeeper even when I told her not to. And then, she dared to ask about returning to work. Not just any job—she wanted the Vice President position. That position wasn’t hers. I had already promised it to Anastasia when she asked. Since that night, I had been sleeping at the office. But last night, I returned home, planning to talk to her. I wanted to persuade her gently to give up the idea of working at Stanmore.

Marceline POV "Goodbye, grandpa, I will visit another day," Roman said, climbing into the back seat while I bent down to fasten his seatbelt. "That’s great, Rome. Always remind your mummy to bring you here," Eldest Stanmore replied happily, his tone matching Roman’s cheer. We had been here quiet for a while, and it was already late. I had thought the others would be back by now, but they still weren’t. When I finished locking Roman’s belt and made sure it was secure, I turned to grandfather. "We will be going now. Take care of yourself, grandfather," I said with a small bow. He had walked outside to see us off. "I will. And as for what we talked about, you can start work anytime you like...no pressure," Eldest Stanmore said kindly, smiling. "Thank you. I will start as soon as possible," I replied with a grateful smile. "Alright, drive carefully on the road," he reminded. I nodded, got into the driver’s seat, and started the engine. Through the windscreen, I could st

Marceline POV“Grandpa!” Roman’s happy voice rang through the quiet sitting room of the Stanmore mansion the moment we stepped inside. His sudden shout startled the eldest Stanmore, Mr. Johnson Stanmore..Philip’s grandfather...who had been reading a newspaper.“The most cutie Roman!” Eldest Stanmore said joyfully, putting the paper aside and adjusting in his chair so Roman could run into his arms.“Easy, Roman,” I reminded gently. “Don’t hurt Great Grandpa.”The old man was already frail, and if Roman dashed too fast, he could easily injure him.“How is my boy doing?” Eldest Stanmore asked as Roman reached him, his wrinkled hands rubbing Roman’s chubby cheeks.“I’m fine, Grandpa! Mummy picked me up from school today, and I told her I wanted to see you because I missed you!” Roman rattled in one breath, hugging the old man tightly. His childish voice was so sweet that I couldn’t help laughing softly.Truly, after I picked him up from school, Roman had begged me to bring him here. He ha
